If a pirate you were meant to be, trimming the sales and roaming the sea, you'd best mark January 22nd on your Official Babes 'n Barnacles calendar. The date sees massively multiplayer online swashbuckler sim, Pirates of the Burning Sea, ransacking your internet ports and plundering your PC's precious CPU cycles. If you've grown tired of the company of elves and orcs, perhaps living it out on the high seas -- be it through honest exploration or the shameless sinking of ships -- is more your thing.
Those who pre-order the game as of October 23rd will receive several bonus goodies, including a CD filled with "pirate-themed" music, "a blue and yellow parrot" and "a powerful weapon suited to their fighting style." The CD is an in-game item, as anachronistic as that may be. In addition, a pre-order nets you extra sailing time on the Burning Sea, with servers welcoming players 15 days prior to launch. Don't forget to pack some oranges.
Ah, a brilliant segment in an equally brilliant game (minus the stupid insult sword-fighting bit). Shame no one makes smart-funny adventure games anymore.
Well, Season 1 started off weak, but you could see the improvements as the games progressed. The writers became more familiar and the voice actors more comfortable. I have high hopes for Season 2. Now, if they can just get a better sound recording studio. The voices sounded like talking into the can, to use 1920's lingo (and possibly technology).
I really wish Lucas Arts would stop milking the crap out of Star Wars and release a new Monkey Island game.
I'd much rather it be in 2D aswell, for a game that came out 10 years ago MI3 has aged amazingly well; still looks amazing today. MI4 on the other hand.. Well, lets not go there.
Honestly, I don't want another Monkey Island game out of LucasArts. The creative staff there is terrible ... what's the last genuinely good game to come out of there? Jedi Academy (iffy, at that)?
Murry: "I am Murry! I am a demonic horse, the harvenger of your doom and the forces of hell will aplaud me as I stride across the gates of hell carrying your head on a pike!"
Guybrush: "Stride?"
Murry: "alright then roll! Roll across the gates of hell. Must you take the fun out of everything?"
Lucas Arts better release another one -- remember there is an unbreakable 5-game contract ;) Ah how I miss you enigmatic voodoo lady.
The Curse of Monkey Island is one of, if not the best game I ever played. I will never sell this game. Its music and quotes are magical and beautiful. The art and style are amazing. The humor is timeless and hilarious, and the puzzles and gameplay are so rewarding and rarely "cheap".
A+++++ this is a gem of a game. You are NOT a gamer if you have not played this, period.
I always wanted a Monkey Island 5 but in retrospect there is no way to improve upon Monkey Island 3, since the lackluster 4 proved that.
I just wish there was a hard mode so it had more replay value!
I dont think MI4 is as bad as people as think, but... Yeah, for me Monkey Island 3 is the golden standard of videogames in terms of art direction and script.
Blizzard dominates the MMO world by making a good MMO. Don't flatter yourself; Mac users, despite the recent popularity of the Mac computer, do not comprise that high of a percentage.
