Well, I haven't bought video games in over 10 years, and then it was mostly my grandma who bought them for me. I am certainly proof that Nintendo knew what they were doing when they hoped to recapture lapsed gamers. But yeah: I have eight games now. I am getting four to five more this year (this is not counting VC) so if that many games I want come out next year, the answer is about thirteen UNLUCKY games per year.

About 9 per year, rarely more, almost never less

9 this year, too. Secret Rings, Super Paper Mario, Kirby Squeak Squad, Pokemon Pearl, Strikers Charged, MP3, Phantom Hourglass, Galaxy, and either NiGHTS 2 (if it actually comes out this year, they still don't know US date) or Radiant Dawn

I'll say on average that I buy between 8-12 games a year on either the PC, PS2, or (now) the Wii. However, I've bought 5 Wii games since I bought it in May...
Metroid
Mario Party
Tiger Woods 08
Monkey Ball (which I have since sold back)
Wario Ware
Wii Sports would be six I guess, but I don't think pack ins count.....
in that same time I've bought 2 PC games (Company of Heroes and The Orange Box) and 1 PS2 game (NCAA Football 08). I guess my point is that while I love the Wii, I'm not married to it as my only gaming platform. I'll be intested to see how my buying habbits continue to change as the number of quality Wii titles increase.

I bought 37 for the Wii and will buy about 5 more. So I would say around 40 every year.

This year has really been a sort of odd ball year for me since the pickin's were so good on used PS2 and GC games, so I've bought a LOT of games this year.

Since last October, I've bought:
Zelda Twilight Princess, Sonic & The Secret Rings, Wii Play, Super Paper Mario, Bust-A-Move, Kororinpa, Super Swing Golf,
Okami, God Hand, Raiden III, FF XII, Psychonauts, Devil May Cry 3,
Star Fox Adventures, Killer 7, Tomb Raider Legend, Zelda 4 Swords, Viewtiful Joe: Red Hot Rumble.
...oy, I know there's more. The Gamecube list in particular is lengthy, but I'm not at home right now so I can't rummage through everything.

But normally I probably buy 5 to 7 games per year, probably.

Looking at my collection, I can see that my purchasing habits really vary year to year. Averaging them out, I buy or receive as a gift about 8 games per year. This year, however, between the 360 and Wii, it's going to be 13! If you included VC games, it's more like 25.

around 10-15...
unless I find some good bargains on ebay...
since I got the wii 7 months ago, caught by some type of nintendo fever, I bought a lot of GCube games which I didn't buy in the past to complete my collection...

so this year maybe I'm around 30 or something...

oh... and i downloaded 14 VC games so far...

I usually buy 10-12 games per year...sometimes a few more...sometimes a few less.

This is pretty evenly split between the DS and Wii. I have not bought any NEW games for the PS2 this year...I have picked up a couple of the 'weird' games that I come across (like Dogs Life, Mr Mosquito, etc.) in the used section of my local game store.

There are quite a few that I am interseted in for holiday and early next year...so maybe next year there will be a few more than this year.

In the last two years, something like 25-30 games a year. I rarely buy $50 games and usually hold out for price drops, though. The last three *new* games I got were Twilight Princess, Super Paper Mario, and Final Fantasy XII way back on at its midnight launch.

Usually I would say paybe I get 15 games spliut between all my systems (Xbox, Gamecube, PS2, Wii, 360, DS).

This year is the exception. I pissed alot of gems in the last gen war, so I am trying to capture them now. I would say this year alone... I so far have gotten... 30-40 games? There is not enough time to play them all yet, so I have a pile of games to play- and whenever I do play games I NEVER have a gaming drought.

Also, I think Wii breaks some records for me. I think for a system, 5 games a year is generally enough, I plan on getting 10 Wii games in 2007. So far, I own: Wii Sports, Wii Play, Super Paper Mario, Resident Evil 4, Zelda: Twilight Princess, Warioware: Smoothmoves, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.

These games have yet to come out, but I NEED them. They are: Zach and Wiki: Quest for Barbados Treasure (Oct 22), Battalion Wars 2 (Oct 29), Fire Emblem: Radient Dawn (Nov 5), Super Mario Galaxy (Nov 12).

Super Smash Bros Brawl, Mario Kart Wii, Wii Fit (if it seems cool enough at the time), and No More Heroes are also on my future list.

This is a very crazy year for gaming.

Before the Wii, I bought something like 2-4 PC games per year, mostly older games from the budget bin. I got my Wii in April, and now I have about ~30 games for it, half of which are oldies from Gamecube best-of lists. Plus a dozen or so VC downloads.

Of course, I am not addicted at all. I can quit any time.

I buy a lot of games of ebay or amazon second hand, so like 20-40 games a year, not counting VC or xbox live market place.

Maybe a dozen or so, but maybe only one of those would be brand new at full price. This last year I bought a few used games and actually started selling old ones. The only new full price game I got (not counted Wii Play since it came with a controller which I wanted anyway) was Super Paper Mario which I traded for RE4:Wii Edition once I beat it. I bought a few used Xbox and PS2 games, and that's about it.

I just bought a Wii a month ago, so I don't have a huge library yet. I bought Zelda TP, RE4, Metroid 3, and I bought Call of Duty 3 used a couple days ago. Oh, and I pre-ordered Manhunt 2, because I know it will be awesome, despite the sad loss of the Testi-Kill. I also bought Super Castlevania and Super Metroid on the VC.

On the PS2 (which is now pretty neglected, honestly) I bought 2-3 games a month. I usually only bought used games, and sold my old ones when I tired of them, so I never really spent a lot of money on games. That's changed with the purchase of the Wii (where even used games are pretty pricey) and even better, a HUGE pay hike in my job, which will pay for much more besides games. ;-)

Honestly, I'm pretty happy with the number of games available, between Wii releases and the VC. Besides CoD3, I haven't dipped into any "ports with waggle" yet, and don't really expect to with Battalion Wars 2, Mario Galaxy, Manhunt 2, and SSBB on the horizon, plus I have yet to play Ocarina of Time (the Wii is my first Nintendo console).

Being at work, and not having my Delicious Library online, I'll have to guess... I'd say for the Wii I've purchased ~10 games in the last year, NOT accounting for VC and GC titles. I'd say there are probably around 10 more of those. I'm pretty much of the camp that if I think the game will be fun for me, I'll pick it up, and there are a lot of old GC games ooking to be played. You may want to modify the question of how many NEW games do you pick up a year, versus used/DL'd games.

Hrm, I think it's important to divide between bought new and bought used, especially if this is kinda sorta "market research". I probably get 10 or less games new per year, but sometimes I get that many or more used in addition, usually below the 20 dollar marker, and especially if EB is running a buy-two-get-one special.

This year, I got stuff like SPM, Metroid, BioShock, and Orange Box new, but I bought a bunch of used stuff that came out a year or three ago, mostly for PS2 -- there's so many games in that library, you can't throw a rock in an EB without hitting at least one gem you totally forgot about that now costs 7 dollars.

I only have two Wii games. Metroid and Zelda. Three if you count Wii Sports. Guilty Gear Accent Core, Victorious Boxers, and Manhunt 2 are all serious contenders for my next purchases(it helps when games start as budget titles). More than likely I will wait for price drops.

I am the tru definition of a CAG. The funny thing is I have a 52 HDTV and I don't yet own a 360 or PS3. I wish Nintendo would support the format. Played UNCHARTED this weekend @ a sony event and almost caved on the PS3. And that SFII Turbo HD Remix is calling me, but only an HDMI elite for less than $250 will make me convert. Usually the only time I buy new games are as presents for my 9 year old (DS) or my wifey hooks me up on my birthday, c-mas, anniv and such.

2007 has been the year of the VC for me. I have just about all I can fit on my Wii on there, a mix of NES, a sprinkle of SNES, and tons of Turbo and Genesis as I didn't have them the first go round. I buy 3 or so new titles a year, but easily 15- 20 used and have never ever traded a game in. Still buy a lot of PS2, PS1, dreamcast, and cube titles too. I am a hidden gems man, Shin Megami here and Last Blade there. Samurai Showdown or Ys on VC and Mario Galaxy/No More Heroes are must owns and I won't wait seconds when they are released.

So far this year I have bought 9 Wii games, 29 VC games, 3 360 games, 8 XBOX Live Arcade games, 4 DS games, and 1 PC game. But this has also been an above average year since I still have plans for 3 more Wii games, god knows how many more VC games, and 1 more 360 game. Before this year I would normally only buy 20 or less.
