We don't typically get political here on Joystiq, but there's something we've just got to say: Dennis Kucinich is exactly like Billy Joel. (And no, it's not just that he married someone far more attractive than himself.) If you get a group sitting around a table and one mentions that he likes Billy Joel, slowly the whole table will start to open up, going from "Yeah, 'River of Dreams' was pretty good" to "Actually, I celebrate the guy's entire canon." That's what Kucinich is like for Democrats: They secretly love him, but you know they're going to go for the safe pick like Clinton or Obama. Or, to continue our earlier analogy, Bob Dylan.
Perhaps that's why Dennis Kucinich opening up shop in the real world's digital consolation prize, Second Life, makes so much sense. Perhaps avatars will be able to express their true feelings, letting Kucinich supporters really fly their flags. Who knows? Maybe it could translate to him opening up a gap, getting the nomination and taking the presidency. ... Well, president of Second Life. But you've got to start somewhere.

Voted down??? I'm so disappointed...But alas, its just as I suspected. There are plenty of pinkos (aside from Mr. Kucinich) rabidly patrolling these boards. You really shouldn't be so sensitive about it. Embrace your communist inner feelings...That way the rest of us can stay the heck away from you.

He might not win the presidency. But damn, his wife is hot. It's almost worth it to vote for him just so we could say that the US has the hottest leader's spouse in history. And for his wife's hotness alone, it's scientifically impossible to feel sorry for him.
I don't agree with quite a few of his positions, but I give him full credit for being about as up front and honest as anyone I've ever seen in politics. I wouldn't vote for Dennis. But I can respect him even without considering his wife.

Cleveland is sick of him? That's news to us.
The fact is, Kucinich is a pretty effective Congress Critter who does a lot for his district (and lord knows, Cleveland needs all the help it can get..), even in spite of the fact that he keeps running vanity campaigns for President.

Man, I love Kucinich. He is completely awesome, one of my political heroes. I wish he were a viable candidate though. And his wife is smokin hot.

I think Kucinich is awesome. He's compassionate, practical and driven. But, I suppose that's not what you guys in the US want in a president (George W. Bush twice. TWICE!?), huh?

Now to be fair, the first election Bush came across as Compassionate, practical, and driven. The second election he was just practical and driven.
Also, the US has an unwritten policy of not changing presidents during war time. Truman was the exception.

2 questions:
Can you sell "sex" on Second Life?
and to follow that up:
Can you be arrested in the First Life for prostitution in the Second Life?

Amen! I'm sick of the media choosing the candidates for us. Dennis Kucinich is probably the best candidate that the Democrats have, but he's been virtually ignored by the mainstream media. It's a shame and it's a scam.
Kudos to you, Joystiq, for mentioning Kucinich in a positive light. I'm voting for the man in 08 - it's a long shot but I hope he wins!

That's why we hold primaries - so you can vote for whichever fringe candidate you choose. But when it comes to the general election, you'd better vote for the Democrat nominee or the Republican nominee. Anything else is a vote for the other guy.

America's corporate media outlets (the ones that help sell us War) won't let Dennis Kucinich speak let alone win. They want us to want Hillary because she is the only one they have a chance of beating, and if they do lose to her they feel confident she is open to more Wars.

If not wars, expansion of executive power in the least, which of course can be taken advantage of when/if they ever get in power again.

I voted Kucinich in the 2004 primaries and I'm gonna do it again. He's the only candidate who voted against the war, and voted against any funding whatsoever, and will actually get us the fuck out of there. Also, he's the only candidate who gives a fuck about the people as opposed to getting re-elected. And he's lived in a car, so he knows what it's like ON THE STREETS, SON. And it would be the hottest first lady ever.

Justin: Please stop with the analogies! Every post its something else, Billy Joel, Don Quixote, Jimmy Carter... and did you just compare Dylan to Obama? Serious? You have a very intelligent readership, you don't need to give us a comparative example of everything, OK? Thanks.

Whether he's safe or not, I'm still voting for him. If I'm going to vote for a representative in a representative democracy, they're going to represent what I want and think, damnit!
