Maybe next year I'd get one. It'll have to be the 80 gig though because I want backward compatibility.

Eventually I really would like to get a PS3, but it's not really motivating right now that there aren't many good games for it. $400 is still a bit much so I don't think we'll be getting one any time soon. The compatibility issue isn't a total turn off, but it seems kind of silly that I'll have to still have the PS2 (which, arguably, I'd probably still use more often) out as well :/

Happy Days!

Great Value!

Great Price!

Great games! I'm happy with Resistance Fall of Man; great launch title. Warhawk is phenomenal! Tekken Dark Resurrection HD is amazing and that 3.00 ski game is on point; friggin awesome to pay 3.00 for a game with that kind of quality. Calling all cars is good fun too!

Happy Days!

I forgot to mention Heavenly Sword too! And Ratchet and Clank are around the corner.

Resistance Fall of Man (40 player multi-player online)
Heavenly Sword (Great hack n slash)
Warhawk (32 player multi-player online)
Tekken Dark Ressurection HD (nothing out there can touch this until Tekken 6 comes)
Ratchet and Clank - Another title that has NO competition out there (Graphics combined with quality of play)
Eye of Judgment - Nothing out there like it! Sony is breaking new ground!
Gran Tursismo HD (free) and Grand Turismo 5 in December

40GB PS3 @ 399.00 = BANGIN HOLIDAY SEASON FOR EVERYONE!

Hey Al, where's your buddy Jessie at? The rest of 2007 and all of 2008 and beyond are looking pretty rosy for us PS3 owners.
Ahhhhh, good times Reverand...good times indeed.

You PS3 boys really crack me up!!! I don't know, I just don't find any interest in the games you listed, or anything that the ps3 has to offer. Yea, it's got a few good exclusives coming out, but nothing to justify the purchase.

However........if they were making a ps3 version of Manhunt....I would probably find a way to come up with 400 bucks to try that game out. Yea...it's not mgs4 or ff whatever....but I love those dark, twisted, gory games!!!

And correct me if I'm wrong, but to find a friend online in the playstation network, do you really have to be in the system's main menu??? I heard that you either have to be in the systems main menu (dashboard) or you have to have the same game loaded as your friends??? That's pretty dumb if it's true...

Just because you are too bias to accept that they are great games does not mean that they aren't.

I am not interested In Halo 3, Mass Effect, or any of those others so does that make them bad games?

This logic of "hahaha those dont interest me!" is utter shit, people ARE interested, who cares about bias fanboys opinions of them that translates to nothing.

The fact that you would rather have Manhunt than Rachet and Clank, MGS4, FFXIII, Killzone 2, LBP, HAZE, Unreal Tournament or any of those others just discounts your comment completely.

I don't want any ps3 games, nor do I want any Blu-Ray films (all good ones are on dvd, maybe a couple on HD-DVD, but generally Hi-Def is an arena or watch-once popcorn-fests), but I think this is a sensible move for Sony to make, yes, most people have a ps2 (I don't though) so it's not much of a loss for most.

I'm on lunch break, guy. And you didn't get banned for trolling or being pro-ps3, you got banned for offensive comments like "Fernando's grasp of the Engrish rangwage".

At least when I troll, I make a decent point along with it. All you do is annoy.

Good news that Sony is dropping prices. Still not the greatest deal for gaming, but a step in the right direction.

What irks me is that MS is not being as aggressive with their pricing. What used to be a $200 price difference has slipped to a mere $50. Granted the 360 still offeres a better gaming experience, but 2 years on the market and only a $50 price drop is pretty ridiculous...

The 360 (premium) should be at $300.

Still no word on what's happening to the 60 gig? That's kind of the most important part of this whole story to me.

I wonder if the 40gb will flop here like it has in Europe. I have a feeling it will. And maybe, eventually, Sony will learn.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to give one hearty slap to everyone who believed Sony when they said they wouldn't drop the price on the 80gb.

http://www.ebgames.com/productmerch.asp?groupid=635

Eb has their own prices :)

And are you people forgetting that the BC on the 80gb is BORKED and a lot of popular games have problems....

http://www.us.playstation.com/Support/CompatibleStatus

stick in God of war and you'll see neither game runs perfect, also Final Fantasy and Resident Evil......just put in those words and you'll see every game with sequels

BC is screwy in 80gb!!!!!!! so they said why bother....it's not working anyway

but the 60gb while you can folks!

I was going to consider a PS3 purchase this holiday season, after the price drop I kept hearing about. But 400 with no BC is not a price drop. It's an increase, and with the mega library of 65 games I am going to have to pass.

Maybe if next year Sony pulls their heads out of their asses and puts in FULL BC at a sub 400 dollar range I may consider it, but only because of FFXIII and MGS4. If either of those titles goes multi-platform I will never even consider it.

Is Sony really this out of touch? It seems they have just made our extremely stupid mistake after another for 2 years now.

So I can spend $399 on a PS3 with no BC, inferior ports, the ‘blue rays’ and exclusive games that are shorter then sex at Steve Urkel’s house…. Or I can get a x360 with BC for the top Xbox games, better cross-platform games and a better over-all game library?
Bioshock, Mass Effect and Halo3 are all the reasons that someone needs to get a XBox360.
But for a new PS3 owned, after the afternoon it takes to complete Heavenly Sword, will need to turn to old PS2 games for something to do.

All you need to know:
Xbox 360/no BC: $279
PS3/no BC: $399

Xbox 360/BC: $349
PS3/BC: $499

Resistance Fall of Man < Gears Of War
Warhawk < Halo 3
Folklore < Mass Effect

So, you're saying that if you don't plan to buy any of the FPS you named there's no reason to get a 360? And your comparisons of games makes no sense. GOW is a third person action game, like Tomb Raider, where R:FoM is a FPS. Halo 3 is a FPS being compared to an online only game. Mass Effect is more along the lines of KOTOR.

I'll make this simple for those who do not understand. The 360 has been out longer thus it has an established footing, especially with developers. Because of this it has the most exclusives. It is a powerful system and has great games at this time. It is highly recognized to be an unstable and unreliable piece of crap. Facts and Figures say this.... The PS3 is still fresh out of the gates, developers need alot of time to work into production with the PS3, Sony never seems to make it easy for them. The hardware is superior in many ways. It can be classified as a supercomputer. It's OS is designed to be freely occupied and may run OS such as LINUX. Amazing that Sony has done this, few at the time have taken advantage. We have seen "Folding at Home" cancer research contributions from the PS3 overshadow those of the fabled supercomputers that were in use, the Microsoft PC's and MAC's contributions were shadowed. Now the system is being used to calculate stellar star system and interplanetary data. Now realize the power and reliability that is here, developers know this but it will take a little time. 360 is 50% to 75% to it's maximum potential at this time. PS3 is probably in the area of 10%. Last but not least, remember both Sony and Microsoft are a business and both make decisions based on money. They are not your friend. They both have great systems just one costs less and breaks more the other costs more and currently has less games but a brighter future. It's your call. If you wonder if I'm a PS3 fanboy, the truth is I have both systems and like them both for the different reasons stated above. Now if you don't have both and just want to have a console war you should shut the hell up.
