Today's most edible DIY video: making a Wii cake
"Everything inside is eatable, I mean edible, I mean you can eat everything." - Gene Wilder, Willy Wonka & The Chocolate FactoryDesigner cake maker Brian Walak put his talents to good use (not to marginalize his other, impressive work, but we can't exactly cover non-gaming culinary art) and made a cake modeled after a Wii, complete with remote (but no sensor bar in sight).
Wired's Chris Kohler has posted some advice from Walak for budding chefs who want to make their own Wii cake. Walak's creation got him on the Martha Stewart show to discuss the game console and his pastry. Video embedded after the break.

I'm dreaming of a 2-Gamecube-icinged-together cake.
phattie @ Oct 12th 2007 1:40AM
You're gonna need WiiFit after eating that.. the icing is probably full of trans fats to stabilise it.. no thanks.
vidGuy @ Oct 12th 2007 1:44AM
The PS3 may have BluRay, but the Wii has trans fats and I love it!

You probably already have plenty clogging up your arteries, eh fatso?

Hey it's like a real Wii, fun and tasteful for the first week then throw it in the fridge and forget about it. JK

You threw your Wii into the fridge? Gee, you could have at least left it sitting next to your TV. =P

A simple piece of black licorice could pass for a sensor bar...

Do not listen to him. Your efforts in the enrichment program will be rewarded with --bzzt-- cake.

Cake, and brief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the testing.
Yeh, cake is now inextricably linked my mind with small cubic crates with hearts drawn on them.

I love you, Weighted Companion Cube...

Can you imagine the disappointment on that child's face?
Mom: Now, I know how much you wanted a Wii so...
Son: YOU GOT ME A WII?!? I LOVE YOU
Mom: Close! I got my neighbor Brian to BAKE you a cake that looks just like a Wii!

I'm getting REAL sick of game cakes. This passes for game "culture" these days? After Martha Stewart is shown doing it, the bloody meme is OVER. Like, taken-out-behind-the-shed-and-put-down over.

Wow, a Wii cake. Though, obviously a Wii, it's still lacking craftsmanship and structure. Looks cute, but it looks bumpy and flimsy...reminds me of the wii graphics. Honestly...Wii graphic sucks, but my little nieces and nephew don't care they're just kids who enjoy pretending to do stuff. But I tell them not to play with the Wii too much and to go outside to play real tennis and sports or they'll end up like this guy making a Wii cake and mesmerizing about it. Enjoy the cake everyone, holla.

WOW this opinion isn't worth anything , especially from someone calling themself 2cents. Just like every other 2 cents you see on the ground.... Worthless and stepped on!

Wii cake, nice...looks good, almost better than it's 480p 1934 Nintendo 64 graphics. Is Nintendo still having problem with supply? If so, how hard is it to glue to together a few plastic pieces, insert leftover chips from the GameCube and bada-bing-bada-boom, finished, right? If supply is well taken care of then, please don't mind me. I just hate when people talk nonsense about such a cute system, you know...with its bowling, tennis, and zelda game thing-thing...yeah...slash...slash...there you go little Timmy...yeah, you're doing it champ...the Wii cute, isn't
