One headline, two reliable British sites. Read: "Okami confirmed for Wii." Following the Capcom Gamer's Day event in London yesterday and a subsequent resurgence of the Okami Wii rumor, comes frank -- and frankly bare -- confirmation from Eurogamer and MCV of the long-anticipated port. Capcom apparently announced Okami for Wii to the Gamer's Day audience, adding that the release is expected by next spring. We're anticipating more details tomorrow, as Capcom has hinted at additional announcements planned for Friday.

Then again, it's not TRYING to have games that are good from a traditional perspective, which is making it sell like gangbusters currently, but with a horrible attach rate. It will be interesting to see how that plays out.
NEXT.
From a plainly technical position, I suppose this means I don't have to buy a ps2.

As much as I love Okami, Wii fans should be more excited about getting Monster Hunter 3, since it's actually, you know, /new/.
It's a "last-gen" console losing exclusivity of a game that got high reviews from critics, but had relativity poor sales. Awesome for Wii since people want the game, but to say its "a blow to the PS2" is dumb. Was anyone really going to get a PS2 solely for Okami this late in the game? Wouldn't they have gotten it already? There's nothing else on the system they were considering?
It's a different situation that MH3, since that was a "current-gen" game that got moved to the Wii. That was actually a hit to the PS3, that's a very popular franchise in Japan. Less so in the 'States.
You can thank Sony fanboys and their absolute lack of good taste in games for that.
Samfish. I don't think anyone's taste in games was related to Okami's poor sales (or their console choice). It wasn't advertised at all, got a few little blips in magazines and really just kind of rolled off the radar when it was released. I had trouble finding it in stores and ended up ordering online. But I already wanted it.
If you don't see it, you won't look into the reviews and won't hear about how great it is. So you won't buy it. There are plenty of non-casual gamers out there that don't live on game news like I do (and probably you do to, since you leave plenty of comments) that would have loved Okami, if they knew about it before.
The Wii isn't built for regular games, it's built and, by Nintendo's admission, intended for the 'kiddie' games. Casual, just for fun, everyone wins kinds of games and maybe it will pick up more than a couple (TP, MP3) serious titles. Mario Galaxy, regardless of how much anyone of any age likes it, is made to be kid friendly. Nothing wrong with that. Hell, I think Sly Cooper 2 is one of the best PS2 games available, and it's definitely kid friendly.
To put it in goofy comics terms. The Wii is like the bizarro PS2. It's flipped. Also the white/black thing makes it a fun comparison. They are similar, but opposite.
Please define what a "mature" game is. Trust me, its not blowing off a hookers head with a shotgun that has N64 graphics.
If you are talking about traditional games, every time Nintendo releases a casual game they also release a traditional one. In fact I think the last time I counted there are more "hardcore" games than "traditional" games.
Sounds to me like someone needs a case of grow the fuck up.
It amazes me to this day how people can still not wrap their head around that business plan.
I'm definitely enjoying some of the Wiimakes of older games, especially when they get upgraded in the graphics and control departments. I didn't have any consoles last gen, when I fell into a StarCraft addiction for several years.

Although I don't know much about the series I look forward to hearing and seeing more about the game...
I wonder if they'll improve the graphics or anything?

"I only hope they add more to Okami. A straight port is nice and all, it's just that Okami felt too short to me."
This is you:
"Am I the only one who didn't really actually like Okami? It was fun in the begining, but it ended up just dragging on."
He says it was too short. You say it dragged on too long. I think my mind just got blown!
I also liked the way it kept going on and on. When I first beat Orochi, I figured, "This is the end of the game...how sad"
Then unfolded the story even more and you defeat...the next big boss and think, "OK, now this is the end"
And then it turns out that there's STILL more of the game to play before you beat it!
That was easily the most pleasant surprise of Okami to me.
