Eager to recreate the success of their Xbox 360 Intercooler – and complement their similarly useless PlayStation 3 Intercooler – Nyko has created the Intercooler for Wii. Y'know, to keep that space heater cool?
We kid because we care. Here at Joystiq HQ we've actually entertained dozens of letters from worried Wii owners asking us – undisputed experts in consumer electronic thermodynamics – whether or not they should store their Wii in a small, unventilated space right above an old, and terribly efficient, steam radiator. Also, they live in a tropical region. Oh, and there's a hairdryer blowing on it at all times. We don't understand that part either.
Now, instead of cautioning against such an impractical setup, we can recommend it ... with gusto! The Intercooler for Wii (which clips easily onto the back by the way) keeps that Wii cool without trading in the console's sleek looks (see, it's white). And, at $15 (that's 1500 Wii points), this Intercooler matches the budget conscious appeal of its console.

haha, that's right. In your rush to deliver a quality zinger you misspelled a key word and ruined the moment. WAY TO GO JERK FACE!

More because, well, most of these accessories have no rational purpose. The Wii doesn't exactly pump out heat. I'd have more luck putting an intercooler on a cellphone in terms of lowering latent heat.

I ordered two, so then I can stack them and make absolutely sure my Wii will never overheat in standby mode.

Call a fucking Toys R Us and ask THEM, for Christ sake. You've asked the same question, OFF TOPIC, three times now.

You'd be surprised how much heat is generated by printin money.

Is it alright with everybody else if we just start measuring currency in Wii points, as used in the above article? For example:
"Dude, I just got a bacon ultimate cheeseburger at Wendy's!"
"Dude! That's only like, 100 wii points!"
*high-five*
Oh, and Wendy's is awesome.

They have to wear those corny Wendy's red-hair wigs when doing that commercial, it would be hilarious.

Not only is this unnecessary, it's extra noise and saps power from the system. I mean, yeah, you might want one for your 360 as they can double up as paint strippers, but a Wii? A system that doesn't even get hot even with it's dinky, passive heat sink? Please.

Actually, the Wii does get hot *because* of it's dinky heat sink, and the WiFi unit has no ventilation. Plus, the system runs at full thermal load while turned off, which is completely idiotic.
People just pretend the Wii doesn't overheat or have disc read errors, because it's not consistent with Nintendo's previous efforts regarding build quality.
As to whether people need the Intercooler... HAHA! Yeah, putting one fan in the turbulent wake of another fan is going to be REAL effective. PC vendors (like Thermaltake) tried making CPU coolers like that, and they were total failures.

It would just be easier to put a small fan next to your Wii.

I'd like to mod this fan so it blows the dust off the top of my Wii.

Wrong answer genius. Nyko has acknowledged the problem and will replace any 360 damaged by the first revision of this product. You will notice on the new ones, there is not an on/off switch. The problem was caused by this device over drawing power or something because of the 360 having an external power supply.
But way to demonstrate your bias again while being ignorant of the facts douche.

I must say it gave me quite a hearty chuckle to see the Wii Points reference for physical property. Kudos.

I bought a completely unnecessary cooler for my Wii, just because it doubled as a lit-up stand. It was the Gamestop blue glowing light stand thing. It looks awesome, was $10, and I never have had to turn on the fan.

15 dollars is not much, but it kills the whole minimalist aspect of the Wii.

You read forums, right? You know about the white pixel problem?
There was some some accurate (SHOCK!) information about the problem on Wikipedia, but every trace of reliability issues with the Wii has since been stripped, except for the far less significant firmware update issue.
If the 360 wasn't so self-abusive, the Wii would be taking more flak than it is. The Gamecube was far better.
