After two critically-acclaimed titles on the handheld, the
Castlevania series will try for a hat trick with a third Nintendo DS title. Speaking to
Game|Life, series
creator producer Koji Igarashi said, "First, we're doing another Nintendo DS version. There hasn't been an official announcement, but we're doing it." Igarashi added that they are currently focusing on
Dracula X Chronicles for the PSP.
Igarashi also discussed the live-action
Castlevania movie, the director of which has been picked but not officially announced, and the strange appearance of meat whenever you destroy a candle in-game. "The meat, I have no idea," said Igarashi, although we suspect he just doesn't want to spoil another unofficial announcement yet.

sadly, I REALLY DOUBT they will try another kind of gameplay (I would love that tho), remember the Castlevania game for 64? I LOVED the game, it had one of the greatest difficulties EVER, but guess what, it didn't sell, and it wasn't even that critically acclaimed as other titles....
The game was good, I did like it a lot, and the difficulty was also challenging (DMC3 in Dante Must Die mode, I beat it, I haven't beaten Castlevania on hard more yet...), also, the fact that it was 3D added a lot more complexity to the game, like someone else said, you don't only get hit from the back or the front anymore, so you have to be more careful of your moves and such...

Way better than anything crapped out on the PS2.
If they make a 3d castlevania, they need to make it like the N64 games. I picked up those games recently, and they're alot better than we gave them credit for at the time.
I would also like to see them do a new art style for the game. I want a more Gothic looking Castlevania, rather than the anime style they are going for in recent games.

In fact, you don't even need to add any motion controls. Just support hardcore gaming on the Wii.

I sometimes can't believe Igarashi is so hung up over how to make a Castlevania game work on the Wii, judging by comments he's made in the past.

Even the director and producer of SotN doesn't get as much credit as this guy.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed both Sorrow games and will be getting a PSP Lite for Dracula X Chronicles, but I hope people would stop calling him the series creator. It is too much credit for a guy who keeps producing churning out horrible console Castlevanias.
This series could do really great things if it stopped riding SotN's coattails for a few games.
Yes, I am looking forward to Dracula X: Chronicles.
And yet, the thought of a Wii Castlevania scares me like a stake in the heart (too silly?). The novelty of motion controls has worn off enough, hasn't it? No one seriously thinks making a whipping motion or just flailing around all the time is fun, do they? Do you? Secondly, they're going to feel pressured to make it 3D again. Of course it's possible for it to be fun, it's just not likely, or even the Castlevania anyone really wants.

Type in castlevania in gamerankings and find the lowest ranked ones. They're all 3d, gee, who would have thought.
You'd think the SotN remake on XBox 360 coming in at the 8th highest ranked game on Xbox 360 would give some sort of hint to Konami that maybe people still like 2d on consoles. Here's hoping.

ACTUALLY reading the articles one reports on is fun :)

The one and only place I'll agree with IGA is that whipping motions with the Wii-mote could end up being overly complex.
And let's face it; Castlevania hasn't exactly been known for perfect 3D controls under this guy. I'd gladly stick with a Gamecube controller, or the Classic Controller at the very least.
