Is there anything resembling a story line in this game? Like is there a point to why you're doing all of this crossbow training or whatever? Or is it literally just bouncing you from scenario to scenario?

A bunch of losers buy a game designed for non-gamers and it comes with a plastic frame that will make all your friends laugh at you.

Hows that for a story line?

I said it once, and I'll say it again, what a fucking waste. Perhaps my rage would settle sooner if the Zapper was an extra, functional attachment rather than a shell, what really pisses me off is the pack in game. Link’s Crossbow Training, what the fuck? It’s Zelda, man. FUCKING Zelda. Why not a Bullet Bill shooter? Or perhaps a medieval themed Mii game. They would be more suitable. Zelda games are masterpieces, and have gained my respect and the respect of nearly all who play them. To be sold out like this just makes me sick. Even if the developer’s were dead set on making it a Zelda title, at least call it Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess: Link’s Crossbow Training so that you can call it a spin-off. But no, it’s just Legend of Zelda: Link’s Crossbow Training. Henceforth, this title will be known as an official Zelda title and will soil the series. I am a huge Zelda fan, and have played and beaten every single game in the series at least twice. I even own the CDI games and have beaten them too (the only thing that made me finish was that the cut scenes were funny as hell), but I will not defile my collection with the black mark known as Link’s Crossbow Training.

On a lighter note, are there any original areas in this game? Or are they all mods using Twilight Princess maps?

I don't think anyone's going to confuse this with a main Zelda game.

Yeah, but I'm hoping to hell that Miyamoto did not mean this when he said that Twilight Princess would be the last traditional Zelda game. I fear for the future of my beloved adventure series.

"Henceforth, this title will be known as an official Zelda title and will soil the series."

So the CDI versions didn't do this??

I do see your point though. Tack the Zelda name on it and watch it sell. Does that mean every game w/ Mario in the title is an official Mario game? That means there's a crap ton of those.. like Mario teaches typing baby!

Well, he meant last traditional in the sense of the continuity of Zelda, Zelda II (at least the overworld portions) and a Link to the Past had similarity, OoT, Majora's Mask, the Windwaker, and Twilight Princess were in that same continuity

Zelda Wii will go elsewhere

I'll agree with Wing here. I just don't like the zapper, even though it looks like a good game for $20

Went from a non-buy for me to a maybe. Still, I'd just get it for the game and toss the plastic shell.

OK, so it will get me flamed, but my though on this title was:

Link's Crossbow Training - 5 million units sold.
Crossbow Training - would be 50,000 units sold.

I kinda think thats sad. (You know it wouldn't sell without a typical Nintendo character tacked on.)

I agree. Call Halo 3 anything w/o Halo in it, and it certainly wouldn't have sold as much as it did either.

Wait, I'm pretty sure you can't get the game only. You have to get the zapper to get the game which would make sense since the whole point of the game is to get people to buy the Zapper.

oh shit, for some reason I thought you meant the game and the zapper seperately (don't know why I did that). My bad.

But anyways, that goes for any game. I mean if Square made a dragon quest game with out dragon quest in the title it wouldn't sell as well. If Konami made a MGS game without Metal Gear in the title or Snake as the main character it won't sell well either.

Vegeta, you’re missing my point here. A Metal Gear Solid game would not be one without its main characters. This is a crossbow game - with Link. It’s not a Zelda storyline, it’s a crossbow game they added Link to in order to drive purchases. That’s a bit different that your analogies.

There was a Metal Gear Solid card game with Snake in it. Was Snake necessary there, or did they just tack on some Metal Gear to a card fighter? Now they're making a Halo RTS... so... yeah.

The ONLY way I will buy this is if I somehow decide the zapper is better than just holding the damn wiimote and nunchuck. Which I doubt. And since zapper prevents the #1 bonus of the Wii (gaming while still hugging your gal), zapper = fail.

I have mixed feelings on the Zapper. Funny thing is, I thought up nearly the same exact design in my head while playing Call of Duty 3 (maybe I should switch my career). I thought, "Why don't they make a gun-shaped accessory to add even more immersion to the game?" The novelty is certainly there; who doesn't like playing with toy guns?

My main concern is fatigue. I'm curious to see how comfortable it is to play with the Zapper versus the two controllers separate. In terms of comfort, from most to least, in my opinion, is: Wiimote/Nunchuck combo, 360/Playstation pad, mouse and keyboard. With the two separate, you can pretty much sit on the couch with your hands apart, one on each thigh, and play without a problem. Gamepads are comfortable, but they force your hands close together in an uncomfortable position. Mouse and keyboard is best for accuracy and multi-functionality (multiple keys for multiple actions), but my left arm especially becomes cramped and fatigued after an hour of gaming.

The second concern is adoptability. One look into Nintendo's past reveals countless failed attempts at accessories, especially in the gun department. This time around, Nintendo not only has a very acceptable price ($20 for a brief game and accessory is nothing these days), but the near-lack of proprietary functionality, meaning, games can function with or without the Zapper (I believe). The same cannot be said for the NES Zapper, Super Scope Six, etc.

I'm sure it's been said many times already at Joystiq, but I miss the old design from E3 a year or so back where the zapper looked like a pistol and not a tommy gun.

If they kept that design this would be a definite purchase. Now it's just a 'maybe' for the pack-in game.
