Jaffe pops the top on Eat Sleep Play's Logo
Ever since David Jaffe announced he was striking off on his own with new development house Eat Sleep Play, there's one particular bit of information gamers everywhere have been clamoring for. No, not the company's first original title -- what gamers really want to see is the logo.
Well, the day has finally arrived. At long last fans, well-wishers and hangers-on can check out the above logo, courtesy of Newsweek. Jaffe says the soda-bottle-cap logo represents "the heart and soul of what our company is all about ... fizzy, refreshing fun." Frankly, it makes us think of Popcap Games more than anything like that.
Along with the exclusive logo reveal, Newsweek has also posted up the first two parts of a three-part interview with Jaffe wherein he talks up the financial possibilities of smaller games and bravely reveals that he doesn't know what the word "remuneration" means. Careful David... those internet trolls are real sticklers for vocabulary.

I hadn't ever even heard of David Jaffe before Joystiq covered his infamous melt-down - and I follow games pretty closely. I still don't know who he is or what he does... and you know what? I don't really care.
Silver R. Wolfe @ Oct 17th 2007 7:16PM
He created God of War.
Gangsta Smurf @ Oct 17th 2007 8:02PM
How the hell do you follow games closely but don't know who created God of War?
Marty @ Oct 18th 2007 2:11AM
I guess I follow pretty much everything but Playstation... God of War looks like just another beat 'em up, anyway.
Justin @ Oct 18th 2007 2:58AM
Then I'd say you don't really follow games all that closely, seeing as you conveniently ignore what amounts to at least a 3rd of the market.
Vidikron (FU) @ Oct 18th 2007 10:13AM
Yeah...LOL. I don't think you can claim to follow ghames closely and not keep track of the Playstation. It was THE brand the last two generations (i.e. for more than a decade!). As the others stated, Jaffe was themain developer behidn God of War, but he was also the main dev behind the Twisted Metal series too.

Calling All Cars sucked... i wish i my wallet wad renumerated on that account.
Shagittarius @ Oct 17th 2007 6:44PM
Calling all Crap, more like it.
Shagittarius @ Oct 17th 2007 6:43PM
'remuneration' = renumeration?
REUYL @ Oct 17th 2007 7:01PM
Great! Now we'll all remember exactly who to blame for Calling All Cars.

Jaffe has the same problem that many western developers have. There are a million way to say things with out starting drama.
Jaffe is like that guy that wants to tell his friend that his newly married finance is pretty. Now there are many different ways of saying this. Such as "congrats on the marriage man!" and "damn I wish I could one day have as good as relationship as you two have!"
Instead Jaffe shows his affection by saying "Your wife is so fucking hot, especially in her ass! I would SOOOOO love to bone her, in the ass!" Then he gets punched in the face and cries wondering what why the guy punched him. Like its some big fucking unsolved mystery.
Sidepocket @ Oct 17th 2007 7:04PM
Oh BTW, I forgot to adjust my repost. I meant to say "Newly Married Wife". Can we get an edit/delete post feature here or is Joystiq too lazy to put one in?
aqtrans @ Oct 17th 2007 7:35PM
If he wants, he could take my domain, eatsleepgame.com, off my hands for a handsome price...
Too @ Oct 17th 2007 7:45PM
What a crappy name for a company. Eat Sleep Play? But perhaps Live Game Die was already taken.
dan stabbingworth @ Oct 17th 2007 10:16PM
I'll bet the guys at "eat sleep game" are rather annoyed...
Neebs @ Oct 17th 2007 8:54PM
Should have modeled it after a Bawls cap.
Tim @ Oct 17th 2007 9:11PM
I honestly believe that if Jaffe never sold a game again, as long as he recieved attention, he would live a happy and complete life.
Sharp @ Oct 17th 2007 10:28PM
I don't even have to read the interview I can already guess what he said.. "F this and F that".. "Sony, Sony, Sony".. "I polish Phil Harrisons knob".. blah blah blah "Did I mention I love Sony".
OrganicShadow @ Oct 17th 2007 11:37PM
I immediately think of beer or a potion or something before a soda or PopCap games. I get a Fallout vibe from it.
Either way, I think we can all agree that many non-twist bottle caps infest gaming areas of home throughout the world.
