Today's ads-used-to-be-this-good video: Iron Sword
Gametrailers user, BlackSad03, has posted an old ad from NES game, Iron Sword, and we wish today's ads were as exciting. We enjoy the clip on so many levels, like watching the gameplay and being sucked into the sale itself. Must... buy... Iron Sword. Our favorite take is to imagine the production of the commercial and which PA had to swing the tentacle into the room.The video is watermarked with "Gaming-Age.com," but we could only find an article there that references an equally great print ad for the game. So we send Gaming Age a nod, too.

The ad was cheesy but not in a good way.
Doom for the Jaguar now that is a great cheesy ad,hell I have it as the N°1 in my top 20 with Mad world,pole position and Segata Sanshiro.

I was actually going to post the Doom ad which persoanlly I think is the best but Pole position is an all time classic,also that I coulnd't find The Doom ad in a good resolution and the only one with good resolution includes the Cybermorph ad featuring a Kid throwing up.

I actually remember seeing that Alien Vs Predator commercial back in the day. Great commercial. I wanted it so badly because of it, but I wasn't about to get a Jaguar to play it. Oh wells...

...this was the 2nd game of a trilogy developed by RARE.....wayyyyy before Goldeneye007 (you have heard of that game, right?) My sister got the original Wizards&Warriors game, and I bought the 2nd one (this one). I will admit I don't EVER recall seeing the advertisement (thank goodness though--because I really don't see how NOW that these commercials would convince anyone to buy these games--and they were good games). heh I'm old.

That was the sequel to Wizards & Warriors!! I LOVED that game.. if you never heard of it, you're probably under 21 and only know baout the NES because of your older sibling (or Joystiq)...
Anyway.. yea.. I have to say that whiel video game commercials have been lackluster over the past decade, and while I'm a HUGE PS3 fan (yea yea, flame on..), that Halo 3 commercial with the haunting piano solo, huge battlefield, and the mine in Master Chief's hand at the end.. total quality.

I'm barely under 21 but I still have that game and a working NES. I remember when I first bought it from a yard sales and played it for a VERY long time. I ended up playing literally all day just to beat the damn thing. Never had enough money to get Iron Sword though...

That was so cheesy, even for the NES era.
Also, watch the screen towards the end of the commercial, whoever is playing jumps the character up like four times in a row to get to the ledge and it never happens. Wow, that game looks fun.

Ya know I think the original was better. Now some may disagree but I remember playing the hell out of Iron sword but now that I think about it, it sucked. At least in the original W&W they gave you a knife that you could throw. You had the sword in Iron sword but it barley does crap. Every thing hits you and its frustratingly cheesy. There was some cool stuff like toothy creepers (LOL) and other baddies but man it was just so hard and frustrating. Especially the cloud level. THat one sucked the most.

Was that Vin Diesel doing the off-screen commentary on the last two Jaguar commercials? Sounds dead on for the AvP ad.
