Fernado,

That was almost civil of you. Are you on drugs right now?

Well, maybe someone will actually comment on Mass effect soon.

I find the lack of a toy Normandy disturbing.

Pity such an awesome game will have such a meh collector's edition.

There's nothing really iconic about Mass Effect to make into a figure. You can make a Big Daddy figure because anyone who knows anything about Bioshock knows what a Big Daddy is. The cat helmet of Halo 3 is also iconic, you see that helmet you just automatically know it's Halo.

Mass Effect's either random futuristic thingy or the two chicks doing it, the first is "meh" while the second MS would never allow.

Can't really add anything to game itself, especially on 360 when you'll just rip everyone else off down the road on the XBLM.

Art and fiction books are it really, but even the art book is questionable, oh boy random futuristic crap. The reason it works for Blizzard is that they're Blizzard, art is what they do best.

I think the complaints should be aimed at the uninspired cover-art, instead of the contents of the collector's edition. Blech.

Old, crappy Hollywood formula. Person, bigger person, person, ominous dude in the background.

A map of the starsystem would have been cool, but may have had to hide to much info to be useful. But I never buy collectors editions as I'm too cheap. Hopefully this means they spent more time working on the game and less on ways to sell it.

They need to start doing more exclusive things with limited and collectors editions that are in the game itself. For example, I hate my Legendary Halo 3 (http://timnc.com/?p=15). I would not hate it at all if I got some "legendary" looking armor for Halo 3 Multiplayer and was exclusive only for Legendary buyers. Extra cars for racers, extra weapons, etc. Blizzard gives pets in their CEs for WoW. THAT is the kind of stuff I'm talking about.

I bought a collector's edition once for (game not mentioned). It came with and art book and foldouts. I looked at it once and then never again. As for bonus DVDs, has anyone ever watched one? I'm not trying to make a point, I honestly want to hear from people who have watched bonus DVDs for a game.

I enjoyed the Cortana documentary on the H3 bonus disc and some of the stuff on Bioshock, but other than that yeah, they're kind of a waste.

Unless you're an aspiring developer, then maybe you'll find them really interesting. Personally, I'm not, so I don't.

thats the uk box, our standard tvs are 50hz, but 60hz-same as american tvs is becoming quite common and a game in 60hz looks slightly better than a game in 50hz

way too many freaking games have CE's/LE's now.. it's not even cool. That, and the special versions should not have dumb ass writing all over it, they should look cooler and better, and come in a better case.

That being said, I'm canceling my Mass Effect Pre order now.

...and reserving the CE :|

What's with all the BBFC 18 tbc and the PEGI 18+ tbc stuff, the BBFC has already given it a 12 certificate.

Honestly, I think I'm the only one who prefers art books and soundtracks in Limited Editions to figurines and whatnot. It honestly only serves to make clutter. Maybe if I worked in an office, where desk personality really helps the job quality, but no.

That being said, I'm also tired of the recent trend of making the Limited Edition box art mad fugly. I think the BioShock art was nice, but it really belonged on a tin case. That whole thing was a mess. Though I think Final Fantasy XII's was done very tastefully, on the other hand.

The LE art shouldn't just simply be the normal box art in a sepia monochrome, with some text letting you know it is, indeed, the limited edition, and you're not just looking at the regular box art through shit-tinted glasses.

Here's a good idea for Mass Effect collectors edition: A holographic map of the galaxy and the planets that you might visit.

If a game has the distinct possibility of being solid, I'll always go collectors version if the price difference is $10 or so. That's only two less Starbucks visits. Even if the extras aren't earth shattering, why not?

For example, Mass Effect and COD4 will both be solid enough to merit a CE purchase. Maybe even Assassin's Creed. But something like Army of Two or whatever, probably not.

This is one game I am "definitely" buying.
Can't wait, can't wait.

Oh, and the box art is "blah".

Wish it did come with a lil' toy Normandy.
*sigh*
