Yeah, I agree with your comments. Plus adding to the casual crowd that owns Wii (which I would say make up 1/3 of Wii owners - it's not like they don't have lives and families to take care. Of course they're not going to be playing all the time. Maybe they did get tired of the Wii, but there really hasn't been too much out there for them to buy. I certainly think the numbers are skewed a bit, because working at Blockbuster, most of the big Wii games are constantly checked out (Cooking Mama, Carnival Games, Mario Strikers Charged, Trauma Center, MySims, Paper Mario, Zelda, MP3) and PS3 there's usually about 3-4 games rented out - usually the newest ones and nothing else. Every week there's at least a handful of parents that come in and ask about a certain Wii game. So is this a fad? Maybe, but I doubt the sales will drop anytime soon, especially since people are having so much fun with the system even after a year.

And the Joystiq poll is obviously skewed because most people don't have a Wii yet (waiting for SMG & Smash) or they're too busy playing the 360 - and for good reason. There's a ton of great games for the 360, not so much the Wii. I think we should wait to see if the Wii's a fad or not until next holiday season. Then there will be plenty of Wiis in stock and the game numbers will be more important then.

Mine gets very little usage. This week, when the new update hit I spent time installing that and downloaded Mario Kart 64 for a quick blast, but it's gathering dust.

My Xbox 360 gets more use, but still not quite enough. My DS is so indispensable I managed to justify upgrading to a Lite.

I only have 2 games for my Wii, Zelda and Elebits. Only played Elebits the first day I got it and it strained my eyes too much to play it. I only just finished Zelda last week, after a 6 month hiatus or so. None of my VC games work for some reason (I just wanna play Ecco the Dolphin, is that too much to ask?).

Guitar Hero 3 will get played of course, but after that I can't think of what else I would play. Mario Galaxy hasn't quite piqued my interest enough yet.

Oh well... here's to hoping for a 360 this Christmas.

Wow...joystiq.com's unofficial poll is on the money. 389 (27%) playing the Wii vs 835 (57%) that is not. I'm assuming 243 (17%) do not have one at all.

I've had my Wii for a year and played Wii Sports, Wii Zelda, and Wii Metroid Prime.

I know the Joystiq folks are just havin' some fun, but I refuse to answer this poll. I am using Wii right now (a lot) but not for Wii Sports. Pshaw. How about Metroid Prime 3 (still, yes ... because it's that good), Dance Dance Revolution (laugh it up, it's a great workout, Wii Fit be damned :P) and Spider-Man: FoF (really not that bad). Plus, how about Zelda II and Punch Out on VC?

I signed on to get the update last week and while I was on I voted in the Everybody Votes channel? Does that count? If not, then, no, I haven't played the Wii in a few weeks.

I was just saying how I haven't turned on the Wii for at least a month. The only time it is used is when some people come over. And now that Halo 3 is out, I don't think it will be used at all. Maybe I can sell it on Ebay or to one of my friends. Unless Smash Bros. or Mario Kart can change my mind.

I play mine all the time. I played through MP3 twice, and recently I've been rocking Sin & Punishment. If you haven't played that yet and you're complaining about your Wii collecting dust, you should probably just die. Seriously.

I like my Wii, but really, I haven't played it more than 24 total hours since I got it at launch (probably less).

I didn't get hyped for Metroid (which I want to go back and play), but Mario will get me some playtime. The graphics do hurt it for me since I bought a 52" 1080p LCD...that and the fact that other games are more immersive (graphics, audio, production value, story, etc).

So THAT'S what makes games immersive:

1. Graphics
2. Audio
3. Production Value
4. Story
5. etc.

I guess stuff like play control, A.I. and concept go under "etc" huh?

Don't be a moron. Just because I said graphics are important, doesn't mean they're paramount.

In Metroid Prime where is the story? BioShock did a MUCH better job, and with its better graphics and audio (not to mention AI, pace, etc) I was able to immerse myself more into the game.

You're not honestly going to try and tell me Nintendo games are known for their incredible story lines and graphics, are you?

And for the record, I have 100+ GameCube games and 8vgames for the Wii (most which I've barely played). At this point, however, I'm far more satisfied (and use more often) with my Xbox 360, especially since I have a 52" 1080p LCD that really kicks things up a notch.

"Don't be a moron."

Okay, I won't.

"In Metroid Prime where is the story? BioShock did a MUCH better job, and with its better graphics and audio (not to mention AI, pace, etc) I was able to immerse myself more into the game."

Comparing these two games is pointless. They have almost nothing in common beyond perspective and age. This does back up your previous statements which indicate that your level of "immersion" in the game is more directly related to graphics than gameplay.

"You're not honestly going to try and tell me Nintendo games are known for their incredible story lines and graphics, are you?"

Well, no. But if that's all your looking for, then you should probably buy a PS3, lock yourself in your room and wait for MGS4, which will be awesome. Or, y'know, watch a movie.

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with nice shiny graphics or big shiny TV's. I just think there's more to gaming than that. The game I spent the most time on last week was a 10-year-old N64 game (Sin & Punishment) and I loved every minute of it.

Haha, my TV's bigger than yours and I'll be playing the hell out of Galaxy on it. Having a gigantic HDTV does not make it impossible to enjoy non-HD content. Just like having color does not make it impossible to enjoy black and white films or photography. Just like having video games does not make it impossible to enjoy reading a book every once in a while.

And critics are raving about Galaxy's graphics actually, saying whether it's HD or not it's the most beautiful game ever made.

Refusing to breakdown into a drivel of sexual innuendo:

I know six people who own a Wii. Each plays it at least 3 times a week. I play mine for at least 5 hours a week, about an hour more than the 360. There's just much more to play on the Wii right now.

1. The poll is a bad idea. It won't be correct because all the Wii fanboys will vote yes, and all the Wii haters will vote no, and the "truthful" votes will be bogged down in flaming.
2. I have a Wii and honestly if it wasn't for DDR I would not be playing it. But I guess you could say that about a lot of systems?
3. Wii Sports would have been better if you could compare your medals to friends online, or if there was a leaderboard. MAYBE Wii Sports 2 will have this.
4. I am waiting for Brawl, NiGHTS, and COD:H2

I was lucky enough to get a Wii on launch day. Played a number of games including Zelda, tiger woods golf, elebits, a couple of driving games. None of those are as compelling as Wii Sports. The only time the Wii get's powered up nowadays is do demo for company. My kids are pretty much bored of it and prefer their ds.

I was pretty high on the wii when I got it and for some reason, I find myself drawn to nice shiney 360. I will probably pick up a 360 at christmas and hopefully it can my interest. Maybe i'm just getting bored with video games in general.......

I have only been playing Metriod, so over the past two weeks I have not touched it. Mario Galaxy and SSBB are the two other Wii games I am looking to get my hands on, but as of right now I can not see myself playing it anymore until these games come out.

The problem is not that the system is lacking, it is that the games are coming out too far apart. We need more triple A titles, like Zelda and Metriod. This are the few games that keep me coming back to the Wii as well as the few party games (Wii Bowling FTW and Mario Party). However, until we can see more party games like SSBB and Mario Kart I do not think I am going to be spending that much time on the system. Until then I will be focusing most of my attention to the PC :D

I have slowly been making my way through MP3, Zelda, and RE4. Wii Sports and the VC get pulled out when the girlfriend wants to play. The slow stream of games has been enough to keep me occupied so I'm not disappointed at all with my purchase. At the same time, I would really like to see some third party devs get serious with the system because it really does have alot of potential.

I have the Wii, PS3 and 360. Honestly my Wii eats the most amount of dust. I love Nintendo and think their 1st party games are some of the best ever made. However their 1st party games are few and far between. With that I don't care for much else that comes out for the Wii, Nintendo has the lowest standards of quality control when it comes to the 3rd party software that gets put onto their system.I say 90% of the 3rd party software that get released on the Wii is total garbage not worth persons hard earned money. Remember that seal that use to be on Nintendo games "Official Nintendo Seal of Quality"? Yeah well now it's just the "Official Nintendo Seal", and trust me there is a reason for that! Honesty I could crap in a box and come up with a clever or cute name and Nintendo would publish it!

Nintendo lost its spot as top dog on the N64 almost exclusively to back up their "Seal of Quality". Then they got a crapton of flack during GC era because they weren't nice enough to 3rd parties. Now that they've got the 3rd parties back by doing away with their stringent quality program, you get pissed when nothing but shovelware comes out for it.

Make up your freaking minds people.

I have a cycle. I finished up Metroid Prime 3 recently and started playing a bunch of VC games, including Sin & Punishment and Lost Levels. I have Super Star Soldier but I still haven't beaten that bitch. Afterward, I put some old-skool time into Mega Man & Bass, swapping between that and Planet Puzzle League. I purchased Phantom Hourglass last week and have been playing that nonstop. After I am done with my DS, I'll probably go back to what I was playing before Metroid Prime 3: R-Type Final for the PS2. I also have Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner which I haven't even started yet. I am also in the middle of Eternal Darkness, but I should probably restart that since it has been a while.

I might want to pick up Mercury Meltdown Revolution, but with Guitar Hero III appearing at the end of this month... I dunno.

So am I playing my Wii 24-7? No. Then again, I'm not playing ANYTHING 24-7. I cycle. Therefore, I don't feel this "drought" that everyone keeps whining about.

I haven't even booted for the system update.

And there really aren't any games on the immediate horizon that I'm interested in.

If Wiis go for a lot this holiday season on the eBays, I might part with mine. Truthfully, I'm not all that impressed by it. It was an impulse buy.

If the Wii is nothing more than a Tamagotchi, it's one expensive-ass Tamagotchi!

The Wii may not have the highest attach rate, and a large chunk of Wii owners may not ever use it for anything other than WiiSports, but I think it's a bit of a stretch to call it a "fad" when it's still going strong almost a year into its life cycle. Unlike those Hypercolor shirts of the 80's or Tamagotchis of the 90's, which came in at a price point that made them disposable, people aren't going to be so quick to dump their $250 "investments."

For the casual gamers that think of it as the WiiSports machine and grow weary of the title, the system may gather dust until some publisher comes up with the next big casual title. That doesn't necessarily help non-casual Wii gamers get the traditional games they desire, but it doesn't hurt them anymore than if the casual gamer had never purchased the system in the first place. It just means that publishers can't use total system sales alone to determine whether a title will be successful on the system.

I have all the Three Consoles But I will rank the usage of the three as follow:
XBOX 360 50% ( HAlo 3 Great)
PS 3 45% (Heavenly Sword very good)
Wii 5% ( Where is Mario ?!?!)
The Xbox 360 rocks it has a huge library of games, XBOX Live, Movies Marketplace, XBOX Arcade.
The PS 3 has some good game such as Resistance, Motorstorm, lair and heavenly sword but the big Armada of great titles is on the way (Metal Gear) as also it does Blu-Ray out of the Box.
Wii has Nothing or maybe Metroid butbeside that I don't Play it at all My friend has one he wanted to sell it 1 month after he bought it, it is a revolution of the people that has been stoped by government Power (XBOX 360 and PS3 ) Sorry Nintendo, But your DS Rocks.
