Old people Wii bowling is awesome! -- Episode 1
The Erickson communities are a network of senior housing facilities around the country. The last minute of the video gives you their marketing spiel, but everything before that is cute in the Golden Girls way we dearly miss. So turn off your cynicism for five minutes and just enjoy. There are two more episodes in the series that haven't come out yet, but we'll be sure to post them when they do.

I can't believe I just watched that.

You and me both.

Holy crap that video was good. Everybody watch it!
Six Pack!
Sidewinder
The Queen of Spares!
The Hook!
Six Pack says "You got served!"
This was brilliant.
Also, THIS is part of the Wii's revolution. You won't be seeing Halo 3 do this any time soon. Come on trolls, argue that expanding the market hurts the market, I dare you! A badass oldtimer named Six Pack will serve your asses!
License to ill @ Oct 3rd 2007 7:48AM
Yeah I guess thats why the wii also has a casual attach rate, bet that group of old folks only owns one wii game...
baby sea tuna @ Oct 3rd 2007 7:56AM
Jeez, don't call people trolls when in the midst of trolling. Pot, have you met kettle?
Jake @ Oct 3rd 2007 7:57AM
Only in fanboyish console wars do young people use popularity amongst senior citizens as a positive. ;)
Matt B @ Oct 3rd 2007 9:12AM
YA! They expanded the market! And it is the only game they will ever play since these people don't buy games.
Congrats!

Yeah, screw those old people. What good have they done since WWII? Oh, you mean they invented everything we take for granted and love now? Hmm...
upz @ Oct 3rd 2007 11:17AM
Rubang, just stop, man. You're embarassing us all with your overly enthusiastic fanboyism. Claiming uncool stuff to be cool does not automatically make you the Fonz.
On another note, nimblewick, if you really wanted to respect old people, you wouldn't just let them rot in old folks' homes. Claiming we owe them so much and then kicking them out of your home into a retirement prison is not respect. This is one of the weakest aspects of modern Western society. In Eastern cultures, they live with and take care of their old people. Just like, oh I don't know, those old people lived with and took care of you for all those years.
Chameleon @ Oct 3rd 2007 11:23AM
@mr nimblewick
agreed
Rubang B (NDF - Heart) @ Oct 3rd 2007 2:04PM
So far I've been called a troll, and people have said that casuals have low attach rates, but nobody responded to my "argue that expanding the market hurts the market, I dare you!" Because it's IMPOSSIBLE. As you were, gentlemen.
License to ill @ Oct 3rd 2007 3:46PM
Argue with yourself because no one cares, you are the only one arguing that point which is kinda pathetic. The fact is the casual market isn't helping Nintendo fans in getting the best in third party titles period! When it comes to third party support Wii is the Gamecube all over again...
Rubang B (NDF - Heart) @ Oct 3rd 2007 5:48PM
Between now and the end of the year, the Wii has more 3rd party exclusives than the 360 and the PS3 combined. What are you talking about?
coolius @ Oct 3rd 2007 5:52AM
My 78 year old grandad loves wii bowling and usually gets around 150! He's no good at golf though.
Adam @ Oct 3rd 2007 7:35AM
I just bought a wii yesterday b/c my roommate wanted one and she is about to go through very serious cancer treatment. She was excited, which made me happy. But what's with the graphics? I guess a 60" TV magnifies the fact of such low resolution. Regardless, my roomie kicked my arse in boxing. Wii liked playing bowling as well.
zwarrior @ Oct 3rd 2007 7:44AM
That vid just made Seniority cool and exciting, I thought turning 21 was a big deal, now I cant wait to turn 70!
Rob Accomando @ Oct 3rd 2007 8:16AM
Hell yeah! That's what I'm going to be doing when I get to that age. Not comatose in front of a TV.
Funny video though.
Michael C. Sherrin @ Oct 3rd 2007 9:09AM
I hate that I enjoy the same thing as old people. What is the world coming to?

It looks to me from this video that these people are having a blast and why some of you can't handle that is hilarious...
And why the hell are any of you ASSuming that this place is a prison camp or that these people are locked in there? I checked out the blog for this and the website these people chose to live there and I can see why...
you pathetic dorks need to quit crying because some 60 year old has more fun and friends than you lame asses ever will.
Face it even seniors are cooler than you dorks now...quit hatin'
The only thing "depressing about this is the fact that some idiots on this site hate life so much that they can't handle other people enjoying it.
Juice @ Oct 3rd 2007 9:42AM
Not one wiimote flew out of a hand
Admiral @ Oct 3rd 2007 10:20AM
yawn....
Why does every article about the Wii sound like a politician running for office?
Look! The Wii can rehab injured soldiers! The Wii can help the elderly! The Wii can promote family values! The Wii can kiss babies!
Feh. These stories ceased being endearing 6 months ago.
CubeGuy @ Oct 3rd 2007 11:17AM
Really?
*holds baby up to wii*
It's... It's not working.
...
*hits baby with wii*
Sean @ Oct 3rd 2007 11:38AM
Mmm, Golden Girls.

If you hate the WIi, you hate old people and that would make you a GD bastard.
+1 for human interest stories and the mostly jaded response they got from world-weary 20-something gamers.

I, for one, found the video profoundly depressing.
I hope I'm not interned in an old-age camp and playing SUPERBOWLING SIMULATOR 2055 someday.
ThornedVenom @ Oct 4th 2007 3:07AM
It saddens me to see old people locked up in a retirement home. But it makes me happy that they can find immense joy out of videogaming. =)
Triggerhappy @ Oct 4th 2007 5:24PM
AGAIN..."why the hell are any of you ASSuming that this place is a prison camp or that these people are locked in there?"
Have you ever seen Golden Girls? These are retirement communities. These people choose to live there...it is not depressing OBVIOUSLY look at these people. They are playing the Wii with friends in a community center or something...not a prison camp.
The most depressing or "sad" thing on here is how out of touch many of you are.. u r more likely the ones lockedup only it's in your bedrooms with nothing but the glow from a screen to interact with.
