Super Halo Brothers traverse World 1-1
However, the use of proper camera angles and the Mario sound effects lend itself to a thoughtful parody of the retro sidescroller. Of course, we're thinking the guy playing the protagonist plumber did not have as much fun during the making of this film.

That was the dumbest thing I've ever seen
rockintom @ Oct 5th 2007 6:13PM
That was... really pretty stupid. Other than sound effects, what did it have to do with Super Mario Brothers?
Chaotic (FDF - Fry) @ Oct 5th 2007 6:17PM
That was fairly pointless.
Arno @ Oct 5th 2007 6:18PM
Joystiq should boycott Gamevideos until they get that horrible player of theirs working with Opera.
Anonim @ Oct 5th 2007 7:22PM
I concur this statement.
Gamevideos player is teh shitte.
Dio @ Oct 5th 2007 9:42PM
Because it's so hard to use IE or Firefox =/
No, the only thing that should be boycotted is stupid videos like these. It would have been better if the players had rehearsed the camera angles and used more blocks. Otherwise, you can use ANY game with characters that jump, and add sound effects to make a "Super [insert game] Brothers traverse World 1-1" video.
Grant @ Oct 6th 2007 12:50PM
use IE?
whats wrong with you.
IE is such a memory hog and runs like a tank... except the tank is old, the armor is riddled with holes, and you occasionally have to get out and push it.
I personally use firefox for the plugins, but opera's a good browser too. Between Firefox, Opera, Safari, and IE that is pretty much 99.9% of all broswer usage, and theres no reason a commercial site shouldn't support ALL FOUR.
shivr @ Oct 6th 2007 2:54PM
I concur with the Opera statement. But even in all my web coding classes they tell me to focus on making it work for IE, and maybe firefox. Opera and Safari usually arent mentioned unless its web design in a mac lab, then suddenly it only has to be safari compatible.
Anyway, the point is, its hard/annoying that these embeds only work less than half the time in teh operas
Kazi @ Oct 5th 2007 6:18PM
I want my 2 minutes back.
Ross Miller @ Oct 5th 2007 6:26PM
The Joystiq research sector is working hard on developing a time-return policy. However, once we make the discovery, we have been told there are many interested parties who would like to license this technology out. Such as 3D Realms, for the two decades they will have spent making Duke Nukem Forever.
Kazi @ Oct 5th 2007 6:31PM
Simply LOL.
Andy @ Oct 5th 2007 6:19PM
Ummm right to left?
Chris @ Oct 5th 2007 6:26PM
Video sucks, but I think this is just a small example of why Halo 3 will total pwn Little Big Planet with user created content.
The first point being, everyone owns Halo 3, and no one will buy Little Big Planet other then journalists and PS3 early adopters.
Argue if you must, but you know it to be true. I'm not even a Halo fanboy.
Kazi @ Oct 5th 2007 6:29PM
You don't need to be a fanboy to say something absolutely idiotic. Forge isn't going to replace a game designed for custom content like Little Big Planet. LBP won't sell as much as Halo obviously, but it has potential to be one of the greats of this generation. Not saying it is or will be but the potential is there.
rTwelve @ Oct 5th 2007 6:42PM
Forge is going to end up exactly as awesome as StarEdit was for Starcraft.
!!!LURKER D 30!!!
LaughingTarget @ Oct 5th 2007 6:43PM
Forge is just Garry's Mod for Halo. Apart from Concerned: A Half-Life comic, it hasn't exactly done anything amazing. Forsee the same with Forge, silly diversion that will be forgotten in a few months.
Lemmiwinks @ Oct 5th 2007 7:35PM
Have you been hoarding up bunches of stupid for weeks just so you could conjure up the BS you just spouted?
Chris @ Oct 6th 2007 9:57AM
lol
that got the exact response I was hoping for. You guys are so predictable.
LBP will bomb. If Nintnedo had it, it would be a huge success, but in Sony's hands, where the majority of it's users are uninformed consumers who still think the only way to play GTA is on PS3, it will get swept aside and forgotten about.
I think it's a brilliant game. It's just not going to succeed. Kind of like Arrested Development or Undeclared.
Grant @ Oct 6th 2007 12:57PM
regardless of your comments on LBP, i don't think forge will make user created content such an explosion. After using it for like 2 weeks, i've found so many complications and issues that are really holding it back.
Bungie put alot of unnecessary restrictions in forge that have nothing to do with processing power or memory limitations.
Do i think forge is a great tool? sure.
Do i think it has a ton more potential that it can't use, most definitely.
if LBP gives users unrestricted access for players to make levels how they want, it could do exactly what they intended. but before sony looks for any success with this game, they need to get more people to buy PS3s.
Steve @ Oct 5th 2007 6:34PM
But...he's going left to right instead of right to left. Heresy!
Steve @ Oct 5th 2007 6:35PM
Er...reverse that. I'm directionally dyslexic.
Easo @ Oct 5th 2007 6:46PM
odd video.
Neebs @ Oct 5th 2007 6:53PM
That was fail.
Attila @ Oct 5th 2007 6:54PM
Lame!
Tin @ Oct 5th 2007 6:58PM
Really weak attempt
eldee @ Oct 5th 2007 7:07PM
Seriously, this is just getting stupid. You guys are just TRYING to find halo shit to post about.. the game is out, it sold gazillions, the fratboys love it, now fucking move on. The rest of us don't give a shit, and if it were any other game, we wouldn't be watching this garbage.
Ludwig Kietzmann @ Oct 5th 2007 8:29PM
And yet your disinterest wasn't strong enough to prevent you from clicking on the play button. Unlike Halo 3, much of Joystiq may be traversed in non-linear fashion.
eldee @ Oct 5th 2007 10:56PM
No, more like.. my faith in quality posts from Joystiq staff has not [yet] completely faded. My post here is evidence that I would like to see the trend of halo 3 skullfuckery diminished (regardless of the quality), and nothing more.
maylon @ Oct 5th 2007 7:08PM
God, leave the comedy to the pros.
LaughingTarget @ Oct 5th 2007 7:08PM
This is just the foretelling of what's to come. While I love the 360 to death, I find the bulk of the community to be half-wit retards. This is going to turn into the webcomic phenomenon wherein for every ten thousand pieces of garbage trying to emulate Penny Arcade you find one that puts PA into the shame box for actually being entertaining.
Just like the early days of the internet where all you had in terms of webcomics were User Friendly and Kevin and Kell, the tards of the world will fly in and ruin the medium forever, either making us spend hours searching for that one decent comic worth putting into your favorites menu or just tossing up your hands in frustration when all you can locate on a regular basis are hoardes of manga knockoff wannabies where half the characters look like clones with different hairstyles.
Now we're going to get zombie hoards of pre-pubescent chumps who still think obscenities and vile insults are comedic gold trying to be Roosterteeth and flooding YouTube and other video sites across the vast universe with their drek, completely drowning out all but the already established groups that are any good.
Thank you Forge, thank you for allowing obscenity yelling Xbox Live players put up poorly edited video featuring shoddy, squeaky voiced teens utilizing a grand total of 8 words, which in turn make up 32 letters if you disregard repeats like the letter F or S.
All I can be is thankful the bulk of us saner people will cast this aside like the drek Garry's Mod spawned and move on with our lives, until the next one pops up somewhere to remind us of the dark side of the internet.
Matt @ Oct 5th 2007 7:37PM
I like where your head is at kid!
shivr @ Oct 6th 2007 3:13PM
isnt the internet conceptually based on the idea that anyone can contribute and has an "equal voice" in content? What your discribing just seems like the cons of a system like this, but theres not really a way to have a solution for it beyond visiting aggregate sites (like joystiq), and having others filter huge loads of data for what they think is significant, then present it to you. Which is pretty much what we're used to with media anyway; publishers decide what books/articles are good for the masses, producers and studios what movies and TV, etc etc.
The interesting thing about the inernet is that this traditional system is sort of turned on its head, and suddenly its the direct consumer that has to filter his or her own content. And yeah, it can be pretty jarring/aggrivating how much shit there is produced by idiots, and how theres a lot more crap than gold to be found in the overwhelming amount of data being contributed(and the amount of people on the net is only growing), but in exchange you get the freedom to choose what you want to consume more directly, and creaters are not as controlled by overlord sponsors, publishers, producers, owners, etc. (through there still is an amount of this, depending on if you or some companey is hosting your content).
I guess what I'm saying is, get used to it, it's built into the system, and you can't change it unless you change the system itself.
Rexjamo @ Oct 5th 2007 7:25PM
Well I thought it was amusing but then I'm a half-wit retard like LaughingTarget!
OmegaRed @ Oct 5th 2007 7:59PM
It wasn't even in a 2 dimensional line, they kept using three dimensions........
Not to mention everything else that has already been said. Oh and I like the site and all, but seriously joystiq, why is this being posted??????
Yourself @ Oct 5th 2007 8:10PM
This should be on 360fanboy at best. You guys normally use discretion with what you put on the main page and it's usually quite good, but obviously no one liked this. It had about as much in common with 1-1 as Hitler did with Ghandi.
LaughingTarget @ Oct 5th 2007 8:19PM
Godwin's Law strikes again.
Markusdragon @ Oct 6th 2007 12:55AM
They're both vegetarians?
Diskoboy @ Oct 5th 2007 8:10PM
And I'M the one who got flamed the other day, for pointing out however to pronounce what's-his-asses name at nintendo was a completely pointless story?? Riiiiiight...
So am I gonna get flamed for saying this too was a complete waste of webspace? Because this time, I'm not the only one who seems to think so. And people - enough with the Super Mario Bros. themed movies - there ARE other video games out there, to parody besides SMB.
And good god, I'm on a 12mb/s line, and the movie is loading slower than a slug running through salt water. That literally took 12 minutes to dl the whole movie. 12 minuites of my life, I want back.
ComradeTrotskii @ Oct 5th 2007 8:58PM
Whenever I try to watch a Gametrailers video I have to get on the line to my ISP to tell them to try and fix the line.
They've actually added it to their list of 'common faults with your connection' in their FAQ
Spirit @ Oct 5th 2007 9:43PM
Please, people, understand.
Forge is a great map EDITING tool. EDIT-ing. Not MAK-ing. Forge is sweet for changing around spawns, adding weapons, and making a cool gametype, but you cannot make a new map with it.
If you could use unlimited supplies of stuff (moneys not the issue), it may be a lot cooler. You could box off levels, etc. Oh well - Forge is better something that nothing, people better not get a misconception of it though.
busydoingnothing @ Oct 5th 2007 10:25PM
This is quite possibly the worst thing I've ever seen on Joystiq. It's just Halo with Mario sound effects. EPIC FAIL.
driven2sin @ Oct 6th 2007 4:22AM
just use forge to have that master chef guy jump a shark and be done with it
