Just as the plot is thickening, you may find the
reported cancellation of
Halo DS particularly sickening. IGN Nintendo editor-in-chief, Matt Cassamassina, has updated his
personal blog with footage of what appears to be the near-mythical portable version of Bungie's
ludicrously popular sci-fi shooter.
Halo DS is seen sporting the franchise's familiar cyborg, weapons, theme music and a cute logo that should prevent anyone from pronouncing it "Halods" (which sounds like a terribly debilitating gum disease).
If you still believe this to be an elaborate, attention-grabbing fake, feel free to watch an additional video on Cassamassina's blog and post a reply to a comment by IGN's Mark Bozon, who eloquently challenges you to "Call BS on that, bitches."
[Thanks, Squeekyclean]

"Haha, get ready for some teabaggi- OW! HAND CRAMP!"
Word of the street(IDF-Digital Ruler). @ Oct 2nd 2007 4:38PM
If a Halo game ever comes to the DS I hope is a Rail shooter.
LaughingTarget @ Oct 2nd 2007 4:44PM
Oddly enough, that is what I thought the player was doing to the first guy he killed.
amorbis @ Oct 2nd 2007 9:35PM
What is really funny is that when you hear the Shield Recharge sound, the shield didn't recharge...
Silver R. Wolfe @ Oct 2nd 2007 4:25PM
I'll call BS. Why have a modern FPS game that seems to operate primarily on the horizontal plane?
And if it is real... Who would want to play it?
Ska Oreo @ Oct 2nd 2007 5:23PM
I would. Douche.
Raikage (NDF - PK THUNDER RING) @ Oct 2nd 2007 4:27PM
OMG BUNGIE LEFT MS FOR NINTENDO!!! CONFIRMED!!!
megaStryke @ Oct 2nd 2007 5:05PM
Oh noes!
Joe @ Oct 2nd 2007 4:28PM
Graphics look sick and I am not meaning good but really sick. This looks worse then some DS games on the market right now. Now I know this will never happen but to me a PSP version would be better then the DS one.
Mini_Dragon @ Oct 2nd 2007 4:31PM
Remember that it was cancelled. The graphics would probably have been improved.
BPM (FDF - Hypno-Toad) @ Oct 2nd 2007 4:52PM
Like with Halo 3, they'd probably sacrifice raw polycount for a smooth framerate.
I think it looks fine for a DS game, personally. But, meh, I don't even like Halo.
bm @ Oct 2nd 2007 6:35PM
A PSP version? As in, trying to aim with the retarded little analogue tweaky thing?
No thanks.
Word of the street(IDF-Digital Ruler). @ Oct 2nd 2007 4:29PM
Score o-O?
Wow that was like watching Big foot footage.
n_revolution9 @ Oct 2nd 2007 4:33PM
Huh?
(Goes back to playing Halo DS.)
Bloo @ Oct 2nd 2007 4:34PM
I played Halo on the Lynx
mr nimblewick (SegaDF - Jogurt Ring) @ Oct 2nd 2007 4:36PM
I played multiplayer Halo on a Virtual Boy.
It was intense, but a little hard to tell the players apart.
Sean @ Oct 2nd 2007 4:59PM
I was always on the red team in Halo VB.
Michael C. Sherrin @ Oct 2nd 2007 4:34PM
Well today there's rumors of Bungie leaving Microsoft. Still, this is kind of one of those too-good-to-be true rumors: Halo on the DS. But as we've seen before, rumors that just can't die have a habit of coming true. But there has been a reported Halo prototype for the DS which might be what this video is, so I'm not positive it's real yet. But I have hope.

Really Michael C. Sherrin proprietor of prodigeek.com, you're not positive it's real? Here, check this out: 1 - this is a prototype, if you'd read the blog post you're commenting on, or the blog post it links to, they both make that pretty clear (especially the linked post on IGN) 2 - Believe me, that is far far too elaborate to be a hoax. If it were just some screenshots? okay, sure. But that video makes it pretty clear that Halo DS was in development at some point, and got decently far in said development process. Honestly, if you think that is a hoax, well... you really should take a look at the complexity of an average game's development, I suspect you're in for a mighty shock, these things take effort.
thehunter1320 @ Oct 2nd 2007 4:36PM
hell... i would have bought it...
and keep in mind when watching the footage, that build is very unfinished and almost 1 year old
DangerMouse @ Oct 2nd 2007 4:38PM
If it's real, then that draw distance is pretty damn good. Everything beyond 10 feet in metroid prime hunters looks like ass.
zeioIIDX @ Oct 2nd 2007 4:41PM
I know for a fact that the DS can pull off better sound quality than that!! That music sounded like it was coming from a GBA....so either this is fake or it was footage from the earliest build possible.
ssuk @ Oct 4th 2007 4:21AM
UNFINISHED GAME. It was a place holder...
a ham sandwich @ Oct 2nd 2007 4:41PM
even if this were real, which its not (i've rolled my eyes since day 1 of this rumor) it would be a HUGE embarrassment and insult to what is otherwise a kickass franchise
ill trooper @ Oct 2nd 2007 4:43PM
Oh, I'd definitely say 'FAQUE' because there isn't enough hopping going on!
Just kidding. Looks plausable, it seems about inline with any DS game like Metroid Hunters or whatever. Who knows? That would be a smart move. Add in a little Nintendogs-style 'Keep the Chief Fed and Happy' angle and I smell another DS hit.
Seraphim @ Oct 2nd 2007 4:43PM
Was it just me or did that sound and look very much like Goldeneye: Rogue Agent for the DS?
The AC Dude @ Oct 2nd 2007 6:34PM
Yea, thats just like Goldeneye DS.
Joshua @ Oct 2nd 2007 10:15PM
Maybe it was by the same developer?
9600baud @ Oct 2nd 2007 4:43PM
Funny the DS version has about as many pixels as the 360 version
beans @ Oct 2nd 2007 4:49PM
OH SNAP!
beans @ Oct 2nd 2007 4:49PM
OH SNAP!
albinogoldfish @ Oct 2nd 2007 6:40PM
funny even if it is a little unsporting
Autopsy15 @ Oct 2nd 2007 8:28PM
The guy makes a funny joke and gets grayed out for it? I guess Halo fans really don't have a sense of humor.
For that joke sir, I gives you plus.
bean @ Oct 2nd 2007 4:47PM
looks just like marathon
Dixonij @ Oct 2nd 2007 6:21PM
Now i would kill to have Marathon DS.
DangerMouse @ Oct 2nd 2007 4:51PM
the video's too small to tell, which makes it suspicious from the get-go. Also, the draw distance is huge, considering the limitations ds's hardware and the resolution of the ds. Check out Metroid prime hunters. Anything 10 feet in front of you looks like ass.
bm @ Oct 2nd 2007 6:32PM
What? You think they photoshopped the game playing on Matt's DS there? Whatever it is, real or some hack, it IS running on a DS.
Justin B @ Oct 2nd 2007 4:52PM
For those that played Goldeneye on the DS would see the similarities, this is Goldeneye, not Halo..sigh, nice job with the skins they have though
Secura @ Oct 2nd 2007 4:53PM
That looks like fun. More repetitive FPS action to take with you.
BPM (FDF - Hypno-Toad) @ Oct 2nd 2007 4:54PM
PHOTSHOPPED!
(Oh, wait... It's a video, not a single image... umm...)
AFTERIMAGED!
WiNG @ Oct 2nd 2007 4:54PM
wow just wow
I call fake. I bet its a reskin of some other project.
Dan @ Oct 2nd 2007 5:36PM
Really liked you videos. Will there be new episodes?
Kev_da_Ninja @ Oct 3rd 2007 8:28AM
It looks like a Goldeneye DS reskin to me...but thats just me, I'm a cynical bastard.
ZenGaijin @ Oct 2nd 2007 4:55PM
Wow, that looks bad and couple that with bad DS controls and you got yourself a hand cramping spree.
I wasn't a big fan of Metroid Hunters
bm @ Oct 2nd 2007 6:53PM
Try to rest the DS on something like... your lap. Then if you still get hand cramps during MPH, you should definitely see a doctor.
It beats analogue stick controls any day.
Alexander @ Oct 2nd 2007 4:58PM
Man that would have been sweet
(looks for petition site)
samfish (MSDF- Nurse Outfit!) @ Oct 2nd 2007 4:58PM
Haha – looks like Cassamassina just jammed his foot up all the doubter's asses.
megaStryke @ Oct 2nd 2007 5:04PM
Psssh! You think that'll stop people? Just look at some of the comments above you.
KiraXD @ Oct 2nd 2007 5:03PM
easily done mod on any older PC FPS... could have taken less than a day to make even... not that i call BS on it... but just know how easy it is to do.
Martin @ Oct 2nd 2007 5:06PM
Multiplayer still looks fun and any Halo on the go is cool with me.
