5 free HD DVD offer makes its way to the UK [update]

Update: Oops, looks like our American calendar reading habits got the best of us again. This offer is for any HD DVD players purchased after October 1st and not January 10th like we originally stated. Color us embarrassed.

Good news for our friends in the UK, because now they're getting in on the free HD DVD fun too. Microsoft recently made The Perfect Offer available to UK Xbox 360 HD DVD player owners, offering up five free HD DVD movies with player purchase. And just like the offer Stateside, the five free HD DVDs have to be sent for via snail-mail and must be chosen from separate categories of pre-selected movies (full list after the break). But what makes this offer even cooler is the fact that anyone who purchased the 360 HD DVD ~~January 10th, 2007~~ October 1st, 2007 or later is eligible for the offer. That means if you picked up the player anytime after October 1st and have your receipt, then you can simply print off this form and send for your free movies. The Perfect Offer is one sweet deal and we're glad to see that the marketing execs are allowing our friends in the UK to get in on it. HD DVD FTW!

The UK deal only qualifies for purchases after 1/10/07, which is October 1, 2007.

And...Canada already annonced the deal yesterday!

Dustin - I think you read the dates wrong. It's from the 1st October not January. Remember, here in Britain are in this format (DD/MM/YYYY) not the US way (MM/DD/YYYY)

Erm hate to say it but this is a UK form, and so follows UK date format - DAY/MONTH/YEAR

does anyone take advantage of the WMV-HD capabilities? you can put those hi-def wmv movies on regular DVD-Rs.

This five free HD-DVD offer is no longer available in the US. Just bought an HD-DVD player and looked at the fine print (which I should've done before I bought the player!)...you had to buy it before October 1st...

I'd get one if they said that they'd release HD-DVD versions of multiple DVD games like Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey.
If I was in the market for a high def player, I'd probably pay the extra and get a stand alone one (once we knew the winner of course).

Ok possibly the worlds stuppidest question but does anyone know if this offer is open to people who but there player from ebay. As i purchased mine on the 6/10/07 but it was from ebay so does this count.

@18 as long as you purchased a "NEW" HD DVD player and can produce proof of purchase, I don't see why they would not honour this special offer.
