With the PES / PS3 bundle coming at the end of the month, I think sales will do just fine.

Honestly, I don't care so much about BC either. I bought a Wii to play old school games.

400$ and it still doesn't feel worth it..and I thought that was my cutoff point for consoles.. I mean, I thought I wanted one.. but I geuss not.

if there were more (good) games, then sure.

I guess I'll still wait until next year.. come onnnn MGS4! (come to 360 and I'll never have to touch that silly ps3)

I'm praying for Final Fantasy XIII myself but even if that doesn't happen I still won't touch it...

I'd rather just rent one from somewhere and check out the game for a few days to see if its really that great.

It'll probably be like all other FF. Mostly cutscenes (which admittedly will look awesome) but gamewise boring.

I've pretty much enjoyed most of the STORIES when it comes to Final Fantasy but the games themselves are just not deep to me.

$399? Not bad. Too bad I can only play PS3 games on it. I actually do want a PS3, but not to play the handful of of decent PS3 games currently available. After all, $400 is a lot for me to pay just to wait for MGS4 to come out. And if I really cared about HD movies, my 500G external hard drive would be full of them. Dedicated players and proprietary discs are damn near obsolete these days with storage being so cheap.

So, yeah, I will definitely get a PS3 eventually, but I'll wait for now. By the time the PS3 library really kicks off, the PS3 will probably see another price drop (it's already seen 2 price drops and 5 different models in just 11 months; that's an average of one major strategy revision every 1.6 months).

Those who claim that the new SKU is not backward compatible with ps2 software are seriously misinformed.

Unlike ps3 games which could use all of the cell processor ps2 games only use a portion of the processor. The left over processing power is used for ps2 game emulation, instead of the ps2 emote chip which was only included in the first model to save development time.

The new 40gig SKU will has the same BC as the 60gig European model, and 80gig models.

The misinformed one here is you. Sony has said that there is no PS BC in the 40 gig SKU, and there are no plans to implement BC in it via software.

You are the biggest loser! Hurray! Wait a sec, this isn't the reality tv show about wait loss?

NM, You are the leaskest link jyorgan. Goodbye!

Sorry, but you sony fanboyism has left you blind. Sony themselves has said no bc in the 40GB ps3s with no plans for a software implementation. Backwarsd compatibility uses two chips. One the emotion chip and the other a graphics chip. The original ps3s used both, later used just graphics, new ones use neither so no bc.

This is very good news for everyone. Finally the ps3 comes to a price point that is acceptable for a game machine. Also this puts pressure on MS to make meaningful price cuts. I'm hoping for another $50 for black friday.

you'd be a retard to buy a ps3 vs a 360 right now. 360 has way more good games, the 20gb 360 is 350 bucks and has (some) b/c, while the cheapest ps3 is still $50 more and has NO b/c

If I were MS i wouldn't drop the price until spring, when mgs4 and ff13 are closer to release

Ha! Everyday I come into Target and see Urgent News on Workbench regarding stores breaking street dates. It always says at the end that Target is subject to massive fines... waiting for someone to drop a bomb on us. I have literally gotten into arguments, quite frequently I might add, with sales floor team members and leaders that they should not be putting these things out yet.
