Rumor: Next Mortal Kombat game versus DC

We don't know how much stock you should put in this one, but it is a lot of fun to think about. TRMK.org is reporting a rumor they're working to confirm that the next Mortal Kombat game will include characters from the DC Universe. TRMK says that they've confirmed the VS. angle with their sources, but haven't been able to nail down the DC angle. What do we think? Well, how kind of you to ask.

Pretty much the only info we have to go on about the next MK comes from this interview with series chief Ed Boon. He has gone on record as saying the next in the series would be more "serious", which wouldn't seem to fit the men-in-tights vibe. But he's also said that will be a very different sort of MK. So we guess that makes it a wash on the probability scale. For our part, we can't stop wondering if we'll finally get to see Noob Saibot fighting Mister Mxyzptlk in the reverse linguistics battle of the century. ... Anybody?

I doubt this is true at all. Seeing as how the most recent game was made as a last "hurrah" before they completely redid the entire franchise, I don't think its rebirth would be a vs game

I agree Naeem they trying to do some Marvel VS Capcom for bring back to life Mortal Kombat.
But the game die because the last MK wasn`t as good as it use too. MK characters with big heads over go karts WTF!

You know Motor Kombat wasn’t a bad idea but its implementation in the game was, it felt like a last minute idea because the levels look lifeless and the game itself had this cheapness all over it.

Next time stick to Puzzle Kombat yeah a Super puzzle fighter rip off but it works.

Jesus Christ, this could be the worst idea EVER.

Considering that MK is mostly weapon-based in its fighting...and most DC heroes don't use (traditional) weapons. Superman uses none. Wonder Woman has her Lasso, Batman uses gadgets, Green Lantern uses a Power Ring, Green Arrow uses Bow/Arrows. Unless something completely changes on the MK end.

It wouldn't work. It couldn't work. It SHOULDN'T work. Besides, would the guys at DC honestly let the sight of their heroes getting sliced/diced and such.

Mortal Kombat only became weapons based when it moved to 3D. Just as they had to jimmy weapons combat onto their existing characters, I'm sure they could do so for DC ones.

If they did that, they would recieve so much hate from the DC fanboys. It's best if this never happened.

With that said I hope not, seriously they should stop screwing the MK formula for example I thought MK:A was going to be good I mean Deception was a step forward to the series but MK:A was a step backwards.

As MK fan I didn’t like Armageddon, the fatalities were repetitive, from the available rooster you only get to fight 15 characters in Arcade mode and whatever happened to the rest of the finishing moves? you know friendship, babalities, animalities etc etc

This is what I want MK:Trilogy in 3D or 2D.5 that’s it.I hope they don’t try to make Mortal Kombat like Virtual fighter or Tekken.

I've heard plenty of really shitty rumors in my life, but this one ranks among the shittiest.

It's already been said, but I must reiterate: Batman would kick all their asses. It's just a universal law or something.

That said, I don't think this would happen. Mortal Kombat would have to drop the fatalities since most DCU characters don't kill. I'm reasonably 100% sure that DC wouldn't allow Superman to slaughter someone. I can't imagine the MK crew is eager to drop their game's main selling point, either.

However, if it did happen, I would gleefully look forward to kicking Shang T'sung's ass with the Joker.

What kind of fatalities would superman have? he does not kill. neither does batman. This has to be a dumb rumor.

Okay, Joystiq. At some point you have to draw a line between RUMOR and BULLSHIT. This one fits squarely in the latter category. If it were Wildstorm vs. MK, I might be more inclined to believe it. Then again, Wildstorm is a DC label, and it's "heroes" aren't shy about dismemberment...

Superman + Heat vision = Flawless Victory

Superman could take Batman's intelligence with a lobotomy, like he did to Doomsday on JLU. Also, Pre-Crisis Superman had Super-intelligence as one of his powers. Everyone who wrote him though, especially today, are dumb, so they removed that power. :P

Superman now has super intelligence again. Well, not exactly, but when his powers came back in one year later, his super hearing and other senses have been enhanced even further, and his memory has been greatly enhanced. His super memory and brain which operates at super speed gives him super intelligence. He's content to let Luthor, Batman, and Mr. Terrific think they're the smartest men on the planet though.

That JLU episode sucked ass,you can't do that to doomsday damn it.

Seriously they took the coolness out of Doomsday in that episode and that is unforgiveable.

This seems as good a place as any to promote my crusade (read: desperate plead) for a Marvel Vs. Capcom HD release.

What about a Mortal Kombat vs. Killer Instinct game? Would that be better?

I'd probably buy this game either way. MK rokks. The whole DC komiks direktion wouldnt be a huge shokker, as the Kreate a Kharakter mode in MKA was practically made to replicate superheroes.

At first I would think MK vs. DC would be impossible, because fatalities and such would never be allowed on DC characters.

Then I remembered Dan Didio is editor in chief of DC. So expect this game to feature all of the JLI, and any character that is too light hearted, dying in horrible fashion.

I'm still waiting for Mortal Kombat Vs. Street Fighter. That game would be the most badass fighting game ever (if Capcom made it) or the most awesome (hilarious) fighting game ever (if Midway made it).

That would be the only game to take on Mario vs. Sonic. And it'd be multiplatform and take over the world.

If this happens we all know where we really are. There's no place besides Hell where a Mortal Kombat game can get any respectable license to team up with them. The day Night Wolf is seen on the same Character Select as Batman is the same day Earth becomes Hell.

Lets get back to basic MK have a selection of fighters with a max of 5 or 6 moves and mabye 6 diffrent combos each this Tekken/DOA OTT martial arts BS is annoying as hell, there is a reason why SF and MK where popular and still are they were simple and fun all a charatcer needs is 3-6 power moves 3-6 combos variations in damages,speeds,movement, ect ect you know make the game simple but fun then you can add these things called options that will give you control over the rules of stages/fights so you can you know enjoy the game, adding all this crap to it will not help the series its a dumb marketing trick nothing more nothing less.

Oh, c'mon, is no one gonna answer the call of "Anybody?" I thought that was great. Reminded me of the ep of Family Guy where Adam West goes on Jeopardy. As for the rumor, who cares, personally I'd just like to see a Batman fighting game where all the selectable fighters are his villains and Batman's the final boss, with like Robin, Nightwing, Huntress, maybe thrown in as sub-bosses.
