Puzzle Quest this Wednesday on XBLA
According to a press release IGN received from D3 Publisher, Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords will release on Xbox Live Arcade Oct. 10. Although no specifics were given on price, the game is expected to cost 1200 MS points ($15) based on previous leaked info.
Although the 1200 MS price point may be a little steep compared to what we're used to paying for an XBLA game, considering the game normally costs between $20 - $30 on various other platforms (DS, PSP, PC), it doesn't seem unreasonable -- and the HD is a nice perk. If you haven't played the acclaimed puzzle/RPG hybrid, or are looking forward to playing again on a bigger screen, it appears the wait is almost over.

At $10, it would be an instant buy for me.
At $15, I have to be realistic about the fact that Team Fortress 2 is coming out this week, so I'm not going to have time to invest in it this month anyway.

High Definition 2D sprites.... wow.
Dig @ Oct 6th 2007 8:27PM
As an owner of the DS version, I can confirm that it is both addicting and awesome. It was worth purchasing at $30 and it will be even more desirable at $15.

I didn't get it myself.
Too much luck for my tastes. I played a couple of games on the DS, and one time the computer got 4 4-in-a-rows in a row, and each time you get 4 in a row you get an extra turn. So basically, the computer got 5 turns in a row and killed me. This is supposed to be fun... how, exactly?
I'll take Puzzle Fighter over this anyday, even if half the players I fight are Akuma (which makes for very, very, very dull matches).

As you progress, luck becomes much less of a deciding factor in victory, moreso your skills and how you use them become important. But yes. Holy shit the combos they pull make gamers sad.

can't wait til pc and ps2 release next year, fucking addicted to this game (even just the pc demo!)
driven2sin @ Oct 6th 2007 8:39PM
about time.. this was an insanely addictive game on the DS even though it was full of unbalanced play.. they stuck gold with this and it couldn't of happened to a better dev group.. those guys are the truth
driven2sin @ Oct 6th 2007 8:47PM
the DS version was insanely addictive - even with all the unbalanced gaming, they stuck gold -
great dev team, support these guys, they are always losing publishers but make great games.
Xbox live battles will be intense

My inner nazi tells me to tell you that the phrase is "'struck' gold".

I snagged my PSP and DS copies for $15. Thank you KBToys website. God I love being a CAG.
bounchfx @ Oct 6th 2007 9:51PM
amazing game. Already have it for DS and would not hesitate to buy it again for the online play. Can't wait!
(best puzzle game ever besides lumines)
ouphie @ Oct 6th 2007 10:56PM
I actually flushed my DS copy of this game down the toilet. It now resides in the unholy lands from which it was conceived.
Geist @ Oct 7th 2007 12:12AM
...what?
pwkalt1 @ Oct 6th 2007 10:57PM
Ah, awesome. I've been waiting to get my hands on this ever since they announced it was coming to XBLA. Only a few more days now...
Geist @ Oct 7th 2007 12:14AM
Tell me that isn't the actual playing area. It looks so...cheap for some reason.
warioswoods @ Oct 7th 2007 2:06PM
That's what happens when you take a puzzle game, which is far better suited to a handheld, and throw it on the big screen - in high-def, what a bonus!
It is also far more suited to a touchscreen, by the way - you don't have to be a DS fan to see that this type of game gained momentun through flash games online, in which you click or drag the game pieces, and is tremendously awkward if you have to move a cursor around with a console controller.
Jojo @ Oct 7th 2007 12:23AM
I am all over this one!!!!
waynski1457 @ Oct 7th 2007 12:32AM
oh god yes!! insta-buy!
Blue_Falcon @ Oct 7th 2007 12:35AM
$15 for this game is a steal.
Amos @ Oct 7th 2007 1:40AM
All the haters need to play the game first. Puzzle Quest = Instant Win.
ouphie @ Oct 7th 2007 3:09PM
I plaid it for over a month. But I grew weary of watching the computer play by itself for two or three minutes on end. I had time to go get drinks while the computer was comboing, and I would rather play a game than watch it play itself.
Ryan P. @ Oct 7th 2007 2:10AM
I haven't played it yet, i heard its fun but frustrating, like the enemies get you too much. I'm waiting to see if this is corrected at all for the Wii version that's coming up in November and if you can use the Wii-mote to just point and click instead of using the joystick.
If its just a straight port of the DS version with no attempt at polishing the production values or A.I then i'll just get the DS version. I'd rather use a stylus then running a cursor over the grid with a joystick.

As long as it's 15 bucks with no hidden fees like Lumines, I won't have a problem.
baby sea tuna @ Oct 7th 2007 11:20AM
Done.
Babylonian @ Oct 7th 2007 6:40PM
I'm surprised that five dollars is making such an enormous difference for so many of you.
Delta @ Oct 8th 2007 10:00AM
People complaining about the computer pulling off insane combos need to make sure the computer doesn't have the chance to do it! You need to think ahead a turn or two.
Also, stun rocks your world.
