Microsoft gets tough on naughty gamer mottos

Even though your "Bros b4 hos" Gamer Motto may be both poignant and accurate, you may want to rethink it if you plan on playing on Xbox Live this weekend. Savings sultan CheapyD warns that his account was suspended for around 24 hours for his seemingly innocuous motto of "Konichiwa, bitches!" Another user on the site got a similar punishment for "called the šhit þoop," which is probably a bit more fair.

As Cheapy points out, a warning probably would have been sufficient, instead of automatically suspending a paying customer's account. There's still no word on whether or not Van Halen fans will get similar punishment for using their mottos to celebrate For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge.

Yeah... mine too >_< to be honest I've kind of been waiting for a ban from the moment I signed up. All of my usual nick-names were taken... so I went for something highly inappropriate but phonetically spelled. Haven't been banned yet... but if they're actively hunting people now, my number's probably up soon...

Good luck with that. Even the world "Kill" is blocked out. and replacing I and l with any of those weird symbols + a combo of them is also blocked. However K ill or something like that is not blocked. Stupid MS and stupid sensorship. I say just make XBL 18+ only, and get rid of all cesnsorship. We also wouldent have to deal with as many annoying kids this way

I find it rather far off the mark they've blocked "kill" and several of its variations but I have someone on my list with a full on fly-in-your-face:

I'll keep with my "Hip to the jive" thanks all the same. Not insightful or funny but then it doesn't try to be. A bit like some of the people on my friends list come to that.

Yay! Well, I'm torn. I'd prefer not to hear profanity, but banning for a first offense is rather harsh. On another not, Sony is changing their terms of service. It sounds like they may get more features into the online service, like game stats and pictures. Possibly home? It discussed uploading and stream content not being vulgar. Than again it could all be for singstar, lol. Its supposed to go into effect October 31.
