For the love of Christ, If I see one more stupid ass complaint about the resolution that Halo 3 runs at, I’ll cry. Hey fuckface, YOU WOULDN’T HAVE KNOWN ABOUT IT IF SOME NERD WITH A CAMERA DIDN’T WASTE AN AFTERNOON COUNTING FRIKKIN PIXELS!

Seriously, move on.

not to humor the deadplasmacell dude, but i noticed the resolution first day i got it. it was on "The Storm" mission and i could see some mad aliasing issues with the factory edges in the distance.

With a "real" 1080p game like Elder Scrolls 4 i had no such problems. a 1080p game should be crisp and clear throughout. so i think its pretty stupid of Bungie to false advertise the gamebox like that.

Halo 3 i love you and will continue to love you, but you are so way overhyped. way to reel in the people Bungie!

I paid $59.99 for 720p resolution, which means I PAID $0.08 per horizontal line of resolution. Since I'm only getting 640p, I want a $6.66 refund.

Start forming a line for that $6.66 refund, hehe.

Even with the hype, I still enjoyed playing this game. The game needs to be advertised that online play is the only way to play this game!

Elder Scrolls 4 isn't a "real 1080p" game either. 1080p wasn't even an option on the 360 at the time. It's being upscaled.

I think there's a lot of confusion surrounding this and people equating anti-aliasing issues with other things that don't always correspond to each other. I can run a computer game at 1280x1024 and still see jaggies if I don't have anti-aliasing enabled.

So...much...money. I just want to know how many Xbox 360s were sold this month. That'll be what matters. Cause who knows when Halo 4 will come out (at launch with the Xbox 720?). So it matters more that Halo 3 really spread the 360 brand into more households. Think it can break half a million? Any takers?

umm, no im looking at the back of my copy of the GOTY edition of Elder Scrolls 4 right now and it says it's compatible with my 1080p TV.

even my old scratched up copy of Elder Scrolls 4 could go up to 1080i not just 720p.

the resolution of it is much much clearer than Halo 3. Halo 3 has the resolution of Doom 3 and Riddick for the Xbox 1, no joke.

i still stand that if you are going to have "1080p" on your game box it really better do it. it's plain false advertisement for the HDTV owner. "Oh cool! it is compatible with my 1080p TV!" when it's really not. =(

seriously, every forum that i go into there is one or a couple haters, making fun of the resolution of halo 3, this is kinda making me sick by now. cause now all the halo haters have a reason to get all the fanboys going, before it released on the 25th was it?(got mine on the 21st) they had no arguement. all they would have to say is "halo sucks" to get us going, i only have one question; does the resolution really matter that much? if there was no game and you were just watching the screen with 1080p resolution, would it be better then the game? i can already hear all you say yes, so no need to waste more of your life trying to prove to the halo community that it sucks cause i'll tell you a little secret right now(they don't care what you think. all the haters out there deal with the fact that halo 3 is going to beat out the sales records of your precious record holder !!!!MARIO!!!3!!!!

no it doesnt matter if it ran at 1080p or 720p at all. Halo 3 is a really fun game regardless of the graphics issue.

what is wrong however is the false advertisement issue. when you make features for a game and print that promise on the box they should be there. agreed?

that's an agreeable comment, but your issue is whoever printed the label, why would bungie just strait up screw over it's community like that for no reason? maybe to save money? or maybe it was cause they thought that the way the game was being developed, all the greats look outside the box to create new and exciting games, bungie just chose to use two buffers and render it the way they did because of lighting, and the rays of sunlight coming through the caves as you drive through tsuvo highway puts a little smile on my face, you gotta admit it does for you too.

How is that false advertising? the box also says 720p and 1080i. is that false advertising? what about when a game is in 720p. I dont see anyone complaining about the box saying 1080i and 1080p. The fact is it might not be native resolution but the 360 can upscale the game to those resolutions with no problem. yes, it might not look as good as a game with native 1080p but it still supports 1080p upscaled. I play in 1080p and I dont have a problem with it. The last time I checked anything over 480p is HD. It still looks better than most games out right now.

FIFA won't beat that, because it came out in Europe (UK at least) in the same week, and Halo 3 beat it, despite FIFA being out on every format under the sun.

Oh c'mon guys...the 360/Halo haters have to have something to latch onto. Let them talk.
I personally could give a shit less about what resolution it runs in. It looks amazing and more importantly plays amazing. The lighting effects are top notch..you can try and dispute this if you want but you would be lying to yourself.
Congrats on the RECORD BREAKING PROFITS...I myself added $130 to that..and I am not disappointed.

@Scott

aside from the sweet water effects (which are better than bioshock) the lighting is what reminds me i'm playing a next gen game. it is really very pretty. i wish i could say the same for the human character models. yech.

@26

while Halo 3 may "work" with 1080p output most people think that 1080p support means it will look really freaking awesome,not an upscaling of a 640p resolution.

if my game looks no different from 1080p to 1080i and 720p then yeah, i see that as false advertisement.

bungie's involvement or not, i think it's still a stupid decision to make the buyer believe Halo 3 takes advantage of all that a 1080p TV has to offer.

Look Ryan.

No game runs in 1080p across any console system period. Every game is upscaled except 1 game. 1 game in history. Virtua Tennis 3 or something like that. A not-that-great Tennis game released for xbox 360/ps3.

However, if you put in anyyyy game for the xbox 360, the signal that comes out of the back of your xbox 360 going to your tv is 1080p. (assuming you set it to 1080p and your tv supports it)

Its not false advertising. a 1080p signal is going to your tv. The box says 1080p. If you fooled yourself into thinkin that 1080p is the ultimate in high definition super duper viewing! weeeee! Maybe you bought into the PS3 hype about 'The High def starts when we say it starts as we're 1080p!.

Regardless, all console systems upscale and have a lower native resolution. Even oblivion. Yes oblivion may have less jaggies, but I've enver seen 100 enemies on the screen at once with sevearl highly detailed spaceships flying ahead battling it out at the same time.

Sure, they could have made a high details game where there's only 5-10 enemies at a time on the screen(see gears of war) but it wouldn't be halo.

If you really are sooooooooooo concerned about your 1080p, why don't you go play Virtua Tennis 3? Its got 2 characters up to 4 characters in double matches. Its a really involved indepth game. HUGEEEEEEEE number of enemies on the screen at once (2). So its no wonder they can make their character models as detailed and rendered in 1080p, there's only 4 of them. Even less than GOW or Halo 1.
