Rumor: Halo 3 360 bundle in the wild
Just after the news that the 360 would be getting some bundles this holiday season, rumors of a Halo 3/360 bundle are starting to crop up. In some of the most concrete proof so far, a poster on elotrolado.net showed off what he claimed to be one of these bundles, purchased in the town of Mijas in Spain. It's a 20GB system with an HDMI port (but no cable). According to a depicted receipt, the purchase price was 350 euros, or approximately $540 in US dollars.
We have no clue if these pics are authentic (our sketchy sense is most definitely tingling), or if this bundle will be coming stateside. Surprising absolutely no one, Microsoft is staying mum on this for now. But with four 360 SKUs on the market, doesn't this seem like a bit of overkill?

Check the image up top against the link you posted. It's clearly a regular Xbox360 package with a sticker.

In my province Halo 3 is M for Mature 17+
That one is 16+
I don't know if that has any significance.
ssuk @ Oct 9th 2007 1:29PM
James, that's a PEGI logo for EUROPE. You realise where Spain is... Correct?
coalhalo @ Oct 9th 2007 3:18PM
It is not a fake:

These bundles are all over Europe.

Unless you're mentally retarded ... you'd realize the picture above DOES NOT MATCH ANY OF THE LINKS POSTED!

None of those pics match the one originally posted with this article. I'd have to say this is a good ol' print + glue deal.
Either way, I'm not buying Halo 3 :)

jaybird1905, the second link you posted is of the official bundle. The other two are likely store bundles (like how my Xbox 1 came with Midtown Madness 3 because Best Buy was having a special).
Erez @ Oct 9th 2007 10:51AM
Looks real enough for me. all of the Xbox 360 European bundles looks that way, with that big sticker in front.
NATO_Duke @ Oct 9th 2007 11:18AM
Cmon, its bs - they would include it with the Halo Special Edition 360 if they were gonna do it this early on.
Crrash @ Oct 9th 2007 12:34PM
dunno if you are european, but we do keep getting these kind of bundles. the last one i've seen with the exact same design, i think was forza2
Quote the Raven @ Oct 9th 2007 10:53AM
Why wouldn't they include the Halo 3 edition 360 in a Halo 3 limited edition bundle? I call SHENANIGANS!
Brent @ Oct 9th 2007 10:53AM
I'm calling shenanigans.

Eric @ Oct 9th 2007 10:55AM
Its true. I was at Best Buy on Sunday, and they had at least five of them, right as you came in the door, alongside Halo-themed controllers that came with little Master Chief figurines.
Zertoss @ Oct 9th 2007 10:57AM
Our shenanigans are cheeky and fun, but MS's shenanigans are cruel and tragic, which wouldn't make them shenanigans at all.
Akamaru @ Oct 9th 2007 11:05AM
I see what you did there
E.J. @ Oct 9th 2007 1:36PM
Someone's hankerin for a pistol whippin!
Hey Zertoss! What's the name of that restaurant you like with all the goofy shit on the walls and the mozzarella sticks?
Cellien @ Oct 9th 2007 11:03AM
It may be another SKU, but it's hardly as confusing as the PS3 SKU fiasco. Here you are just getting a bundled game like the old days.
SoulBlade @ Oct 9th 2007 11:15AM
i think the 360 and ps3 have equally confusing sku issues.
Cellien @ Oct 9th 2007 11:27AM
@Soulblade: Both could be confusing I suppose.. However, the 360 is obviously saying: Hey you can buy the Base model, the middle model, or the super deluxe model. Then they can throw these themed 360s at consumers like Nintendo has done in the past with little confusion.
PS3 is a different animal. I'm an avid game news follower and I can't even tell you which model you will find if you walk into a store. 20gig, 40gig, 60gig, 80gig. Why? Because supposedly they are all phased out except the 80 gig model, and soon to be 40 gig model. Right? Yet you can still buy some of the models..what? Confusing. Some play PS2 games, some don't.. The most expensive version only does some BC? Pricing ranges from $399 to $600 for SKUs that don't even show much of a difference. Confusing to the consumer.. hell confusing to anyone.
Jeff @ Oct 9th 2007 11:04AM
Fake or not, I'd buy it. 360 premium with 65 nm chips and falcon + halo 3? ahhh.
Quote the Raven @ Oct 9th 2007 11:06AM
Oh I'm wrong, they're already on eBay. Just look up the user Shannon Higgins...
Matt B @ Oct 9th 2007 11:07AM
It's baffling that they didn't use the H3 360 in the bundle.
Mack Swift @ Oct 9th 2007 11:08AM
Yeah, why wouldn't they bundle the 360 Halo Edition with the game (which is what they should have done in the beginning with that edition)?
jpn @ Oct 9th 2007 11:11AM
you'd think there'd be SOME kind of advance notice...a halo 3 bundle should be a big seller...
mfed3 @ Oct 9th 2007 11:11AM
thats def not a microsoft thing, look the box is an exact 360 prem with a sticker covering the front. you can even see the little green rings on the bottom.
http://www.ecetia.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/05/xbox360_box.jpg
Cellien @ Oct 9th 2007 11:42AM
It's very possible that could just be what MS did... Threw a sticker on the front and packaged in Halo 3 in the box.. maybe even in a paper CD envelope.
SoulBlade @ Oct 9th 2007 11:14AM
this would definitely be a smart move.
Quote the Raven @ Oct 9th 2007 11:17AM
Would have been smarter if they shrunk the hard drive from the original offering, then removed backward compatability! That would have been genius... wait a minute...
SoulBlade @ Oct 9th 2007 11:27AM
actually... the smartest thing they could have done was include a HD in every SKU so devs could code to a base platform that has the same hardware.

Microsoft Money Pinching Tactic #432 - More SKUs!

Costco has a Halo 3 bundle in-store. It comes with the Limited Edition game, a Halo-themed 360, themed headset and controller. $500 USD on their website.
NATO_Duke @ Oct 9th 2007 11:19AM
Yeah, thats Costco's bundle - not one straight outta MS.
James @ Oct 12th 2007 7:38PM
It may or may not be Costco exclusive, but I was just there today, and the box art was similar to the one in the picture (not the concentric-circle thing on all the other retail boxes). I'm not sure what that means, but it sounds like a "real" Halo edition box.
blooh (CDF - Ass Ring) @ Oct 9th 2007 11:19AM
just ask sony, it's not a new sku, it's just a bundle! lol
Konny @ Oct 9th 2007 11:37AM
Do these have the RRoD 90nm chips or the slight less RRoD prone Falcon chipset?
Jeff @ Oct 9th 2007 11:39AM
That's what I want to know.
If these are real, and come with the new chips: definite purchase not only for myself, but for my girlfriend's little brother who I forced to wait =P
Korova @ Oct 9th 2007 9:22PM
RRoD Lite
Shidarin @ Oct 9th 2007 11:40AM
It seriously looks like someone just pasted a picture of Halo 3 over their Premium console. And what is up with the price? Is that comparative to the normal price of a Premium over there?

It's REAL.... and in fact it's not a single store (GAME) exclusive, it's been seen (i've seen it myself) in various other stores. The pricetag is 384,95 Eur. and you can even see it in GAME's website. Visit game [dot] es. Click on "xbox360" located in the top menu, then the first option in the left menu (Consola) and click on "Comprar". once there, the bundle itself is the fourth from the top.
NOTE: the game is the "bundled copy" version... crappy disc print, and BIG "BUNDLE COPY" sign on the cover
Jeff @ Oct 9th 2007 11:47AM
Lameee. I'm big on boxes, cases, etc. That'd kill it for me.
embassy @ Oct 9th 2007 11:52AM
anyone who bought a friggin halo themed 360 was already gonna buy halo 3 the day it came out anyway...so why pack in the game when MS can milk those people by making them buy the game/360 seperately?
think about it people.
thats why this is a good idea...this bundle is for people on the fence...who like halo..but who dont want a damn brown and orange 360 to cement thier allegiance to the cheif.
Evan @ Oct 9th 2007 11:53AM
It looks like a piece of paper has been placed on a regular box...
- the folded edge of the top has the spiral pattern on it.
- the sides have stronger reflections, so the top appears to be a less glossy paper.
That's not to say the bundle isn't real, but unless Microsoft is slapping a giant sticker over their regular boxes, this photograph isn't real.
Andy @ Oct 9th 2007 11:59AM
Did any of you even look at the original thread? The complete unboxing was done. Many pics. This is not fake. Look at the original thread before you do your usual "FAKE!" BS
