Chicken in the bread pin, pickin' out dough.
Foggy Bottoms @ Oct 19th 2007 9:01PM
they absolutely butchered it. next they'll port country as hard rock too. terrible.
jynxycat @ Oct 20th 2007 10:38PM
Butchered ?
Do you even know what the original sounds like ? It's all fiddle, and no guitar.
How could they even put the original in the game -_-

make sure you completely understand something before you decide to refute it.
the fiddle version is much better. the gh3 rock version is a BUTCHERED version of the original. they shouldn't have tried to use a song that was meant to be played with a fiddle and sounds perfect played with a fiddle. next they'll try to use twangy country music as hard rock too, which implies quite obviously that it wouldn't work and would sound like shit too. i'm not saying they should have used the original, i'm saying they shouldn't have tried to use it at all. but nice job buddy.
Donald @ Oct 19th 2007 4:19PM
That was one of the last songs I would've picked to be the end boss.
Then again, the one I would pick would have me lynched as nobody would be able to beat the game (hi2u Dragonforce).
kennethrios @ Oct 19th 2007 4:41PM
Such a deal, I would not. How else I escape my enemies? My ink pouch? (squirt) Woopwoopwoopwoop!
Also, Meaf Loaf would be rad.
kennethrios @ Oct 19th 2007 4:42PM
Oy, this is in the wrong place!
kennethrios @ Oct 19th 2007 4:21PM
It is fitting, that fiery b*tch can fiddle like two million times better than Zoidberg Jesus.
T3H WICKERMAN (FDF) @ Oct 19th 2007 4:23PM
How about a nice new pair of robot devil hands in exchange for those cthulu claws zoid? ;) Just sign on the dotted line.... On topic i would love to see (prepare to groan) Meat Loafs Bat out of hell. (yes old bob bitch tits himself)

Dave Silva @ Oct 19th 2007 4:21PM
Meh. I want Freebird again.
CountChocula @ Oct 19th 2007 4:26PM
This definitely sounds like it'd be tougher than the Dragonforce song. It's a pretty good cover, all told, but man nothing can compare with the original... this coming from a death/speed/power/heavy metal freak.
LaughingTarget @ Oct 19th 2007 4:33PM
It doesn't sound faster than Though the Fire and the Flames, though it is quick.
Crono (NDF - Knight of the Old School) @ Oct 19th 2007 4:45PM
Not to mention Through the Fire and Flames is like a 10 minute song.
CountChocula @ Oct 19th 2007 4:53PM
Oh, it's definitely tougher, because anyone cool would hold the guitar like a really big fiddle while playing this.
LaughingTarget @ Oct 19th 2007 7:33PM
The problem with that is now they can't make a decent Fiddle Hero because they used this song already.
stu @ Oct 19th 2007 4:29PM
SRV's version of Little Wing... that might kill some folks...
big brekfest @ Oct 19th 2007 4:33PM
that fretwork bears the mark of the Buckethead.
ukickmydog (NDF - Earth) @ Oct 19th 2007 6:54PM
yea, too bad they didn't put any of his songs on here
Vegnagun @ Oct 19th 2007 7:52PM
Stfu. I hate people who heard Jordan in GHII and think that Buckethead is the greatest thing to happen to music ever.
So it's quickly played guitar? That's Buckethead? Anyone can play guitar fast. Buckethead doesn't play like that at all he uses wah-wah and distortion pedals coupled with a wammy bar and differently tuned guitar to play his music.
ukickmydog (NDF - Earth) @ Oct 19th 2007 8:29PM
i have his discography +D
big brekfest @ Oct 20th 2007 1:51AM
yeah... what I meant was, the tone and note choices are similar to Buckethead's style. I'm a big buckethead fan. have been since i saw him with Primus WAAAAAYYYYY back. He's not the end-all of rock guitarists, sure. but fuck, let's not get worked up because I point out some similarities, champ. I wasn't insulting the song, the guitar player, you or your mother.
horngreen @ Oct 19th 2007 4:52PM
Everyone knows the devil actually should have won in the original version. And since there was nobody to "judge" the competition in the original why did the devel admit he had lost? He's the devil why would he be honest about it. Just tell that little redneck he lost and rob him of his soul, you are the devil after all. Maybe I'm taking it to seriously?
Bertie242 @ Oct 21st 2007 2:07PM
Half the devil's solo WASN'T FIDDLING. He didn't even play for the good part of it - it was just bass. He played about 10 seconds of garbage - if you heard the fiddle part by itself, you'd agree.
On a related note, this cover sucks, I'm sorry. It's nothing like the original, and isn't even remotely related to Bluegrass.
Johniel Marrero @ Oct 19th 2007 4:52PM
Really... really... rockin'
Falth @ Oct 19th 2007 4:59PM
It'd be nice if this were noted as a spoiler. I know it's not a conventional story spoiler, but they made it the last song for a reason.
I wish every iota of upcoming games weren't splayed out in the headlines (ie, Mass Effect and Assassin's Creed twist), so as to leave a little bit of discovery in games.
melloncollie @ Oct 19th 2007 5:09PM
So, who else is excited that Cherub Rock is on there?
I know I am.
DeadPlasmaCell @ Oct 19th 2007 5:14PM
My wife is, she adores (hah) SP.
Sean @ Oct 19th 2007 5:19PM
Mhmm.
NATO_Duke @ Oct 19th 2007 5:13PM
So, I wasted time wiring a controller to my fiddle is what they are saying. Damn it!
DeadPlasmaCell @ Oct 19th 2007 5:14PM
Damn so no Dueling Banjos yet huh?? :/
Ludwig Kietzmann @ Oct 19th 2007 6:09PM
"You shot my banjo!"
LaughingTarget @ Oct 20th 2007 8:26AM
"Uh, no, the shot came from the grassy knoll!"
Sean @ Oct 19th 2007 5:17PM
This sounds like it will be fun.
Neebs @ Oct 19th 2007 5:19PM
Sounds alright, but they metal-fied it too hard...
Gavin @ Oct 19th 2007 5:25PM
The guitar work on "Devil Went Down To Georgia" is sweet but the lead singer is just plain awful.
WTW @ Oct 19th 2007 5:42PM
That was absolute crap. I'm pretty sure that's the worst song ever produced. "As made famous by" my ass. "As butchered by a mediocre piece of garbage pseudo-metal band" is a bit more accurate. If there weren't so many other really good "master tracks" in this game I wouldn't touch it just because of that swill.
GH3 just sh*t the bed!
bounchfx @ Oct 19th 2007 5:50PM
this is fucking amazing. can't wait
Santo @ Oct 19th 2007 6:03PM
Rock Band has some gems, but I'd say this overall track list beats the hell out of that one. Now if only they were all Master Tracks...
POOLSCLOSED @ Oct 19th 2007 6:03PM
Bah, doesn't sound climatic AT ALL.
Shagittarius @ Oct 19th 2007 6:15PM
I have heard way better metal versions of that song, too many effects, too many gay guitar parts in this version.
Langretz @ Oct 19th 2007 6:44PM
No Stairway?
el @ Oct 20th 2007 12:05PM
... Denied
Xanto @ Oct 19th 2007 6:53PM
I just tried out the demo of GH III today, I was totally unprepared for The Metal on expert and failed it, the triple chord section caught me off guard, on a related note I think this sounds alright.
blooh (TIDF - Nipple Ring) @ Oct 19th 2007 6:59PM
should've been a southern voice, though the guitar work was aite
the primus version is better
Ryan Hamilton @ Oct 19th 2007 7:08PM
Raining Blood! The end of that track is utterly insane! There was a backwards message on reign in blood. That kept repeating JOIN US JOIN US JOIN US hehe creepy.
LiqwidZero @ Oct 19th 2007 7:19PM
Jeez... this kid bastardized this awesome song. It should've been Charlie Daniels singing it.
tom @ Oct 19th 2007 8:31PM
Sounds cool.
Paul @ Oct 19th 2007 9:09PM
I'm eager to play this track. Not just because I like the song, but because I know how they'll set it up. They've been talking about duels as their big feature for GHIII. And they've also got to top Stonehenge for the final venue.
Playing this song against the Devil in hell would be a bit of one-upsmanship.
