We're not sure if you're on Metal Gear Solid 4overload yet, but we thought some of you might find this new interview with Kojima Productions producer Ryan Payton of some interest. Sure, he talks about some of the Western influences on the game and some of the nuances of Metal Gear Online, but he also gives up the details you crave on monkey in a diaper and his buddy Sisqo/Demolition Man-era Wesley snipes.
As Payton is quick to correct, it's a monkey in pants (boo!) whose taken on a larger role in the game (yay!) as development has progressed. Also, Sisqo is actually named Drebin and is actually an arms dealer, not a fallen star of dance hall R&B. Let me see that claymore! Clay-more-more-more-more-more.
The real question was... can we have it drink beer(or smoke ganja like in "Grandma's Boy")? That would be an amazing escape sequence in the jeep... having 'Feethands' the monkey drive us throughout the war torn city; easily beating out the same sequence seen in MGS1 and HALO3.
Primates and alcohol? It's a winning recipe for humor.
MGS Overload? No. We are on HALO overload. I don't think we'll be choked off with MGS4 Mountain Dew. Payton's comments sound like he strayed too far and recovered.
"You will play Snake at the beginning, you will play him at the end."
What about in the middle? He said there would be no new playable characters introduced. What about past playable characters? Will Big Boss return after all?
Very true. Metal Gear Solid news is a welcome relief from the Halo onslaught. And hopefully people won't kill me, but Metal Gear Solid is just a better game. And there won't be any fake-up-scared high-def-ness for Solid Snake. No sir.
I want this game! I am still playing MGO (it get's the most time on my ps3!) and yes the servers are still up in europe...until end of this month :(
Anyway, here's a prediction. Eva's ovum was used to insert Big Boss's DNA (Les Enfants Terrible project)...so kind of like Snake's (Big) mama :D ...As far as I know we haven't heard anything about the surrogate mother of Snake (and Liquid and solidus) in MGS1, 2 or 3 or Portable Ops. Also Eva saying "call me big mama" in the latest trailer is a dead give away ;)
It's good to see Joystiq support the niche groups out there, as I am sure all 50 people out there who own PS3's will really appreciate the extended coverage they give to MGS4.
Well I have to say, I do not own a PS3, but I own every metal gear game out there and I'm definetly buying a PS3 for this, even if it is expensive, it just wouldn't feel right on a 360 (which I do own). I really can't wait, but after solid snakes story is over, I sure as hell will be sad.
The flashback system is actually really well thought in my opinion: if I had a PS3, me not having played the series yet being intrigued by the final chapter, I'd still want to somehow be able to play and follow MGS4. I guess that the Blu-Ray's extra space comes in handy, huh?
Dirty ingame magazines in high res = win. Auto-aim for MGO = epic fail.

-10 pts. for a "Thong Song" reference; no one needed to be reminded of that.
