Reasons for the delay are not given, but the prominent theories are licensing issues and PSN problems. Sony says this delay will give them more time to test the SingStar PSN content "to ensure that it is as rich, simple and accessible a SingStar experience as possible." Don't fret Euro SingStar faithful, by the time the PS3 version comes out you'll be able to purchase a cheaper PS3 model and play all your PS2 SingStars on it too ... oh wait, no you won't. Oh well, there's always the SingStar PS2 bundle.

And the answer to your question phranctoast is NO...
Delaystation 3 will never be old.
Jokes about BC will never be old.
Jokes about "playing b3yond" will never be old.
Jokes about sony and "next gen" will never be old.
But most importantly jokes about sony and "This is Living" will NEVER be old.
Its just that simple. Don't get mad at Joystiq. sony dug their own grave...
PS3:
"delay"station!!
No BC!! HOW WILL I PLAY BARBIE HORSE ADVENTURE!
RIIIIIIDGE RACEEEER
2487623958743 SKUs!?!
Wii:
WAGGLE!!
"Mini-game console"
"Mario...Link....Samus....is there anything else?"
"EVEN MY SNES HAD BETTER GRAPHIXXXS!"
360:
RRoD!
DISC SCRATCHING! WTFBBQ!
Lisenced HDD!LGHFKGJ!?!?
XBL IS TOO EXPENSIVE!!!
WHAT'S A HALO!!?
....those will never get old =(
For example, here's a search on RROD posts: http://www.joystiq.com/search/?q=RROD
... which returns post titles like: "Halo 3 goes gold, pray your Xbox doesn't brick"
So I think Joystiq has been pretty good at knocking everybody :)
-Online store similar to iTunes, browse by gerne, artist, album, or even dates. Purchase a song or a full album.
-Interfaces with the new EyeToy to record videos to upload your performance on SingstarNet where fellow users could vote and rank your performance.
-Expansion packs delivered via VLC.
Now considering the current state of PSN, is this delay really a suprise? I'd rather they deliver on those promises and uncrowd the holiday season a bit rather than ship an theme pack and call it a day.
IM CURSED!

I guess Sony's just decided to give up this generation.

lol i come to joystiq once in a while.. and this is what i always find... nice joystiq....
why don't you just put some big news (even thou everyone knows already) we hate the fucking ps3.. yeah that would feel good.. but wait the price drop is coming maybe you cheap ass can finally afford one..
what's gonna happen when the ps3 is the biggest fan base again you silly haters??? are you still gonna be twisting news like you always do..
come on joystiq.. is your site ran by a bunch of teenager haters?? try to be profesionnal for a little bit.. it would look good on you instead of making shit up... most likely is the psn.. who tha fuck told you this??

But now the developers are Sony. He doesn't know what to do. His brain could asplode!
Joystiq is a bunch of teenager haters? They hate teenagers? This is a VIDEOGAME blog dude, they talk about VIDEOGAMES.
With that being said. Did Joystiq come up with the theory that it is PSN and licensing issues? No, it was the article they linked to from the "Read" button.
So, here is this site, Joystiq.com, that sums up the news from another site, gamesindustry.biz, and you don't like the news so you attack Joystiq? How old and/or how much intelligence to you have? My guess would be 12 years and NOT F*CKING MUCH!!!!!
Get off the site, you lost any and all privileges of posting and even reading joystiq. I would recommend you finish, at the least, middle-school before you decide to drop out because you think you are oh-so-smart and now oh-so-much, you mindless retard.
So how is that for baselessly attacking someone. At least I had somewhat of a reason, whereas you had none whatsoever to attack a site that summarized the news from another site.

"Singstar's backing tracks differ from those of Konami's Karaoke Revolution series and most traditional karaoke systems. Rather than recording a backing track without vocals for the purpose, SingStar features unaltered audio tracks by the artists who recorded the song, complete with their original vocal."
They may allow you to up the volume of your own vocal to help out a bit, or perhaps even lower some particular EQ range of the original to lower vocals slightly? (I've seen different systems try this) - but the bottom line is that any time you use the original recordings, the vocal will be present. There simply isn't any way possible to filter out that one track from the rest of the recording, except in rarer cases where you still have access to the original, unmixed tapes (but even then the vocals will likely saturate the other tracks a bit).

I personally believe it was a stupid move. I use BC. Some people that dont use it think its a great move.
Sony offers the people that dont use it a cheaper alternative. Same as the 360 without its HDD, which limits the BC as well (not that much of a constant mention there now is there). So if you want BC in the 360 you buy a different version. Same goes with the ps3.

Joystiq is a blog site, it does not simply report the news. News reporters are held to a standard that requires they have legitimate sources before broadcasting. Joystiq intertwines opinions and news, resulting in what becomes on opinionated piece. As a result, they can be bias towards one or another console. The fact of the matter is that these topics bring hits to the site and since the other consoles have no news they need say something. Take a look back at the last six months, the Wii has had limited game news (outside of sales reports), the XBOX360 had the Bioshock and Halo blitz, and the PS3 had its run of price drops and game reviews. They have to talk about something and this seems to be the one thing that gets comments and viewers, which is why they wash, rinse, and repeat.
Im suprised they didnt figure out a way of taking a hit at the ps3 lack of BC when mentioning everyday shooter.
"Maybe something along the lines of Everyday shooter looks like those old school game we can no longer play with our new lack of BC ps3" oh shit. I better stop before im offered a job!
Just flash back to all the halo 3 topics involving RRoD lines.
It's no different than when the RROD was an everyday topic. Joystiq mentioned it in nearly every 360 related entry they made. I support microsoft, hell I make my living off of them, but it didn't upset me because, I have real world concerns and the failures of a multi-billion dollar company are not among them. Why this stuff upsets the Sony zealots so much is hilarious to me.
Fair enough, but I don't ever want to hear another word about the RRoD from you again.

In all seriousness
I can't recall the last time I mentioned the RROD, other than saying that if 1 in 3 360's didnt have this issue, Id probably own one. Go search my profile if you want!
While I lean closer towards the ps3, I tend to limit my hate.
"Indeed. While Microsoft has gone about going to fix the RRoD issue, Sony can't seem to get anything right."
Ya, like when Sony dropped the price of the PS3 so their flagship product is finally competitive. Tsk tsk tsk. That sure was horrible when, within a year of its release, Sony announced the PS3 would be appreciably cheaper before Christmas for everyone who wants to play *gasp* PS3 games on their PS3 console.
Ya, or how they decided to make new PS3 games instead of focusing on all new software for all the PS2 games I already beat and which look all shitty and Wii-like on my giant TV anyway. I hate when they do stuff like that.
I must remember to comment in every thread that involves Sony, to highlight these clear missteps in case people are thinking of buying a console that doesn't break, have BS proprietary accessories, a similarly lacking BC list on its low-end model, or a disc-devouring drive as loud as a helicopter. Yeesh.
Damn there are some bitter Sony haters on this site. Ban some of these Microsoft stock owning bitches Joystiq. They make me hate your blog.

I can guarentee you there will be several more titles delayed before Christmas too.

Basically, the lack of backwards-compatibility in the 20GB model isn't the problem, it's the fact that the 60GB version, which is backwards-compatible, is going to be phased out.

Exactly...
I don't care about user comments made about BC, but at joystiq should be bias enough and just drop it, there have been enough articles about BC in such a short amount of time, ok, we get it joystiq, you guys made a point, now drop it...or are you guys also having your 360s at MS's warehouse back for repair? or you run out of games for your Wii?....
(Sorry for being rude, but such actions are annoying more so when it comes from people who bash companies for using their costumers and yet you just go with the flow of PS3 bash to start flamewars....its getting boring)
