I'd like to know how this game made it through Microsoft certification with this problem.

I was wondering if anyone else was having the same stupidness on their end. Guess so.

I was really hyped for the TF2 (and I really REALLY enjoyed Portal and Episode 2) but the lag made the game nearly unplayable. I hope this fixes the problem becuase I really want to like this game as much as I like everything else in the Orange Box.

How much of this problem could actually be fixed by a patch? I mean this only happens to me whenever the host has set the max players too high for their connection.

Its a shining example of why Xbox Live needs dedicated servers... if only for certain games.

Heh, enjoy your laggy, tiny games, chumps. I'll be ducking my spy among the 12 enemy team members on the dedicated PC server of my choice.

Once I install this new $140 video card... oh, right. Well, it's worth it, if you ask me ;-)

$140 video card? where are you shopping? 1999?
a "decent" 8800gts is going for at least $300.

I blame the lag on morons with crappy connections hosting games. I host on FiOS and never had one complaint of lag.

That the nice part of buying games months after they come out. They will already have some patches. Hopefully by Christmas there will also be some DLC for Portal to.

This is the same problem The Darkness suffered from. When you could get into a lag free game,it was something that was so much fun with the shapeshifting. When it lagged,it was to the point where you warped ACROSS the level.

Great games ruined by lag = me sad face.

Terd Ferg,

I was on the fence with this title as well. I couldn't be happier. It's pretty amazing on the 360. I would have to say "The Orange Box" is the best title on the 360. I'm not one to gush over games, but this one is certainly worth. I haven't picked up Halo 3, since I got it.

James,

while i applaud your attempt to make fun of someone who bought the same game as you and thus shares your tastes... i have to say you really should be criticizing valve for not also dedicating servers to 360 tf2 players. 360 owners have every right to have the same experience on their consoles as you do on your $140 videocard pc. the fact that valve is releasing a patch confirms that right. chump.

Valve didn't make the choice to have or not have dedicated servers, Microsoft is almost as bad as nintendo when it comes to keeping their fingers on all the buttons of their online experience, why is the lag so bad on the 360 you ask? Microsoft wouldnt give them the same APIs that certain in house studios (bungie) get.
