Final Fantasy retrospective: Part XI
Let's just skip past the Final Fantasy Legend games because those aren't really Final Fantasy games (although what really is?), they were just given the name to capitalize on the Final Fantasy brand in the west and are actually the Saga series. Next on the list is the endearing Crystal Chronicles. If the GameBoy Advance required multiplayer were done today using the Nintendo DS, it really wouldn't be such a big deal considering everyone and their mother has a DS that could link up wirelessly with the Wii. The smart man's modern Gauntlet, Crystal Chronicles really is a great multiplayer experience if you have the GBAs. Finally, the retrospective covers Kingdom Hearts, where the peanut butter of Final Fantasy meets the chocolate of Disney. Kingdom Hearts now stands alone with its own separate world and rules to continue down its own path as more additions to the series are guaranteed to come along.
Next week the Final Fantasy retrospective will cover all the remakes of the Roman numeral series we've seen over the years.

Final Fantasy for the Gamecube is a great game. The graphics are so good, better than Fina Fantasy XII graphics.
Too bad you need the multiplayer to truly enjoy this game to the full.

God I am so tired of this series....when will it end? How long can they milk this franchise?
Psaakyrn @ Oct 11th 2007 12:53AM
Except that, it's not really a franchise. Well, other than FF7 and FFX. (FFXII is a bit sketchy since it is related to FFTA, but only by names) (I don't count FFXIII since that's not out yet.)

Even though they were part of the SaGa series, they were very close to FF gameplay and frankly, all 3 were very good for different reasons. Considering the dearth of RPGs available in those days, these were a godsend.
Also, funcoland gave outrageous trade in values for these three games before Sunsoft re-released them. Enough to buy a brand new PS1 and Ogre Battle.

Maybe at some point they'll go back and re-release the original CC for Wii, and make it so that you don't need gameboys hooked in, so that a wider audience can enjoy it.
Kingdom Hearts is also favorite of mine, except I hate Goofy and Donald, and wished there was more Final Fantasy stuff in it, maybe even choosing your group, or starting the next one with a Disney styled protagonist.

Those Kingdom Hearts games were terrible, (X) button mash fests to the very end.

I used to really dislike reading the comments section here, but now I just add these simple words to any post I read: "In my opininion..."
Makes it seem like people aren't talking in absolutes anymore.
