Lost Planet finds its way to PlayStation 3 in '08

After initially speculating that their frozen shooter Lost Planet could come to PS3, then stating (quite unequivocally) that neither Lost Planet nor Dead Rising would find their way to the Wii or PS3 (for reasons which, at that point, were apparently "quite convoluted"), Capcom has announced at their London Gamer's Day event that Lost Planet will indeed be on PS3 "early next year." A wise choice, considering the Xbox 360 shooter did quite well in North America but didn't make a dent in Japan (... we wonder why).

Games Radar says the PS3 package will sport 16-player online over PSN, as well as include "all bonus characters" from the PC version and "extra downloadable content" from the 360 version (apparently "made possible" by the platform's capacious Blu-ray format).

so... are you saying someone's enjoyment of a game should be based on some sort of schedule?

if a game is a year old has it's ability to provide enjoyment has somehow expired?

well that sucks... i still haven't played oblivion, lost planet, graw, r6 vegas or bioshock yet.

should i just go ahead and give away my 360 because these games aren't going to provide me with any fun by the time i get around to fitting them into my schedule... or should i just conform to your gaming schedule to make sure i play them when they're still fun?

I would agree with said statement robert,but have you seen the reviews of Halo and Halo 2 when they hit the PC?

Lost Planet is as old as Virtua Fighter 5 which happens to suck big time on the 360 because of the clunky controller and the graphics aren't even close to the PS3 version!

Have fun dude, the game is alright but nothing special. Still not sure how or why it sold over a million copies. Enjoy trying to make sense of the story and the final boss fight.

Actually I will be enjoying VF5 playing online with my friends. How do you like the online features for VF5 on PS3... oh, that's right... sorry I totally forgot...

To answer your question, yes, you should give away your 360. In its place you should get an SNES because according to your logic you should have just as much fun playing those games as you do on the current gen systems! Have fun homie!

Hey ten, you ever heard of the GBA? It basically had SNES style games. They were just new, and they were pretty fun and sold well. Metroid Fusion FTW. If you haven't already played it, those good SNES games are still fun.

i have more fun playing my SNES than any other console around.

And yeah I'm enjoying VF5 right now as well...the graphics are better than the ps3. We've got online multiplayer....what more could you want?

Meh, same as when Resident Evil 4 went from a Gamecube exclusive to the PS2. There exclusivity of a game usually runs out after a year, and then it's fair game.

Too late, Capcom. :\ If it was DEAD RISING(with a fixed font type & size), I'd be fine with it... but LOST PLANET? Eh... can't get hyped over that, especially with the other FPS games out or soon to be released.

The only thing that I dont like about dead rising is having to listen to my friends tell me how great this game looks based on the commercial. Its CG damnit!!!!

Yeah Capcom, forget it. The game sucks anyway, and releasing it two years late isn't doing anyone including yourself any favors. You'll just spend money porting this, release it to sheer apathy and then become even more soured on the PS3 when really it's your own stupidity.

Make new games, not 18 month old ones.

If this is the announcement I hate them a lot MORE now! Great idea Capcom, why don't you try to win over PS3 users by releasing a SHITTY TWO YEAR OLD GAME on their system. You are dead to me Capcom!

I enjoyed the game on 360. Not groundbreaking but the story and gameplay was good I thought. It came out too soon after GoW and everybody was comparing it to that (which it doesn't hold up to at all).

yes lets compare a free roaming zombie romp (which it is a first of and was awesome) to a limited third person shooter....... As games both had flaws but Dead Risings only truly complainable flaw was the time limit while is Gears... There were so many gameplay flaws and hype for something so limited...

Intentless, seeing as Dead Rising came out months BEFORE Gears of War, I think he's referring to God of War there, which it also doesn't come close to matching up to.

Dead Rising was a poor game with awful hacks in it to make it longer (the time limit and playing over and over again) and a truly terrible save game system. It really only did well because there was little else to play on 360 at the time.

Despite its flaws, Dead Rising was also still quite a bit better than Lost Planet.

WTH... miyagi was talking about Gears of War and Lost Planet. Both third person. Both released around the same time.

I really hope at least one of you were trying to be funny. With the emphasis on 'trying'.

I don't know where I mentioned Dead Rising anywhere. I have that game as well an enjoyed it immensely. There really isn't much comparison between the DR and LP since they are so different. Plus the topic is about Lost planet which is what I was referring to in my first post.

I was talking about Gears. In the US gears came out nov 06 and LP was Jan 07. I think you got the dates backwards. Since it was so soon after the much hyped Gears it received a lot of unfair comparisons even though they are quite different in style.

Gah, this game was my greatest regret as a purchase this year. Avoid.

I never played that game so is really that bad?,I was too busy playing Dead rising but I wanted to play LP too.

Then I assume you didn't buy two worlds.....

Frustrating boss battles. With some you'll be winning then they''ll pull out an uber attack that strips 2/3 of your health. You get knocked over all the time and it takes far too long to get up again - sometimes just in time to get knocked over again, and again.

The enemy have glowing weak spots you have to shoot at, circa gameplay 1980's.

The plot is a mess, but admittedly it is a Japanese game so you walk in knowing that.

Cool concept. Very pretty explosions. Some poor design choices however and gameplay that is plain horrible make this game a stinking turd.

nah it isn't as bad as people are making it to be.

The game is good not great. I have it and beat it. Multiplayer is ok. Graphics were great and creature animations rocked. Im just pissed because this game has "Only on Xbox360" right on the front! Whats up with that Microsoft???

That's too bad. I'd much rather they spent their time working on a new game or porting over something a bit more interesting like Dead Rising with better graphics (It worked for the 360 when they were in the doldrums).

I just found this game to be totally uninteresting. Yes I shot things, but it wasn't that fun.

Then again I felt much the same way about Gears of War, so maybe I'm not the audience they should be pandering to.

That is one crappy controller to be playing ANY game on... fighting, racing, platforming, shooters (especially), sports, etc. etc. Get with the new century, no rumble?!?! Pathetic.
