Today's trickiest warthog jump video: Halo: The Three Towers: Revisited
When given an opportunity to use three colons in series while maintaining grammatical correctness, we can't resist. Moving on, the other night's Skate trick video made us think of older -- but not yet retro -- uses of over-the-top Physics. When people ask why we are so excited about Forge and Gravity Hammers in Halo 3, we tell them it's because of our warthog jumping addiction.
How do you warthog jump, exactly? It's simple, all you need is a few dozen grenades and a good grasp of trajectories. After the break, 30 minutes of truly clever jeep-launching excitement -- seriously, we don't want to imagine how much time was wasted in the making of this film.

As the person who submitted this to Joystiq, I might as well point out some interesting points in this crazy video.
-The action doesn't really start until about 1:30; feel free to skip until then.
-Insane moment at 14:00
-...wow at 17:00
-Practically all of slynkyi's tricks starting at 19:45, but especially around 22 minutes in.
No it's not a mod, no I didn't make this video, and yes..it's..wow.
dylan @ Oct 5th 2007 1:37AM
I can't wait to see some serious halo 3 stuff, the camera/record feature in it is so insanely cool...
blooh (CDF - Ass Ring) @ Oct 5th 2007 1:41AM
boy they turned grav down super low
Arteen @ Oct 5th 2007 1:53AM
No. This is all 100% legit. No mods or anything. I used to do this stuff a lot a few years ago. None of my stuff was as impressive as some of this, but I've made it to the top of the three towers and elsewhere before using the same techniques. The reason the vehicles get launched so high is because there are so many grenades under them. This brought back some good memories!

Anybody having this happen to their copy of Halo 3?

that sucks....but if you go to Bungie's website they tell you that you can get a new disc if it is scratched/unreadable.

What's with constantly pistol whipping the air? I found it really annoying.
umm....hello??? @ Oct 5th 2007 1:59AM
that's their way of congratulating themselves....most of the videos on HighImpactHalo have the player doing that after performing a trick.
WTangoFoxtrot @ Oct 5th 2007 1:59AM
man that brings back memories !!
Tallican @ Oct 5th 2007 2:07AM
I just loved 15:00 - best part of the film!
The build up in music, the "higher" lyric just when the beam skyrockets past him, the moon with the smiley face and what a view. Perfect =)
Awesome work with all jumps!
Was a pleasure watching.

If a guy can find a girl who understands the beauty of blowing things up inside a game, that guy is going to die happy.
ben @ Oct 5th 2007 9:15PM
i must say, that is a very bad reason to dislike this video. i would understand if you disliked it because of the choice of songs, the tricks, or the length. not agree with you, but understand. to hate it for the pistol whipping? that's just dumb.
i'm not an xbox retard. i don't own an xbox, or a 360, or any console for that matter. the last game i bought was the original super smash brothers (USED). i just enjoyed the video for what it was. i do not believe that this video is perfect or anything, but it is a very good one.
also, i have no idea why you're criticizing them here. the makers of this video are on high impact halo. you know, that site with literally hundreds, if not thousands, of trick videos encompassing all of the games. i'm not endorsing them; i just feel their work should be respected and enjoyed. that is all.
ThornedVenom @ Oct 6th 2007 1:55AM
Dude, if you're going to reply to a comment, aim the button better: you missed Alan by 3 posts.
I wouldn't want to be on your team in a FPS deathmatch. ;P
jp @ Oct 5th 2007 3:04AM
pretty cool but a huge waste of time. please guys go find girlfriends or something, you know it isnt a bad thing to go outside. i cant imagine the amout of time if took to do this crap. heck i felt guilty just wasting the almost half hour watching it, besides that it gets pretty boring as well. if you guys arent gonna go outside at least order some other games online so they show up at your parents doorstep. you might have to go upstairs but trust me you'll be alright leaving the mancave.
ben @ Oct 5th 2007 3:23AM
People have different hobbies. Don't be a bastard to them just because their hobbies tend to be different and more outrageous than yours. They find enjoyment in exploiting these things, some of us find enjoyment in watching them do it, and that's just the way it is.
jovin6 @ Oct 5th 2007 6:26AM
JP: "Hur hur. I'm a complete moron who goes to gaming news websites so I can insult gamers."
Get out of here, jackass.
jp @ Oct 5th 2007 2:47PM
actually i'm a gamer myself but I play the game. what i can this is not having anything better to do with my life. this has NOTHING to do with the game, just a waste of time. more outragous? they watch some game character and a glorified car fly in the air from grenades, i think skydiving and bungy jumping hell the water skiing is more outragous than this crap. oh and when i do it I dont do some gay ass pistol whipping in the air, it made me think they were hitting the wrong button all the time, looked completely dumb. peace out dorks.
ben @ Oct 5th 2007 3:17PM
...I have no idea what point you were trying to make. Are you saying you (as in YOU) could bungy jump, water ski, or skydive in Halo? This video isn't meant to "having anything better to do with [your] life." Seriously, if you expect any gaming video to have an impact on your life, I suggest you look elsewhere for guidance. The pistol whipping is just a sign of congrats that they accomplished something. Jeez. Enjoy the video for what it is, not attacking every little nuance in it.
jp @ Oct 5th 2007 8:21PM
maybe if you would have read what you wrote you would understand. you said their hobbies are more outragous. and no i dont think i can bungie jump and all that other crap in halo 3. there is more to life to you xbots that halo. i meant things i do that are more outragous than sitting in my living room. i've beaten the campaign part of halo 3 i know what you can and cant do in it. i dont care what the pistol whipping this is for it is annoying, i dont appreciate the video for this fact and because i know it is made by some fat asses that smell bad because they are to addicted to this game that they dont shower or brush their teeth.
Jouten @ Oct 5th 2007 3:14AM
One of the things that keeps my playing time of FPS's down to a minimum are people who glitch the game and those that use the glitch to exploit the games. Not sure about other titles, but people who glitchin' were a real turn off when playing R6LV and CoD2/3 or even H2. Now people are already finding ways to glitch H3 and that just ruins the PvP aspect of the game. Just my 2 copper pieces.
ben @ Oct 5th 2007 3:50AM
...did you realize that this occurred only on the single player portion of the game? They couldn't even attempt this in multiplayer since the grenades on the ground don't blow up if there's an explosion nearby. These are just neat tricks. Plain and simple.
Psaakyrn @ Oct 5th 2007 4:53AM
Hmm... but if you got a bunch of people to throw all the grenades together, would it still work?
Lanturn of Ash @ Oct 5th 2007 10:38AM
No, you need dozens of grenades that go off at the exact same second to do this.
Ally @ Oct 5th 2007 2:03PM
Did you even watch the video?
its the first HALO
not Halo 3
sheesh.
waynski1457 @ Oct 5th 2007 3:25AM
man thats like a good fireworks show: you've seen it a thousand times before and you know whats coming, but you still sit there with the same childish wonder and amazment everytime you do watch it.
jopojelly @ Oct 5th 2007 3:32AM
^--?
anyway, at 22 min was awesome.
Frostmonkey @ Oct 5th 2007 3:40AM
hah i dont even like halo, and had never heard of this until now.
Holy shit though, this was so fucking cool
iMax @ Oct 9th 2007 1:18PM
Oh man! This is weird, I used to have Dire Straits in the background while I played Halo on my Mac. Haha.
horngreen @ Oct 5th 2007 8:21AM
Tighten up the editing and I will give it a view. It's not Superman The Movie with John Williams rousing score so a minute and a half opening credits are tiring. Lose Dire Straits completely as I think we all heard that enough back in the late 80s. If it's not a truly WOW monent leave it on the cutting room floor. I'll check it out again after work!
Roddie @ Oct 5th 2007 9:02AM
Some impressive tricks in this, but half an hour? There's only so many times you can watch the Warthog being fired up there, I figured they would be doing other things as well, but apparently not..
And yeah, to whoever mentioned it already, the endless pistol-whipping was infuriating.
Mabui @ Oct 5th 2007 9:33AM
Hrm, explosions making it possible for you to get into places you normally wouldn't be able too... Metriod morph ball says hello...!
MrBlank @ Oct 5th 2007 9:40AM

The original warthog vid! Much more entertaining than this long, dull thing you posted.
Pasha @ Oct 5th 2007 10:03AM
damn you joystiq! i am gonna waste 30 minute watching this at some point today :)
Ponch @ Oct 5th 2007 10:10AM
Props to these guys......this is amazing and its crazy how much time they put into it.....very well done
Kevin @ Oct 5th 2007 10:28AM
I'm totally going to make an animated picture of minute 20...
The Boo @ Oct 5th 2007 10:52AM
Supremely awesome! Can this be done in 3?
feelingsinister @ Oct 5th 2007 11:35AM
why do people find the need to use hardcore emo songs to play over their gaming videos?
dvnt @ Oct 5th 2007 12:03PM
Did the guy doing all this have pistol melee tourette's syndrome? Seriously annoying.
GoonieGooGoo @ Oct 5th 2007 12:55PM
Well....now that FORGE and the THEATER mode in HALO 3 are here.....this is MEH.
Word of the street(IDF-Digital Ruler). @ Oct 5th 2007 2:04PM
You know this is one of those things were you need Alcohol or Dopamine because other way this boring like Soccer.
Nice selection of songs but impressed poster is not impressed.
William Brand @ Oct 5th 2007 3:28PM
If Halo is boasting so much about their awesome reply system that lets you relive every moment, why is this whole video recorded from the perspective of a player mid-game? I'm confused :/
Will @ Oct 5th 2007 3:36PM
Nevermind, I'm dumb and barely watched the video. I thought it was more Halo 3 stuff. That explains the "Revisited" :P
Baked Pigeon @ Oct 5th 2007 3:32PM
Been part of High Impact Halo .org for a since 2004 (site launched) and these guys are all amazing.
I dont think people understand how difficult these tricks are.
And for all you haters saying no lives and what not, its just a hobby. We enjoy exploiting all the Halo engines to produce tricks and glitches.
HIH strongly is against cheating in multiplayer so let that part go.....
Well, ima go trick Halo 3 campaign, laters.
Klink258 @ Oct 28th 2007 11:26AM
waaaaaaitaminute... wasn't the HP bar on the left side in Halo 1?
