Zero Punctuation hates on Tabula Rasa

If you've been paying attention to the Escapist's Zero Punctuation reviews, then you've caught on that the whole point is to listen to some British guy hate on a game for a few minutes (the exception being the Psychonauts review where he just hates on people who didn't buy it). The latest review from "Yahtzee" has him hating on Tabula Rasa. As Americans (or, at least, Escapist editors) seem to love listening to British accents getting all uppity and nit-pick on things in absurdest Monty Python-esque statements, this Tabula Rasa review (found after the break) is another entertaining stroll of Yahtzee's breathless rage.

Don't care about the game one way or the other, but Zero Punctuation is always hilarious.

Click the image to go to the link, right below the vid you'll see info of him which reads: "Yahtzee is a British-born, currently Australian-based writer"
Why do some people feel oblige to try to correct Joystiq all the time?
Poisoned Al @ Oct 11th 2007 7:20PM
It's a pathetic attempt to try to look clever and contribute something, despite all the evidence that points to them being as thick as pig shit and knowing fuck all.

Word of the street(IDF-Digital Ruler). @ Oct 11th 2007 6:43PM
This guy rules hahaha.
About tabula rasa I would have to play it to tell but again the RPG/Shooter mix usually doesn't work
kinshadow @ Oct 11th 2007 6:44PM
I pretty sure he's Australian.
You ...errr... twit!
Philibob @ Oct 11th 2007 6:53PM
He's a brit that's living in Australia I think (I'm sure I read that somewhere...)
zwarrior @ Oct 11th 2007 6:57PM
Im pretty sure he's British but moved to Australia
Word of the street(IDF-Digital Ruler). @ Oct 11th 2007 7:30PM
Yes he is a brit living in Australia he says that in his Manhunt review.
ssuk @ Oct 12th 2007 9:16AM
It says it on every page there's a ZP movie on escapistmagazine.com.
"Yahtzee is a British-born, currently Australian-based writer and gamer with a sweet hat and a chip on his shoulder. When he isn't talking very fast into a headset mic he also designs freeware adventure games and does the occasional feature for Australia's Hyper Magazine. His personal site is www.fullyramblomatic.com."
Easo @ Oct 11th 2007 6:48PM
Its funny he uses the saying "if it aint broke dont fix it" when referring to Tabula Rasas innovation, but he tore halo 3 and bioshock a new ass hole for sticking to a formula that was well recieved in the past.
And yet, like seeing someone get kicked in the nuts for the 10 millionth time, its still funny. Good Job.
Rususeruru @ Oct 11th 2007 8:34PM
He does state in the BioShock review he tried being nice once (Psychonauts) and everyone complained about it.
Easo @ Oct 11th 2007 6:50PM
and if you click the read link in clearly states that the guy is british but currently living and writing in australia
Jeff @ Oct 11th 2007 7:22PM
Tabula Rasa ownz. Its good in an indescribable way; you just have to play it for yourselves. I've never played an MMO before, for all the obvious reasons, but I'm loving the beta.
Sir.sinho @ Oct 12th 2007 5:44AM
So... you say it`s the best MMO ever even though you've never played an MMO.
Clack @ Oct 11th 2007 7:24PM
He never fails to induce the lolz.

You mean 99% of edits. The pages are actually relevant, so long as the 1% fixes the edits before you get there.

I don't understand how this guy is funny. He speaks quickly and is an asshole who makes obscure references to pop culture. What are you people who love him thinking? "That's great, he closed with a joke about how he likes to get stabbed in the cock by somebody's salad fork. Haha, ha."
He's the butt baby of everything that is wrong with Dennis Miller and Dane Cook. Not entertaining at all.
hotnutz @ Oct 11th 2007 11:27PM
If someone has to explain why it's funny to you, then you will never find it funny. I like his honesty and the references and I find myself agreeing with him on all his reviews (HS included).
It's refreshing to see someone not give a damn about kickbacks from publishers and to be blunt about his opinion.
njnets311 @ Oct 11th 2007 11:51PM
I don't find Dane Cook funny at all.
People all have different senses of humour so lighten up and realise we all can't live up to your expectations and like the same things you do.
chenry @ Oct 11th 2007 11:44PM
Spot. On.
sicsided @ Oct 12th 2007 12:25AM
Ah, I love his reviews, full of laughter.
I like Tabula Rasa so far from the beta (its only $1, so yeah). I like the skills to get, don't feel like i ever have to grind because everything goes so smoothly, love taking back the bases, the instances are OK for right now, and at level 30 (haven't reached yet) you get your own NPC squad which will evolve, and at 40 your own mech to pilot, which i think is fucking awesome.
Can't wait for full version.

That guy is a genius.
