We're suckers for Bavaria, so if we can't go to Oktoberfest, we're going to enjoy "Brewfest" in World of Warcraft. So grab yourself some Löwenbräu, or Paulaner if you prefer, plop in front of your computer and get ready to eat some virtual pretzels and win some lederhosen.
You can check out WoW Insider for suggestions on how to get the most out of your Brewfest holiday. The general information is that the event runs from Oct. 2-16. There will be complimentary mugs to get your avatar nice and sloshed, then you can purchase "Eyesight Enhancing Romance Goggles" to find the perfect mate at the festival. There will also be ram racing, mystery hunts and you can even be hired to advertise the event in major cities. All of the events will net you tickets that you can trade in for the fabulous prizes above. Happy Brewfest to those in Azeroth!

MapleEurope has been having an Oktoberfest event for a few weeks now, yet it doesn't get mentioned (despite the fact Maple Story globaly is more popular than WoW).

And? So are most games reported on gaming sites. They still get equal press coverage.

It amuses me, how much people think it's "cool" to hate something a lot of people like for no real reason at all, even to the point of inventing excuses for it.

the only real way to improve in this game is to spend more time in it. you don't really gain skill as a gamer, your character gains skill. success in this game is in a 1-to-1 ratio with TIME SPENT PLAYING. i hate games like this, that's why i hate this game with a passion.

Actually, as any PvPer or Raider worth his salt will tell you, time spent playing is no replacement for skill, in this game or any other.

I dunno about Maple Story but half the "updates" in WoW are copies of pretty much stuff straight out of Guild Wars.

Which is assuming that Guild Wars is wholly original. What was the quote? "What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun." Everything's derivative, to some extent. Get off yer high horse already.

ASC you have a good point but I don't think it is biased more than WOW insider is linked to joystiq, they are all part of the same group. Hence if there was a maple insider we would probably hear more stories about maple story. And yes WOW is pretty stale, of course they get their ideas from other games.
I remember when they were bragging about having 9million subscriptions. Now their advertisements are saying with 8million players around the world. With the consoles ramping up, and PC games coming out like TF2, WOW is getting into bad territory.
