Eight years of games on The Daily Show
Now that Viacom has decided to post the full archives of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart online, we thought it was a good opportunity to look back at the many game-related stories and conversations covered in the eight years since Stewart took over the satirical news show. Read on for a trip down memory lane that includes Pac-Man, Grand Theft Auto and a much younger-looking Stewart (just look at that hair! It's huge!).Nov. 8, 1999

Maybe it's just me, but looking back The Daily Show is .much. better now than it was in its infancy
Rubang B (NDF - Heart) @ Oct 22nd 2007 8:43PM
Yeah I think the show got better every year.

"Maybe it's just me, but looking back The Daily Show is .much. better now than it was in its infancy."
You do know that Jon Stewart isn't the first Daily Show host. Craig Kilborn was the host for about two and a half years. While I do admit that the Daily Show still makes me laugh, nowadays it's too political. Don't get me wrong my views lean towards the left, but I feel like Stewart can be kind of obnoxious. But the ladies love him.
And also "Five Questions" was a great segment.
Rubang B (NDF - Heart) @ Oct 23rd 2007 1:49AM
I don't think Craig Kilborn's made me laugh once in my life. How's his book coming along?
The Boo @ Oct 23rd 2007 9:59AM
The Daily Show was nothing until Jon showed up. Craig sux!
PyrosNine @ Oct 22nd 2007 8:33PM
You forgot the one reference, where Lewis Black is talking about the Olympics, and how they wanted to hold it in Japan. He comments.
"Unless they can get sonic the hedgehog on the 100 meter dash..."
and I can't remember the rest of what he said, but I remember it strongly, and having to point out what he meant to my grandparents and dad, who were eagerly awaiting the next olympics.
JanJan @ Oct 22nd 2007 8:59PM
Lewis Black Called It!
DBuck_Eye @ Oct 22nd 2007 8:40PM
You missed the Back in Black with State of Emergency and San Andreas.
Squeek @ Oct 22nd 2007 8:48PM
One of the best Lewis Black skits is missing. When Grand Theft Auto III had just come out, he did a story on it.
It was hilarious.
DarkTetsuya @ Oct 22nd 2007 8:57PM
I nominate John's response about a minute into the 6/26/06 episode as the best thing he's ever said, *ever*.
superberg @ Oct 22nd 2007 9:00PM
Clips are great. Unfortunately, my computer doesn't have 6 TB of RAM and a 9GHz Core4-Quatro, so having 14 flash videos plus ads on one page kind of doesn't work smoothly for me.
I wholeheartedly endorse this article. I just wish you'd embedded one or two videos and linked to the rest.

"You win THIS round, videogames!"
Mr Slavio @ Oct 22nd 2007 9:59PM
I am totally slow dancing the crap out of you.
Myke @ Oct 22nd 2007 10:07PM
OMG! Thats awesome, it's time to go digging. But I think you guys forgot one, and I can't seem to find it myself either. It's an episode where they're talking about Afghanistan and they use ALL videogame clips to show what the "war" looks like. One memorable one was a clip from Doom 2 where the player is being attacked by an imp and the reporter(I think it's stephen colbert) says something along the lines of "these are what are known as the Elite Guard, who apparently have the ability to throw fire from their hands..."
locke @ Oct 22nd 2007 10:35PM
Jon sucks...hes not even funny at all...he laughs at his own jokes and gets very annoying..
Colbert for president!
Vegeta (aka Ska Oreo) @ Oct 22nd 2007 10:43PM
Shush. Shush the fudge up you goon.
gonk @ Oct 23rd 2007 12:00AM
comedy gold!
Stephen Colbert @ Oct 23rd 2007 12:09AM
I could not agree more.
Jon Stewart is a hack. YOU HEARD ME RIGHT JON. Hmph...Jon. It's not even spelled right.
Thank you for your support. I posted here to announce that I am very close to reaching a decision on when I will be announcing whether or not I have decided to run for the presidency.
Stay strong America!
gonk @ Oct 23rd 2007 2:00AM
nice try, PORTOPHILLY
Sidepocket @ Oct 23rd 2007 2:22AM
Without John Stewart, there would be no Colbert. PWND!
ThornedVenom @ Oct 23rd 2007 4:42AM
What I hate with people using celebrity names as usernames and such is that you're never sure if it's really them or not. Sure, it's more than fucking probable that it's not them, but the human instinct always makes you wonder "what if"... -_-
XxGrendelxX @ Oct 22nd 2007 10:37PM
I cant believe they left out this one....its the first thing I thought of when I read the headline.

Anyone else think that young Jon Stewart looked loke John Linnell?
Rubang B (NDF - Heart) @ Oct 23rd 2007 1:51AM
Hahhahaha I can kinda see it. Kinda. But it still made me laugh.
samfish (MSDF- Nurse Outfit!) @ Oct 23rd 2007 1:58AM

'It's thinking'.
Oh, so that's why the Dreamcast failed.
idioteraser @ Oct 23rd 2007 6:49AM
Ah the five questions. Love the video clips they had of this movie where people had their guts ripped out. Weird ass movie called the "The Story of Riki-Oh"
Had to love when they were elimanting the five questions and Gillian Anderson was on and replied to the question "what do you prefer anal probe or chip implant?" She chose anal probe.
It's a hoot also to watch the Daily Show if you know the real identify of the guy who plays Aasif Mandvi. It's like he is doing penance or something.
Sean @ Oct 23rd 2007 12:31PM
Awesome post.
dantheman @ Oct 23rd 2007 1:42PM
Holy crap.
February 11, 2004 Daily Show had my current professor of epistemology on. Robert Ludlow, that's awesome.
Keldroc @ Oct 24th 2007 6:33PM
Where's the clip from the 2004 live election night coverage where they came back to Colbert playing Halo on the big screen next to Stewart? That was one of their best.
Vincent060 @ Oct 26th 2007 6:50PM
I think that was Rob Cordry that was playing Halo. Still funny though.
playlikemike @ Oct 25th 2007 8:56AM
This list is missing the interview with the Rock when John Stewart gets all giddy over the fact that The Rock is in the Doom movie. He saying something like, "Do you get to shoot the BFG!!?!? Tell me you get the shoot the BFG!!"
