Haloid creator mashes up Final Fantasy and Dead or Alive
71
After pitting Master Chief and Samus against each other, animator Monty Oum now renders the results of the Final Fantasy universe intersecting with Tomonobu Itagaki's fighting franchise, Dead or Alive. If you take issue with saucer-eyed women pummeling each other in ways that defy logic and gravity, avert your eyes and hide your children (advent or otherwise) before the interminable Matrix music kicks in.
Why are Kasumi and Yuna so upset with one another? Why are bullets so utterly useless? Why hasn't someone made Super Smash Sisters yet? Clearly, we're asking way too many questions. Just enjoy the mad choreography and know that if it's anything like Haloid, love can eventually bloom on the battlefield.
[Thanks, Kamizar]

Action was taken up a notch. nicely done! Not a big fan of either franchise, but the animation quality was excellent.

The DOA girls are way too endowed for such acrobatics, they would rupture an implant.
On topic, the choreography is top notch. I can't wait to see the rest.

as spectacular as it is, i'm 90% sure the author used the Final Fantasy X renders from the actual game, since i've seen some of them on other sites that people managed to get a hold of the actual files through some leak or something. It's spectacular either way i'm just saying those are probably the original versions, whether that makes it less incredible or more authentic is up to you, it's just my two cents.

And the DOA girls look like they were ripped directly from the Dreamcast/PS2 games.
Still well animated, though.

Ah, realism. That was thrown out the window when a fight broke out here. Ninjas don't fight, they kill.

So...ummmm...yea..Can we get this guy working on feature length movies? He seems to be doing a better job than Uwe Boll and whoever made that Dead or Alive movie.

No, DOA isn't a Uwe Boll movie.
What exactly was the point of your post anyway?

My point was JUST to make fun of Uwe Boll. Since he just sent out a lame video explaining how to pronounce his name in which he stated that if "you are going to criticize me at least get my name right."

There would be 6 beheaded girls at the end of the video if Sepheroth came in, disgusted by the pussy cat fight, and ended them all quickly with his huge, long...ugh sword.

Am I the only person who just isn't entertained by this guy's videos? I mean the animation is cool I guess, but it's all just repetitive after the first minute. The only draw that he really has with them is the whole mash-up thing, and even then his pacing is terrible so it just makes them boring for the majority of the video.

I feel the same way. Crossover battles aren't really my thing, and I don't really like the characters either. But the animations are cool and the guy did a good job.
This is just another one of those "WOW WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF CHARACTERS FROM POPULAR GAME 1 WOULD FIGHT POPULAR GAME 2"
I just wish people would enjoy their universes =_=

Oh I don't care about any of the characters. I just laugh through the whole thing at the ridiculous choreography. I mean, where the hell are they? They can punch gigantic chunks of stone at each other, and take bullets to the face. It's ridiculous.

I feel the same way. It comes down to why they are even fighting in the first place. It is clear they're all immortals. Hell, I was waiting for Connor MacLeod to show up and lop off a head and watch a nice Quickening or something. Instead, nothing. It just drags on and on and when you think it is done (ie, watching the little indicator on the bottom head toward the end) and a resolution is forthcoming ... whammo, to be continued, you just watched a few minutes of this stuff to find out you have to watch even more just to get some resolution as to what the point of the battle is. Well, I don't think I have to. There is only one way a three-on-three battle can go when everyone has God-mode turned on ... they kiss and make up.
This is pretty much just like the Final Fantasy VII movie. Yes, it is nice to look at and the technical achievement is remarkable, but the entirety of it is empty.

Obviously you never heard of a test animation reel.
Fuck, one of my friends got hired by Pixar, all he did was show a 30 second clip of a bug in a blank white room scratching his ass. No joke.

This guy put way too much effort into this for a test animation reel. If no one bothered to hire him after the first one given its popularity, a second one isn't exactly going to change anything. If this guy is already hired on doing this kind of work, why put this junk out?

Can't decide we don't like it if we don't watch it. The argument works for a second time though. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. That is why the previous sentence/cliche exists.

It's not a question of why they're fighting/this video exists/he does these things, it's a question of why not. I've done stranger things. I'm doing a Firefly fan episode with a CG model I made myself. People do odd things in their free time. I'm sure you do too.
