Blu-ray sales growing, PS3 getting interactivity update

Awsome! I'm loving the Bluray capabilities of the PS3. ;D now if they could reincarnate SACD, into Bluray CD or somthing? I want the Hi-Fi music goodness, lol.

I still don't get why they don't count the PS3 as a stand alone player, since it is standalone, unlike the 360's HD-DVD drive addon that can't operate by itself.

Am I the only one who doesn't care about Blu-ray's Java interactivity? As long as I can watch the movie and deleted scenes in thier 1080p glory I'm happy.

prob has to do with the ps3 system update by the end of the month to 2.0, that will help :)

Dear Vinny, your post was for stand alone players. This post is for disc sales.

I hope this is good. To be honest, after seeing an HD-DVD over Blu-Ray, I like the interactivity and interface of HD-DVD far better. Seems like on my Blu-Ray, the menu is a still image with all the features on one screen. But HD-DVD has transparent overlay menus while the movie is playing and picture and picture commentary and makings of. I really perfer HD-DVD as far as movies go.

This opinion has nothing to do with my opinion of PS3 vs 360. I like my PS3... but dang... Blu-Ray movies are kinda dull by comparison as far as features go.

I hate to burst your attempt at derailing this article. That article you linked to is dealing with stand alone player sales(which does not include PS3 sales). In terms of software which this artcle is discussing the ratio is 2:1 in blu-rays favor. So thanks for shopping here and please come again.

Plus the reason why HD-DVD thinks its "winning", is because they don't count PS3 as Blu-Ray players. The reason why this does matter is disc sales, where Blu-Ray trounces HD-DVD. In Europe HD-DVD fares even worse: Blu-Ray has 80% of the market here. Same thing in Japan. The US is the only place where HD-DVD still matters and even there it's on the losing side....

Yeah HD players are winning as long as you don't include the largest BD player, the PS3. I would also have the fastest car in the NHRA top fuel class as long as you don't include dragsters! lol

The title of the article itself is considered FUD. It should be "HD-DVD claims to be beating Blu Ray", not a matter of fact. Obviously, HD-DVD supporters don't count PS3 since HD-DVD has been shown to lose 2:1 to Blu Ray, so if you count PS3 they are losing in terms of hardware sales as well.

I really am getting tired of propaganda titles for articles. This one is pretty accurate in that Blu Ray sales is growing and PS3 is getting some more updates in that area. On Gametab.com, I see so much titles like "Is Sony really desperate?" or "HD DVD beating Blu Ray". If that isn't FUD, then I don't know what is.

@7: Like #9 already mentioned thats stand-alone players only and does NOT include the PS3 in those numbers at all. Thats the ONLY WAY HD-DUD can tell THEMSELVES they are winning... it makes them feel good and confuses the general public. If the PS3 were included in those numbers than blu-ray is still killing them even tho the HD market is so small and DVD is killing both. Until one throws in the towel(lookin at you DUD) niether one may ever succeed and it hurts everyone who want a hard-disc HD format (f**k downloads)...

who in there right mind would by a standalone blu ray player when the PS3 can best all of them, upscale, surf the web, keep track of friends that own a PS3, and can download trailers, and other content for almost the same PRICE! All in one package for a nice price. so people should stop bitchina moaning go buy a wii if you want lesser graphics and tacked on controls that are annoying . SONY better learn from LAIR and allow you to use the analog stick if you dont like the default controls.

Taking a quick look at your profiles I notice that despite Vinny posting that he wanted the PS3 to "go down in flames" he has posted 14 times on PS3Fanboy versus only 8 on Xbox360Fanboy. TheForceUnleased08 has only ever posted on PS3Fanboy and unsurprisingly all of his posts have been negative.

I must say I find your need to attack owners of other consoles rather disturbing. Why do you put so much effort into trying to cause arguments and upset people? Where you abused as children and now you’re taking out your repressed anger on PS3 owners?

Do you not thing that’s somewhat of a messed up view? We’re not “the enemy” just because we have different tastes in consoles. I don’t want an Xbox 360 as it doesn’t have any games that appeal to me but I understand that people have different tastes in games and can see why they might want an Xbox 360. This doesn’t cause me to break into fits of rage and I don’t feel the need to go to Xbox360 and abuse the site and readers so I really don’t see why you do.

As for your claims of “propaganda” in this article, the news that 300 on Blu-ray outsold the HD-DVD by a ratio of 2:1 is a fact based on sales figures. Do a Google search for “300 Blu-ray hd-dvd 2:1” and you’ll find many reputable sites reporting the news. Where’s the propaganda in reporting the news? Please explan.

hd dvd has a sub $250 hd dvd player coming out this holiday season so that could help more sales and hd dvd sales arent including desktop and laptop that have hd dvd [layer built in which would be a major boost in units moved! blu-ray has a clearer picture but hd dvd will win!

Aren't these trolls funny. Denial is such a strong emotion, and to come on this site to deny the FACT that blu-ray is wiping the floor with the competition is almost like denial in it's purest form.

I have a PS3 and a Xbox360 and I have always said that the HD cant even come close to blue-ray.... now i see I am right!
