That game looks pretty sweet I'll probably pick it up this weekend.

Well, I've actually played Spyro, and it's a bit of a mixed bag.

On one hand, it's gotta be my favourite platformer. As the article says, the graphics, music and combat are all *superb*. Couldn't fault any of it.

But then you could imagine my disappointment when I got around 4 or 5 hours into the game... and finished off the end boss rather easily. I was kind of staring at the end credits asking myself, "is that it?" It's almost like the development team put so much effort into the style and gameplay that they didn't actually bother to create the content to play through.

Sure, I unlocked hard difficulty, and could go through and play the exact same game again, or go for all the powerups I missed.. but honestly, none of that is really fun when the story itself is over so quickly and I've got other games to finish. Like Zelda, and Luminous Arc. :P

I'd feel pretty ripped off if they were asking full price for the game, but at $15, what the heck. It may be short, but if you want a fun and good looking platformer, you can't really go past this one.

Funny, it looks like a decent GBA game...but the DS game is really, really bad. I mean, it's awful. If you bought it, return it immediately.

4-5 hours for a handheld action game is excellent. That's more than I got out of TMNT/Double Dragon/AstroBoy/Gunstar Heroes. Action games aren't meant for marathon game sessions like RPGs. This game is perfect for fun burst game sessions.

Pie Pants,
I also picked up this game and have to disagree with you on one point 4-5 hours is perfect for an action game on a handheld system. It's more than I got out of TMNT/AstroBoy/GunstarHeroes/DoubleDragon/MegaMan. They all seem to float around the 4-6 hour mark. Action games aren't meant for marathon game sessions like RPGs. Especially on a handheld it should be burst gameplay. Also, I noticed that on the different difficulties of this game the enemies behaved greatly different. Very refreshing to see that a hard mode isn't just a cheesy "give everything a ton of HP". So, I guess I disagree there as well. With the different game modes the enemies react totally different and that's awesome.

He is right it took me about 3 hours to beat normal and about 7 to beat hard. After beating hard I found a cool secret that made running around destroying the enemies a LOT of fun even if it had nothing to do with the story. Whatever the price, I would recommend this game to anyone if you like action games.

Haha yeah, the DS one looks absolutely horrible. I'll probably pick up the PS2 version some day (just because I own all the other PS/PS2 ones), and perhaps this GBA one as well. I like a good 2d action platformer, and beat'em ups! It's win/win.

To me this game series is DEAD, just like Crash Bandicoot.
AMAZE is trying to turn it into some sort of Legend of Zelda wannabe with Button mashing combat shit,
also its full of darkness and melodramatic bullshit.
Spyro games were never supposed to be dark and dramatic.
they were supposed to be fun lighthearted and colorful
and Spyro had simple gameplay, charge Flame breath, Glide and run thats it.
i fucking hate these shitty 3rd party developers.
Insomniac did make the best spyro games and it seems reinforced since i was told non insomniac games have been far worse than the non Naughty Dog Crash games.

Spyro and Crash were better as PS exclusives being developed by their original creators....

Imagine if Mario was screwed up like that....
also as for Zelda well.... Nintendo has been looping that shit too much.
