Just finished playing the 5 songs. (played The Metal twice) :-)

The ISO worked great. It loaded really slow, but I can live with that.

Has it occurred to anyone that someone released this to avoid the disastrous MS certification process? Like a backdoor to the consumer to show the product when a bureaucracy makes you jump through too many hurdles?

Yeah, this definitely can't be used for hacking. There was some glitch related to it that I think allowed you to run flash based apps if I remember right, but it was fixed.

Everyone on my friends list has been asking me today. How are you playing the GHIII demo? I don't see it for download. How did you get it? I respond, because i'm special lol.

After playing Rock Band, the difference in quality of writing, character design and animation, and overall style is painfully noticeable. Harmonix has Neversoft beat in the presentation department.

That said, Neversoft did a pretty good job of picking up one of gaming's biggest franchises from scratch and trying to add their own twist to it. It's not as good as Guitar Hero 2 in terms of note charts or song selection (note: better songs to listen to does NOT mean better songs to play), and I really don't like the expanded hopo window, but there are some great improvements - menu load times are nonexistent and the interface is very slick, altogether.

Still, why do we need a note combo counter onscreen? Why do I need to be informed when I get 50, 100, 500 notes in a row? After a while you stop patting yourself on the back for these things.

It's not a bad game, and for the non-hardcore Guitar Hero player I'm sure most people will have a good time with it, but it lacks a generalized polish and fine-tuned gameplay that really comes to light when you start to master a great rhythm game.

All right everyone! When I call you name, you will say "Here", which will be short for "Here I am, Rock you like a hurrican"

You will do as the Scorpions before you!

Someone at work told me about this before it showed up in my RSS feeds. I downloaded the demo, burned it to a DVD, and it worked. I haven't had time to screw around with it, but i wonder if you can browse the content of that DVD on your PC. If so, can you add new songs to it? There are some pretty kick ass tracks for Frets on Fire.

And yeah, i hope i don't get banned for this. That would suck.
