Gears of War emerges on PC Nov. 6
The PC version of Gears of War -- that would be the personal computer version mind you, not the parentally correct one which replaces all the chainsaws with comically large walkie-talkies -- has been scheduled for release on November 6th. Shacknews reports that the testosterone explosion epic will be bolstered by loads of new content, including 5 single-player chapters, three multiplayer maps, a game editor and a showdown with the Brumak. (In case you're not familiar with Gears of War's monster lexicon, the Brumak is a very large monster that you'll want to shoot as much possible.)

I've already beaten the 360 version, but with all the extra content on the PC, I am feeling like I...need...to...buy. Must...resist...urges.

Damn, they are so right - my pc is garishly lit...but ya got to love the blue fans and text scrolling on the ram. Its like my computer is a small model of times square!
Mr. P @ Oct 4th 2007 5:16PM
My computer is grey.
joeyg @ Oct 4th 2007 3:52PM
i was playing the 360 version last nite..somewhere in act I, i lost my main weapon (the one w/chainsaw)...Towards the end of Act II, there was a cutscene that showed me with me chainsaw gun...
oh well....
Word of the street(IDF-Digital Ruler). @ Oct 4th 2007 3:52PM
So are you people ready to buy the same game again just for the extra content, because I'm ready :D
Seriously they should at least put the Chapter 6 in the xlive,I don't give a crap about the extra maps but Chapter 6 is a must.
sicsided @ Oct 5th 2007 12:33AM
screw extra content, most of us modders want the Unreal3 Engine to mess with
xXFenixKnight13Xx @ Oct 4th 2007 4:01PM
Need...xtra...content...on...Live (heavy breathing)
So Nov on PC, and 1st Quarter 08 for 360 owners right =) (wishful thinking)
xXFenixKnight13Xx @ Oct 4th 2007 4:05PM
I can read it now:
Joystiq
GoW Xtra PC Content coming to Xbox360
followed by 200 comments from haters and lovers haha
SoulBlade @ Oct 4th 2007 4:26PM
it's bound to happen. either that, or instead they'll just release GoW 2 that contains the extra content and then some.
Word of the street(IDF-Digital Ruler). @ Oct 4th 2007 6:27PM
They should release it,I mean you can download effing Shivering isles why the crap not Episode 6?,I would pay 10 to 15 bucks for it but not 20$ I mean is not Half-life 2:Episode 1 or anything.
Shawn @ Oct 4th 2007 9:26PM
the pc version uses the same engine as the updated Unreal Tournament 3 engine, so it's not compatible with the 360 version. Although it could be done, Epic is wisely spending their time spoofing up the pc version ,which is sure to be a hit.
bl13 @ Oct 4th 2007 4:25PM
Did this article say the PC version has 5 new single-player chapters? Like doubling the length of the game?
Ludwig Kietzmann @ Oct 4th 2007 5:30PM
No, you're thinking of "acts," which consist of several chapters. The five new chapters are probably interspersed throughout the existing acts.
Micah Neumark @ Oct 4th 2007 4:26PM
What about the promised Mac version. No news on that front or is it on the same disc (which I somehow doubt)?
JB @ Oct 4th 2007 4:39PM
Does anyone have any idea what the system requirements for this game are ?? I really want to know so I can hold off on buying an xbox 360 for a while longer
Geist @ Oct 4th 2007 5:02PM
Ah PC. It's always better on PC. Yay!
Word of the street(IDF-Digital Ruler). @ Oct 4th 2007 6:30PM
My friend Halo here begs to differ
Geist @ Oct 4th 2007 6:33PM
I beg to differ on your begging. If you're referring to Halo 1/2, then I prefer it on a high-resolution monitor with better controls.
Word of the street(IDF-Digital Ruler). @ Oct 4th 2007 7:41PM
Actually wasn't the controlls in Halo 2 what killed the multiplayer...
Shawn @ Oct 4th 2007 9:27PM
Halo ? lol!! Half Life kicks halo in the teeth and nuts. give me a f'ing break....halo lol....
Geist @ Oct 5th 2007 4:08PM
I concur with Shawn's...um...'analysis'. Sure Halo is a great game on consoles, but there are multiplayer games on the PC that just blow it away. Team Fortress 2 immediately comes to mind.
Ryan de michigan @ Oct 4th 2007 5:05PM
I'll just say that if Rein sold us (xbox owners) the new maps, I'd put Halo down in an instant.
also, I'm wondering what sorts of freedom the map editor will allow us.
Jonah Falcon @ Oct 4th 2007 5:25PM
So, are you a Marcus or a Dom?

Best 3rd Ad in the world, scratch that the best 3rd ad ever created by the human kind ever,YEAH!
Hashbrown_Hunter @ Oct 4th 2007 6:52PM
Anybody know the system requirements?
And I hope they release a demo...
StoneGold @ Oct 4th 2007 7:40PM
Would the politically correct PC version contain new dialog for Cole Train?
Jeff @ Oct 4th 2007 8:23PM
Definitely picking this up, since I don't own a 360.
Probably playing it with a 360 controller though; from what I've played with friends, I'm not sure I'd like it too much with keyboard/mouse.
And as for Halo being better on PC... Halo 1 PC, the only port that actually had effort put into it, easily beats its console counterpart.
Shawn @ Oct 4th 2007 9:31PM
hell no, played it with a gamepad already, I would much rather be able to aim with my mouse, and have tighter hitboxes with better AI. Tighter hitboxes won't work as well with analog sticks, unless there's autoaim available, which I don't believe is in the pc version. It will control just like an fps, only you can see you body in order to grab cover. Aiming is still aiming, third person or first person.
ZippyDSMlee @ Oct 4th 2007 8:30PM
when the 360 stops dieing every 6 months/new game I'll get one.
untill then I will double check and confirm a PC game is not a unpolished nightmare before spending a dime on it.
BTW this means I wont be buying weak console ports like Bioshock(broken) or Jericho(consoleized), I have this rule about not buying a 20$ game for more than 25$.....
And yes I have no rule about being a idiot in public =^^= la la la la *falls off cliff*
ranting and insanity aside I hope its as good of a port as Halo 2(minus the fake vista only BS)
MO @ Oct 4th 2007 9:42PM
I think I'll be able to run this. I like it.
SirMal @ Oct 5th 2007 7:21AM
WHY HASN'T ANYBODY MENTIONED THE BRUMAK FIGHT FUCK YEAH
Sean @ Oct 5th 2007 11:14AM
Has anyone mentioned having to sign up for Window Live to play multiplayer?
Just another Shadowrun to me then.
