Ubisoft looking for Jam Sessions musicians
Ubisoft's quirky Jam Sessions is less a game and more an interactive toy in a vein similar to that of Nintendo's own Electroplankton, turning the Nintendo DS into a kind of minimalist guitar for virtual strumming. While its appeal may be decidedly niche, Ubisoft has now set about looking for people who are both skilled at creating music with the stylus as well as unafraid to Between now and October 23, touch screen virtuosos can upload their Jam Sessions videos, which must include both lyrics and vocals, to Ubisoft's special Jam Sessions contest page on YouTube where they will be judged by the internet masses. Winners will be announced on November 6, with two people representing the winning entry making the trip to New York City to perform live on MTV lookalike, Fuse TV. Ubisoft urges musicians to keep this last bit in mind, as they "don't want to be responsible for your band breaking up," though imagining a musical act throwing down over an argument over who gets to go on national television to play Jam Sessions live on camera is hilarious and certainly something we'd pay to see.

Congrats, you've won the Jam Sessions video contest!
Sweet, what do I get?
A lifetime supply of shame.

Well... I play guitar, and I have Jam Sessions... even if you dont make the chords, you still need to do the rhythm with the stylus, and need to have coordination to sing at the same time.

Awesome software. Silly promotion. At least it might increase awareness of the title.
Seriously... friggin' awesome software. The level of customization available is pretty staggering for a DS cart.

I'm insulted that you call Fuse an MTV lookalike! Fuse is soooooooooooo much better...even though they're both owned by the same company...haha

Fuse is NOW owned by the same company. Once upon a time, it was called Much Music. And frankly, I'm of the opinion it's no longer a lookalike. You know why? Fuse actually PLAYS music videos without screaming vacuuois retard babies yelling how much they love KYLIE!!!! And more importantly, they PLAY the videos. I mean, hell. Remember when M2 started? The promise was nothing but music videos. Nowadays? Just as loaded with garbage shows as Mtv.
Having said that, about this contest... I would enter except my problem is I use Jam Sessions to capture tones or small riffs which go through Goldwave distortions and finally end up in Orion Platinum. In fact, I'm currently trying to write a song which uses my MicroKorg, Trigger Finger, Jam Sessions, AND Electroplankton. So it would be rather difficult for me to enter this contest....

Since when was Kylie big on MTV? What did I miss? I love Kylie.

I actually just pulled this game out yesterday to play some Smiths. Contest might be fun, but about the vocal part... yeah, thats not going to win me any prizes.

I know videogames is all about making money, but this is just beyond everything else i have ever seen, come on playing this game is probably be as entertaining as playing a singing game pushing buttons... i must say that this is probably the worst idea ever... i feel sorry for the people that buy this game... Shame on companies that do this kind of stuff just to get people's money... Unbelievable...

This is entertaining, have you ever played it? It is as fun as any other rhythm/music game out there. It's not the same thing as the other games in it's genre (guitar hero/rock band). It let's you create simple compositions, replay them, and play with different guitar effects all while having an easy to use interface, which is why people say it's more of an instrument/toy.
