ICO or Shadow of the Colossus sequel may be in the works

The rabid fanbase of Team ICO (Ico, Shadow of the Colossus) reportedly sent in "a couple hundreds of e-mails" to Official PlayStation Magazine last month, hoping the outlet could glean some new information on their current project. This month, OPM published one of those letters and provided some promising statements.

When asking Kaz Hirai about Team ICO's current happenings, another executive in the room reportedly blurted out "I'm pretty sure they're doing the sequel." No other information was discerned, given that Ico and Shadow of the Colossus are based on, erm, "similar" worlds and art styles, we're interested in what direction Fumitu Ueda and company will take in terms of game play.

Well its obviously going to be exclusive I'm just wondering if its actually worth a PS3. Back at GDC and even at E3 2007 I was sure to pick up a PS3, they had three triple A titles- Lair, Warhawk and Heavenly Sword... But we all know how those titles turned out. Warhawks okay- but for a game thats 3 years in the making its just not good enough.

Regardless this game looks good but won't be anything too special.

Heres how it works with team Ico.

1. Unique graphics
2. Good plot and story
3. Bring out the game!

Team Ico is known for rushing there game because they just want to make money. Also sadly Team Ico has always sacrificed gameplay.

I will buy a PS3 if they confirm a sequel to Shadow... that game was amazing on the PS2, I can only imagine how much greater it'd be on a next-gen system.

(or hell, bump up the graphics and re-release both Ico and Shadow)

The only thing a didnt like about Shadow of the Colossus was the horrible framerate. But now, with the power of the Cell, thats a problem from the past (well, if the sequel was on the 360, it will run at 60fps and at 30fps in the PS3, still better than the 15fps on the PS2)

Yep it sucks is Sony exclusive but let's hope the 40GB model price doesn't obligates fans of Shadow of the colossus to sell a kidney to fund a new shiny PS3 or as you call it the Big black brick of phail.

I mean, you're talking about their sports lineup. Let's look at their history with that, shall we? For two years in a row, EA shipped a Madden on PSP which crashed in the franchise mode. FRANCHISE MODE!?!? Ever hear of testers, EA? Or let's not forget their most recent laughable attempt on the Wii, Boogie. How exactly do you create a rhythm game and remove the game portion? Apparently working a game into their WiiToys software lineup is so very hard to do. And it's not like they have competing software like Space Channel 5, Bust A Groove, Karaoke Revolution, Singstar, Samba De Amigo, or even DDR that they could steal from like they did the rest of their Wii lineup. I mean, how much Lazy can you cram into a $60 game? Couldn't make it fun so they just made it stable and shipped.

EA, yo. I could understand if you were using Valve or Codemasters, or even Activision... but EA? This is like getting tutoring on Calculus from the guy who takes your ticket at the theatre.

Well, I think you are the way you are to get attention. You started off here as a somewhat positive poster, usually saying something intelligent or observational about the topic while trying to defend the Wii from other people, but you seemed open minded.

Flash forward to now, and you've simply become the thing you came on here to fight off - a troll.

Actually, normally anytime I say ANYTHING, I get jumped for being a Sony fanboy, queuing Sony bashes, and I just sit there and laugh to myself. I mean, I'm a guy that has the preference towards Sony (after Quest 64 was being hyped as the "RPG you've been waiting for" -NP, I turned to the Dark Side with Xenogears and FFVII and it's been my primary console ever since. So far this gen, though, I have more games on 360, which is I should really stop buying them since my system is in the shop... again...). I mean, I just got done playing more Twilight Princess for the night. I never thought in a million years I would live to see BeyBlade Link.

I try not to bash systems too much (It's hard not to have vemon for a system you've had repaired five times now, though) and I do try to remain impartial. But being a Sony fan here gives you a fat ass target on your back.

Then of course people like Shags, GodisaMyth, and Konny don't make it easier. Guilt by association sucks.

Shadow of the Colossus is on the top of my PS2 get list. I would love to see a sequel or even just an enhanced next-gen version. It would be a good game for DLC.

It irritates me when people think that SOTC and ICO are two different series. SOTC is the prequel to ICO. Just because the two games play nothing alike doesn't mean they're not related. It's just that people have come to expect sequels/prequels to be little more than graphical updates. It's sad, I know.
