Finally, someone from Microsoft has acknowledged the Xbox 360 Arcade console: "Arcade becomes [for us] the ability to bring in a new set of audiences. They're probably a little bit more casually focused, they're looking for a new family experience or they're more price focused," Robbie Bach told Financial Times, marking Microsoft's first public comments about the new SKU. The FT report also suggests a $279 price tag, but fails to relate sound information about the included "games" (or are they demos?) and an official street date -- maybe that's because Xbox 360 Arcade has already arrived.
When asked for comment, a Microsoft rep fed us the old: "We have nothing to announce at this time. Thanks!" What's the deal?

I thought Microsoft was finally starting to break even right before the 360 was released?

ya know...I just don't remember this much whining when the PS2 had issues....
I have two friends that had to replace their PS2's a couple of times.....
And on a side note....about the HDD...how many of us got the HDD for the PS2?? Did we really need it?? And what was the cost of that bad boy...100.00 ....where was the outrage and outcry then......hmmmmm how quickly we forget...

279 is too high a price. They should've placed it at the price of the Wii if the really wanted casual gamers!!

They probably don't want to sing any songs about it since there are a ton of those silly Halo 'themed' Xboxi out there. AND they have the core systems to sell through. I guess they don't want to draw the attention away from their disco'd skus...until they are gone.
Hense, the lame non-announcement.

Oh wow, they hadn't done the official announcement yet? Wow... that's kinda slow, they had a display up at radio shack on Saturday.

I was just told at Best Buy, you cannot play Halo 3 without a hard
drive. Is this true? He said that even the 512Mg Ram chip is not big
enough.
