And no, not Charisma Carpenter, though, yes, that would be an inspired bit of casting. No, the man behind Gears of War said that the film version of Marcus Fenix should be able to light up a room with his charm ... even if it doesn't look like he could lift a Lancer above his head.
"I get a lot of forum posts where Gears fans tell us we need to cast this wrestler as Marcus. I don't give a f**k if the guy's buff or six foot five," CliffyB. told GameDaily BIZ. "What matters most is that this guy is charismatic and he can act and is somebody compelling that you want to watch on screen. The Rock is the rare exception of a wrestler who is that charismatic that he can carry a movie. If they cast four mongoloid wrestlers in Gears and they're just as exciting to watch as paint dry on the screen, nobody's going to go see it."
The Rock, huh? ... Do you hear that? That's the sound of bloggers across the planet Googling screen captures of The Game Plan.

Probably a few Raspberries, though.

If they even do make it. Newline is about to take a nose dive.
You're the man now dog!
and i don't think Marcus will be the same without benders voice behind him.
Anyway, Fenix is not really a deep character, similar to Kratos except less of a douche, I don't know how you can add charismatic qualities to that.

They should cast someone like Clive Owen. I mean look how he did in Sin City.
that's funny because they are both bi-racial

Another problem was that the Rock wasn’t the hero but the villain which was a bad choose since well I and probably everyone else expected The rock as the main hero.
The rock is a good actor but without a good roll it doesn’t matter how good you are.
I think they had a lot to work with in Doom, actually. The portal to hell angle was ripe for the picking, and could've opened up a lot of plot possibilities. Not to mention that it would've made a set up for a sequel easy as well.
It doesn't get much more sinister than demons from hell. By adding a human element to it, they made the threat in the movie surmountable.
I agree about the selection of the Rock as the antagonist. He said it was his choice though, as it's the only way he would've got to fire the BFG. Frig... if that's all it would've taken, it should've been time for a rewrite.
A whole new writing team would've been better though.

I don't know, Cliffy. You pretty much did that in the actual game, and people still seemed to like it.

I think Bobby Cannavale would make a good Dom.

Leonard Nimoy as Marcus Fenix.
"Well I hope you left enough room for my fist because I’m going to ram it into your stomach and break your goddamn spine!"

But I think Gerard Butler would do a good job. He's a great (and underrated) actor who is now ripped from 300.

He has the voice, he has the build, he can act, and the man has charisma in spades. Not to mention he's used to working in weird stuff like full body makeup, the Liefeldian armour GoW has wouldn't cause him any problems.

Sure he's small but really charismatic.
and a badass!
