If it is a price drop, and they keep dropping the price at this rate, it might actually be affordable in a few years.

THey finally have some hardware to work with that doesn't make them have to scale anything back.

Also it seems that you didn't even bother to read the article since it clearly states that Microsoft will still own Halo. So nice try.

My friend told me they were keeping Halo to a trilogy and making a new series to continue it which, unless Microsoft owns the rights to the series in a way other than just the name, would they could continue it multiplatform.

And now we announce ground breaking news: We have figured out how to fit rumble into a controller with motion controls...oh wait. Noo nooo no, despite our adamantly denying it we will do a price drop? What we don't believe your corporate BS? Oh well then we'll give you an ALLL NEW version, with less hard disk space. Hows THAT sound?

Speculation:

New SKU, 40GB. It'll be the low end model with the 80GB. No more 20 and 60.

It'll come with the old controller, not Dualshock3. It'll probably be missing the card reader.

Retail for $399, starting November1. Maybe even packed with Motorstorm or something.

Just a speculation.

If Sony drops the price to $400 maybe Nintendo can do the counterattack and drop the price for the Wii to $200

Nintendo sales will explode in Christmas at $200 Wii

@Fernando

Even if the PS3 drops to $400, there's still no reason why they should drop the price... their consoles are still flying off the shelves, and if they aren't, they will when their new games are going to arrive for Christmas.

But when the Premium 360 falls to $300, Nintendo might have to make a move (but that's not going to happen anytime soon).

Actually..will come bundled with Spiderman 3 Blu-ray. Best Buy will have them in stock on or around Oct 28, the street date should be the following Sunday. All else you said, 'low end' 'minus Dualshock 3' 'minus card reader'. $399 price point.

Yeah, pretty accurate.

Worth it yet?

Hell no.

"achivements, better framerate, episodic content, better online"

achivements? you mean like the ones coming on Home right? altho not right out of the box

better framerate? you mean just like when Capcom stated that they were lowering down the PS3 version of DMC4 so it would be just like the 360 one (they pulled the "we don't want any differences to be fair to both sides" bs)

episodic content? that's just for GTA, you silly Fernando..

better online? was there even online for DMC to begin with? and well, yah, on that one I have to agree, XBL still ahead of the PSN...

But it seems like you Fernando feel cheated for not having games of such caliber on your Wii and istead have to stand through the rough times with...mmm....Zelda?....mmmm....MP3?......another Mario?.....

You can keep Cooking Mama, Wii Sports, Pokemon, and any of those other games exclusive all you want :]

Mr Khan, he posted well known franchises (with the exception of Assasin Creed), hence why I replied with Mario, Metroid, and Zelda.

If you want new franchises (with the exception of NiGHTS from the ones you listed) then sure, you have Uncharted which looks amazing, FolkSoul (hasn't released on the US or EU yet), Infamous, LittleBigPlanet, White Knight Story, WarDevil....just to name a few of those Exclusive titles of NEW FRANCHISES(The WarDevil tech demo looked amazing, otherwise I wouldnt even mention it), hell, the list goes pretty far, I should included known franchises...

So noshino ONE and i do mean ONE company say they have to lower the PS framerate and all of sudden this is what you based your comment on. well what about all the other games I.e madden fight night. so because capcom said that that means in your mind the ps3 versions of games are better. "will have achievements VS Have a achievements now. you shouldnt even compare shooters with xbox halo, gears, bioshock vs ??? Killzone maybe no wait resistance was good i gotta be honest about that. Not to mention the sleeper darkness stranglehold, damn what are your PS3 fans playing. and you better not say motorstorm ninja gaiden or resistance still.....I love the idea of PS3 Im tech junkie on paper it looks great but when you go to a game store and psp owners have a better selection than you well....that just sux

@Gregory

-WarHawk, Heavenly Sword, Oblivion (multiplat, but fun, doesn't matter to me)
-PSP has been out two years longer than the PS3.
-Use correct punctuation and maybe we can understand you

Gregory, actually, it's more than just Capcom. It's Bethesda with Oblivion, which outperforms 360 significantly. It's Dirt which runs better on PS3. More and more games are coming out running better on PS3. Fact of the matter is, majority of those games with worse performance are often because 360 was the lead console during it's development. You would THINK that has something to do with it. But then again, that requires thinking. And thinking defies a world where SSX Tricky ran much worse on the Nintendo Gamecube than it did the PS2. Hell, even EA has come forward and said the performance difference is based entirely on their PS3 inexperience. More and more companies are saying they are making the systems match and in many cases surpass.

But man, you do have a point about the PS3 games lineup. I mean, how can anyone enjoy Strangelhold on the PS3 when it's out on 360? Multiplat games are only assets to Microsoft, huh? And certainly PS3 owners can't be playing Warhawk or anything like that. I'll admit, it can't stand up to Halo 3 and Bioshock but here's my problem in that regard. My fucking 360 is broken. So I ask you, what is the value of a games library when the system is constantly in the shop? Right now, I'm just glad I preordered GHIII for PS3 because my 360 still would not have returned by that release and it too, like Halo 3, would be looking useless and unloved in it's wrapper waiting for the Hexbox 360 to return.

So yeah, you can bash PS3 for supposedly not having games, just like PSP is supposedly lacking titles (Yeah, Jeanne D'Arc is crap fests compared to what drops on DS. Why just the other day I was saying "no system can have too many pet sims with Z at the end of their names."). But unlike my 360, my PS3 works. And right now, that's a hell of a lot more important to me than Halo 3.

DiRT and Oblivion came out later on the PS3 thus the developers had more time to add polish, it's not really a fair comparison.

Sheppy:

At this point, multiplatform games only benefit the 360 because you can get a 360 for significantly cheaper than a PS3. Therefore, if you don't own either (IE, prospective customer), and you are looking at software lineups for each console, multiplatform games help the 360 more than the PS3.

And about oblivion: A patch was released after the PS3 version that brings the 360 version up to the PS3's graphically. Its not that it can't be done, its that Oblivion came out a 6 months to a year earlier on the 360, and they had time to retool some things.
