awesome! some of these really are duhs! and some just make you somewhat rethink your tactics with some obvious stuff that you might have thought about...but now are confirmed.

i'm gonna do a custom game with a friend of mine that is only grenades so i can work on my grenade throwing abilities.

Sticky grenades are your best friend online. Another one is using the assault rifle and then melee when you're up close.

Lol the Support Engineer guy was very blunt...
How do you gain EXP the fastest?
Play with good players and let them carry you. :)

Hey Dj hopefully 2nite we'll get some games in. I have a good crew and practice one of the most important rules in being successful, COMMUNICATE!

Also I was thinking about what the first guy said, shoot at the body with the BR THEN the Head? I always aim for the head but I wonder if shooting at the body first takes off the same amount of damage as the head. (he was implying that head-shots are like a finishing move)

@TORO
It's easier to shoot at the body first, and then the head. BRs take off a third of their shields each burst, so there's not point in a headshot until their shields are down. If you've softened them up with a grenade, go ahead and aim straight for the head. Otherwise, bodyx3 + head is much easier than headx4. The pistol and the carbine work similarly to the battle rifle, but with different rates of fire and shield damage amount.

The sniper rifle is different because it takes all of their shields in one shot, so you can always aim straight for the head.

These are good tips, but they've forgotten a few.

When driving the warthog, get good at hitting the emergency break and doing a 180o to protect your gunner from an attacker.

Also, jumping. If you want to be a real SOB in the game, get good at hitting people in the head while you're jumping in the air at the same time. You're forcing them to move more axis points to aim at your own head while you're pelting them from above.

My best advice for team games? STICK WITH YOUR TEAM. Yes, that was mentioned, but it's so important. Also, learn where all the sticky grenades are on a map, start out your assault by launching a stick grenade at someone, then it will either kill them, weaken them, or freak them out enough where you can finish them off with your regular weapon.

Also, if you can get used to using a higher sensitivity, good on you, but I set mine lower. I have it at 2 which is a good middle point for sniping and using regular weapons in combat. It keeps you from having "the jerks" during an ambush.

Those are my tips.

Thanks Nalgae, I'm a pretty accurate head-shooter but the body is obviously easier :)

The second guy asked the questions seems... very unprofessional.
I mean, what the heck? He used "u".
I would never, ever, ever hire anyone who typed like that.

One thing I really don't like about Halo 3, is that armor is tied to various achievements and ranking.
Which is incredibly dumb.
"Hey, in Halo 3! You can look different now.. if you deserve it. If not.. TOO BAD!".
That kind of thing should be all unlocked from the beginning, or at least most of it.
ONLY Bungie would pull something like that.
The same pricks that won't let you search for custom games, when every game ever does let you.

and worse yet, they even restrict Armor to bungie employees only.. which is just plain rude.. AND they don't care.

@Otis:

there is only one armor type exclusive to bungie employees.

playing in a match with the recon armor type is like going into battle with a Halo god. i like that it is for them. it's better than just having someone speak to you and blabber on how they work for Bungie, blah blah blah.

with that armor on, you know you are playing with or against a maker of the game. very cool.

and honestly, why would you play a game that doesn't give you incentive to continue playing? that doesn't reward those for getting better?

or do you believe everything in life being handed to you?

the unlockable armor are trophies that prove you are getting better with the game.

with one exception- that whore of an armor set Hayabusa. i unlocked that first week and don't even wear it anymore. i kinda wish it was harder to get so that so many wouldn't be using it. kinda like the bungie exclusive armor...

...I said most armor should be available to you.. they can give OTHER incentives that isn't armor.. and they can still give SOME armor. But instead, they locked 99% of it away. Which is dumb. No other game does that. None.
Especially PC FPS's.
The unlockable armor are trophies? I thought that was what the frigging hell RANKING was for.

yeah, dude i still can't see why yer panties are in a bunch here. so i'll reiterate:

Armor is a cool reward for playing awesome and pulling off skill based tricks. and as Zack said most of the armor is incredibly easy to unlock. Not the Katana Armor tho.

Most people i come across that wear the Katana Armor are insanely good. why? because they played the game so much to earn it.

Rank is there to pit you against other players that are of the same skill level for the game type you are playing.

your Title, Major Lieutenant etc. is overall how good you are with Halo. it increases by how many games you play and how many game types you play (Ranked and unranked).

Title and Rank are NOT trophies. They are ways of deciphering your Skill and what kind of player you are up against.

sooo...i don't see any confusion here. they start you with a couple of armor sets and the more you play and pull off cool tricks and basically play the hell out of their game they will reward you. it's like an RPG. do you want MOST of the cool stuff right away? no of course not.

it sounds to me like you just want the game to play itself.

Rainbow 6 Vegas has a similar "unlock by accomplishment" system for armor, guns and equipment. I actually prefer the way R6 does it because its directly tied to your online performance, not whether you beat the game on normal, heroic or legendary and if u got certain skulls and such.

I like the close quarters body. It has a knife on the chest. I really have not found a head and shoulder pieces that I stick with for long though. I like how you have to unlock the armor, though some of it is hard. I have just a few pieces left and maybe then I will find something I can stick with.
