I agree with some of the above posters that only games will move this system. I have not owned a home console since the SNES (due to being a PC gamer). Now with a wife and kids on the way I can't afford to upgrade my PC every 6 months.

So I have decided to buy a home console this generation. Which one? Well I have resolved to wait for reviews of GTA 4 to see which one runs it more smoothly. Basing my purchase on one game might be lame, or put me in the 'casual' category, but I love the grand theft auto series and I am sure that game will keep my busy for months. Right now it sounds like the 360 will offer the best perfomrance, based on the reviews of other multi-platform titles.

Since I have an actual job, the price makes little or no difference to me. I suppose that I would buy the $399 PS3 simply because I don't have any Ps2 games to play on it. The only things putting me off of the 360 are the lack of hard drive in the core model and the fact that they stuck with DVD9 for the games.

So there you go, the perspective from a hypothetical Sony customer. There is way more riding on the success of landmark games like GTA4 and Metal Gear Solid 4 than most people realize, I think.
