New games this week: Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction edition

It's a good week for PlayStation 3 owners, especially the new ones. You may have been a little disheartened as you looked for something awesome that only your shiny new PS3 can handle, and, if a few early reviews are any indication, Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction may just be that game. There's good news elsewhere too, with Xbox 360 getting Ace Combat 6 and the Wii is receiving what we suspect might be a hidden gem with Zack and Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure. Oh, and portable treats on the PSP with Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles and a new Phoenix Wright on the DS. Check all the new releases after the break.

Lets see Joystiq does a games edition for Heavenly Sword (which is a joke of a game) and R&C but they neglect to do it for Halo 3...

Halo 3 did get it's day in the sun with the 300+ topics they ran on it. And then they did the games of the week and jokingly threw up Bratz but did a followup story on Halo 3 launches.

Heavenly Sword is a good game who's major flaw is that it's too short. Seriously, read reviews.

Drake and Mario don't ship on the same week.

Technically, Joystiq could really put a fire under your ass and do Eye of Judgment this week and R&C next week under it's "official" release date.

Thanks for clearing up that Mario/Uncharted shipping date. I thought they were coming out around the same time...

Halo had its "day" when Joystiq chose to make a big deal about the graphics (although anyone with half a brain knows the beauty of Halo isn't even remotely connected with the graphics).

And I stand by original opinion. If Mario and Uncharted were coming out the same week I'd bet 1 million dollars that they'd do "New gmes this week: Uncharted: Drake's Fortune EditioN" or some other foolery...

But hey it is their website so I understand their tendencies to favor one side over the other.

CaptainAmericaX - Halo 3 did get it listing under the article on games shipping that week. Just because you are bitter about something and forgot, doesn't mean that the article wasn't there.

damn CaptainAmerciaX, who lit your tampon on fire? i have not seen a game on this site get as much attention as Halo gets. and as a person that doesnt like Xbox or Halo, it can get pretty annoying. but at the same time there is no denying that Halo is a juggernaut of the sales chart. when it comes out, basically everyone but me buys it. and your mad because Halo 3 wasnt the featured game of the week when it came out. it was the featured game of the year for crying out loud!

and you get upset like it really makes a difference that R&C is the featured game and now it is magically going to outsell Halo 3 now. im going to buy R&C but i dont it has the prowess to move all that many consoles. let somebody else be in the limelight for once please, we Sony fans need this one lol.

Ratchet and Clank will be a fine game, but there still isn't anything to warrant a purchase of a PS3 for me.

I keep getting curiouser and curiouser of this Zack and Wiki game though.

Same here. Also Zack and Wiki has been getting pretty good reviews (GI gave it a 8.75 I believe).

A third on Zack & Wiki, it has an element of point and click about it, which is always a win for me.

I'll be getting Zack and Wiki. It's a third-party Wii game that isn't shovelware or a minigame collection, and it makes good use of motion controls. Plus point-and-click adventure games don't come around often enough these days.

Clive Barker's Jericho looks like a good game. I want to see the reviews and might just buy it. Or maybe not. The problem is that too many good games are coming out in the following months and I'm stil to finish Orange Box. These are great times to be a gamer in deed. Well at least if your playing on the Xbox 360 that is.

jericho and orange box are multi-platform so i fail to see why its only good to be a 360 gamer... unless your one of those delusional tools that think thats the only console that exists. but you wouldn't be one of those would you?

Yeah, the Xbox has been getting so many great titles recently, and still more to come. I may finally have to pick up a 360, crappy hardware or not.

To the above reply, yes, other consoles exist, but the 360 has been getting all its best exclusives just recently, with more coming soon. The Wii has their main franchises coming out soon, too. May have to pick up a Wii, too. PS3, well, PS3 can wait. I still have games to finish on my PS2, and there isn't anything exclusive that I want on PS3 yet.

Orange box may also be available for PC, but not everyone has a gaming PC. and since the PS3 version is not out yet, it may as well be a timed console exclusive.

"not everyone has a gaming pc" well guess what, not everyone has an xbox 360 either bud, so that has nothing to do with the fact that the game is multi-platform. yeah the ps3 version isnt out yet but im sure those who want it and have a ps3 can wait a little bit instead of running out and buying an xbox.

Ratchet and Clank, Jericho, Conan and Ace Combat. I am so going to have to sleep on the sofa after buying all of these games. At least Orange Box, Halo 3 and Biochock were spread out.

Finally, some Castlevania love for PSP owners. Ratchet and Clank looks good too.

I was considering Jericho (I honestly forgot when it was even coming out) but with GHIII next week, and like 10zillion things next month, I might have to pass. Ah well, I haven't even touched Forge so Halo will keep me busy for at least another week.

I'm picking up Eye of Judgment mostly for the camera. But if the card game is fun, then that is just a bonus.

So far, only Amazon has delayed it. I suspect they didn't order enough supply to release it tomorrow, so they had to delay it.

No other retailer has delayed it past October 23.

Since Guitar Hero 3 is released Sunday, doesn't that mean it's released this week or does Sunday not count till next weeks listing?

That game is second on my list of purchases this week right behidn R&C... but I am looking foward to R&C more.

Castlevania is the support I need to buy a PSP. I wasn't going to get one JUST for Mega Man Powered Up.

Zack & Wiki is the big dog this week. Everyone should push that game to as many people as you can. Tell your friends, family, and well-wishers. Don't let this title fall into obscurity like so many lost gems of the past.

I suspect it will be outsold by WiiPlay 75 to 1.. just watch. Maybe it would have mad a chance if they named it Super Mario, Zak and Wiki do Puzzle Games.

Yes, I did. What was it that the Sony supporters on this site have been saying as of late? Oh yeah! "Just because a game has more hype or sells more doesn't make it a good game."

I'd like to back you on this but seriously, I have no clue about the game. Everything I've seen makes it look not so much for me. So I'll look over the reviews and decide if I rent or not. But very few people know what the hell this game is (I heard an EBgames person say it was minigames).

I mean, it may be a big dog, but it's making a yipping noise.

Huzzah, I've already paid for my Zack & Wiki. I've loved point & click adventures since the old Sierra Quest games.

Yay, Ratchet and Clank. Finally a big name on the PS3. Keep it coming.
