The only problem is that you don't have it yet. Valve knows that some of you playing the Orange Box have experienced lag while playing 8-on-8 or 6-on6 Team Fortress 2 games, and they've reacted quickly, making a title update for the game designed to fix the issues.
Now, the title update must make it through the gauntlet of Microsoft's certification process. Should it make it out alive, 1UP says you can probably expect the lag situation to be improved by this weekend or early next week. Good luck, little title update. We're rooting for you.

Serious laggage on my end... I couldn't tell if someone had turned on a noclip code, or if I was still playing Portal

it's a lot harder to fix consoles, so it's nice they take an extra couple of days to make sure the patch is good
i don't even have oj box yet though

Now if only they had done that with multi-player originally. Valve makes good games, but the certification process didn't do much the first time around.
I really, really don't want to see consoles lose a prime feature: Games that do not require patching before they become playable. Sadly, they are becoming like their PC cousins with every passing year.

Certification has nothing to do with catching things like lag or game bugs.
Certification is designed to make sure things like the Xbox Guide work as they are supposed to while the game is running, or that when someone invites you to a TF2 game, it knows what to do. Stuff like that.

Glad I bought mine for the PC. Still, good to hear the 360 owners are getting a fix. Team Fortress 2 is too much fun to be ruined by the lag demon.

Yeah, the only time I had problems is when a bit of spyware tat managed to get on my machine. I stomped on that pretty quickly. Why is it the legal peer to peer software is far more dodgy than the illegal stuff these days? I was going to get BBC programs using their service, but it installed some shit that was forever looking for internet access, even when I shut the app down. So fuck'em, TV links for me from now on...
Sorry, went a bit off topic there.

They should have had beta like CoD4. Now let's see if CoD4 lags.

I cant play HL2 without getting sick to my stomach. Ive read up on it and people have blamed the Field of View (75 degrees instead of 90) and the lack of camera bob. PC users have the option to change these but on 360 they are fixed settings. I dont know if this will work or not. I think the game is kinda wonky. I feel like I get motion sickness when my body expects motion to happen and it doesnt or when the field of view moves when my body does not expect it to. I think the physics engine (stacking boxes) causes it as well - I expect the boxes to move in a certain way but they dont. Why are we still stacking boxes in games anyway? This is revolutionary gameplay?

you'll get used to it over a few days, just stop playing when you get sick

Crap, if the 360 is lagging the PS3 is going to be like 5 frames a second. I hope they launch patches with the game in December.

TF2 has locked up on me several times, usually right after a game, Valve needs to get on that, too

The best solution to lag is just to whore as an Engineer. Cuz your auto aim turrets don't know what this "lag" is. They sure know what "frag" is, though.

Indeed but even without the lag, if you see me on and I'm an engineer. Watch out son, not only will I come at you like a ghost my fortafications can't be stoped. I play hardcore defense and won't be bated away like some others out there. But from time-to-time I do enjoy a nice blitz-kreig as a scout.
I use to do the same thing lag-wise with Shadowrun. Got about half of my minion kills via lag, they ignore the lag and rack up the kills. To bad the minion sucked balls in that game though and that FASA died, god I loved Shadowrun. But alteast with teamfortress it has the same type of heavy teamplay/strategy but with the added bonus of developer support after launch.

All engineer teams, you gotta love em. Now I LOVE engineers with balls. The ones that can get inside the enemy base and set up a teleporter near the target and can hold their own until backup arrives. LOVE those guys. I HATE the engineers who cower in a corner of their own base, behind their turret (often next to the bloody supply point), doing FUCK ALL though the whole match. Yeah, I enjoy watching those dick-weeds sit their with their thumbs up their ass during sudden death, happily watching the clock tick down to a draw.

I thought I was alone in this situation... I would love to play TF2, but the 2 times I've fired it up, it is unplayable with the amount of lag (like a previous poster said, "like someone turned on 'no clipping' mode"). This is off of the same box that never has an issue in Halo 3 multiplayer.
Oh well. This is the first time I've gotten to play HL2. What an awesome game... "If I ain't seen it, it's new to me!"

Microsoft's problem, not Valve's.
PC version plays just fine, even the beta did.

It is funny that so many games turn into 4 engineers vs 4 engineers. I guess people like to camp? I never experienced any lag in COD4.

Yeah Im really disappointed that when I stack a box on top of another one in real life that it doesnt shake and twitch uncontrollably.

The fact that it needs the microsoft check is kinda bad, I mean, else, people would've been leg-less earlier.

Well, this hoop jumping to apply patches is why you'll never see Wow for the 360. Blizzard just couldn't be arsed with all the red tape.

I got it for PC myself, and there's hardly ever any lag there... seems odd that it would pop up so much in the console version.

My understanding is that the PC version uses dedicated servers, while the console versions use peer hosting.

Indeed Adam Sutherland. PC games always have a few dedicated servers for a lag free environment. Last game(only game for that matter) I've ever seen with dedicated servers for a console game was Farcry on the xbox, may have been 1 or 2 for the 360 version as well.

Please add EMP grenades for the engineers, napalm and lava trap for the pyros, nail grenades for the soldiers...meh, just gimme the old Quake TF! :P

Personally I think the only people who miss grenades are people who can't shoot for shit. Stick to being the demoman if you like them so much. He's a real pain in the butt to people if you can use him (which admittedly I can't).

same, ryan. if i disconnect from a game thats already ended because i dont wanna wait for it to bring me back to the lobby it locks up. its locked up several other times from various reasons but the disconnect is a surefire way to get it to.

Am I the only one that finds TF2 boring? TF1 was great back in the day, but they've hardly done much to improve it gameplay-wise since. They just added some fancy cartoon style themes to the game. The maps are still pretty small, and the gameplay gets pretty boring fast. I returned back to Halo3 MP after one day of TF2. Portal was great though, and Episode 1 and 2 are lots of fun. Too bad TF2 turned out to be so blah. I can't wait for more Portal content to come out.

team fortress 2-much ado about nothing
i bought this game. aggravation central here. i give it a 50/50 rating. it sure has alot of bullshit characteristics. for instance. the time it takes to respawn is aggravating. the players are unevenly matched. the enemies move way to fast. some of the weapons dont move fast enough such as the bazooka. you cant target someone from a moderate distance and hope they will be in the line of fire. some of your own weapons can kill you but your teams cant. then the bullshit reloading and being killed when u do. plus no end bosses. maybe the company should hire me to make the second game. its strange haveing to move your team so far, just to get to the battle on some levels. plus having both sides of the conflict with exactly the same surroundings is confussing if u get turned around. why alot of people think this game is so great shows that it must be young or inexpierenced players playing this game. how about adding the giant mechanised spider like the one in serious sam 2 for an end boss. i just love getting killed by an enemy after i clearly shot him repeatedly first. i can go on and on.... major improvemnts are needed to make a (great) game. how about an online zelda like multi player game.

I still have lag issues with the game, I'm thinking that if the TF2 for 360 is linking with the PC version then there are lag hackers that are making the game more aggravating!
@Paul, WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! The game was made that way, and this is the 2nd game, the original TF is great, but this one is much better.
