Joystiq Podcast 020 - Portal edition

Here we are again friends, with another megaton announcement in the middle of our podcast. Despite the EA/BioWare purchase, we still manage to spend the whole show talking about Portal, with some discussion of Phoenix Wright, Looney Toons: Duck Amuck and Dynasty Warriors Gundam thrown in for good measure.
Also, there is the humiliating settling of a certain musical bet, but you'll have to wait until the end of the show for that.

I own portal on PC (Orange Box) the superior platform.
I was just agreeing that it was a great game, not making a slight at how long it is.
Rubang B (NDF - Heart) @ Oct 13th 2007 3:21AM
In Shagittariush, "dull" means "like totally sweet."
dantad @ Oct 12th 2007 12:54PM
Awesome podcast guys! keep up the good work!
Awesome singing Justin =D
Ten Dolla Bill @ Oct 12th 2007 1:21PM
I almost choked when you started singing at the end man. Please... never do that again...
BPM (FDF - Hypno-Toad) @ Oct 12th 2007 1:40PM
I see what you did there.
Will @ Oct 12th 2007 1:42PM
I'm far from a Halo expert, but I find meleeing the head + shooting them a bit first = kill. Also, hitting them from behind.
The Duck Amuck thing made me look like an idiot at work, all laughing at my headphones. Thanks for that. Now I need this game... and to play it on the bus. When parents see a grown man on the bus laughing at Daffy Duck on a boner... oh man. I may be arrested. Do they have Internet in jail?
Zertoss @ Oct 12th 2007 1:43PM
Ah! There's my steed!
That was classic! I'll never be able to have sex again without hearing Daffy's voice.
Eliot @ Oct 12th 2007 2:19PM
I care about backwards compatibility:

Hey! I have the better PC version of that game.
Shadow Hog @ Oct 12th 2007 2:33PM
Needs more Weighted Companion Cube.
Shadowcast @ Oct 12th 2007 3:04PM
With awesome singing like that what ever you don't ever fire Justin McElroy.
J.Goodwin @ Oct 12th 2007 3:07PM
EA did make a console, kinda. They were the primary software supporter on the console developed by their founder (Trip Hawkins).
You may remember it, it was called the 3D0.
It was shit. It was overpriced. It was rejected by the market.
The guys who actually developed the hardware worked for Matsushita, and were hard at work on a successor console when they were all fired.
Mysteriously, almost all of those guys went to work for Microsoft.
They made the 360.
Talk about your lucky breaks.
Shagittarius @ Oct 12th 2007 3:21PM
Teh more J00 know!
Kevin @ Oct 12th 2007 3:43PM
This was a triumph
I'm making a note here:
HUGE SUCCESS!
Christopher Grant @ Oct 12th 2007 4:51PM
I've been listening to that song ALL DAY. So good....
Geist @ Oct 12th 2007 9:42PM
It's hard ooooverstate my
Satisfaction.
Kevin @ Oct 12th 2007 10:51PM
I know, I listened to it on repeat for a while. When I looked at the iTunes counter it was up to 9 and that was only yesterday.
I even beat the game a few more times just to hear the song. Possibly the best ending ever.
What I would love to see, now, is a mod that includes the portal gun in a HL2 multiplayer game.
T3H WICKERMAN (FDF) @ Oct 12th 2007 3:58PM
Good now i have something to listen to on my way to Athens tonight. You may need to make these longer for my road trip enjoyment. Hope you guys sing the full song so I can "rock it" with my windows down...;)
Donald @ Oct 12th 2007 4:45PM
I would've gladly traded the performance for a slice of delicious cake.
J.Goodwin @ Oct 12th 2007 6:27PM
Oh, yeah, I want more pop diva covers by Justin.
One every week. This is the price you pay to stay employed.
Rubang B (NDF - Heart) @ Oct 12th 2007 9:13PM
In this episode Ludwig reveals that he has no heart. :(
Also, Karaoke Revolution Party is the one on the XBox (and GC), and it has all the songs from Karaoke Revolution 1, 2, and 3 available as DLC.
Flyy (NDF) @ Oct 12th 2007 10:02PM
I want a brush with fame!
DaMan09 @ Oct 12th 2007 11:57PM
BEST. ENDING. TO. A. PODCAST. EVAR.
Cal @ Oct 13th 2007 2:21AM

Larry @ Oct 13th 2007 1:28PM
I think we have found a new show segment, Justin sings all your pop favorites.
EMaster @ Oct 13th 2007 10:47PM
Yes 8.99 on Tape, 9.99 on Cassette & 5.99 on LP from K-Tel! Get yours now! Awesome show guys. Justin, You got balls and my respect for not only following through but for keeping your word.
Blaggers @ Oct 15th 2007 1:18AM
Not only does Just McElroy play a mean guitar, he also has a singing voice so pure that it turns straight men gay, makes women's faces melt off and makes me harder than a diamond.
Well done sir, well done.
Godmil @ Oct 16th 2007 4:40AM
That ending was fantastic, I've never heard that song before, but I'm really starting to like it.
Justin FTW ;)
SoxFan13 @ Oct 16th 2007 11:11PM
1) I hope my Brush With Fame isn't painted with the same brush used for painting penises!
2) I didn't realize that Counting Crows did a cover of "Girlfriend" on VH1 Storytellers.
Korova @ Oct 17th 2007 8:06AM
Awesome, podKAAST!
I almost drove off the road when Justin and the McElroy Crooners got to the mike. You need to put a warning on there. I have not experienced a range of emotions that broad in a long time. Showed real love of the material! Good sport and a gentleman.
Did some blood spill between Ludwig and Justin there at some point? That makes me very nervous and I dont like it. But if there is going to be a fight, can you do it in a VG chosen by Chris or something and in videocast.
Stevey^ @ Oct 19th 2007 7:08AM
That was great, especially the song at the end. Please Justin, for the next episode, perform a song with Ludwig.
eYak @ Oct 26th 2007 6:06AM
Justin absolutely rocked that. Living up to that bet bumped this podcast up to favorite status for me.
