Please stop posting this on joystiq. Leave it on its own page. Please.

seconded.
i don't get it, and i don't think it is a video game.
CodeBastard Redgrave @ Oct 22nd 2007 3:02PM
christ you guys, will you stop whining and go back playing Mario or whatever lame kid toy your were playing with it? remember Joystiq is SecondLife Insider's mother site. so if you don't like SL, it's all good, if you don't like the news posted, look somewhere else, or STFU.
Word of the street(IDF-Digital Ruler). @ Oct 22nd 2007 3:07PM
What I read in your post is
"Second life rules and I'm better than you guys for playing it and if you don't like it you are gay".
Is that correct?
Too bad it does suck, people hate overrated games now think about what they are going to say about an overrated game that is also bad. For newbies there isn't a way to progress and it seems is all about people having virtualsecks and furry, In fact I believe Second life is just an extension of /b/ that or 4chan members and pedos really f*ed up the place.
CodeBastard Redgrave @ Oct 22nd 2007 4:05PM
no, i thought using a sarcastic overtone to diss other types of gaming would make you realize that SL is a gaming platform like any other else. i'm not the purist stating it's not a game and whining about SL news being posted in here. SL is indeed a general purpose application platform that contains games. and yes it is relevant to this blog. so live with it.
CaptNink @ Oct 22nd 2007 2:59PM
Yes; why are we being subjected to this?
gonk @ Oct 22nd 2007 2:59PM
no furry articles?

It doesn't matter whether you're a fan of Second Life or not.
The fact of the matter is that we don't need these "week in review" posts for the MANY sister sites that Joystiq has. If I want to catch up on all posts on Second Life Insider, or WOW Insider, or DSfanboy, or PSPfanboy, etc., I would GO READ THOSE BLOGS.
Posting all these headlines on Joystiq is just redundant, especially since the most recent headlines for several of the sister sites are already posted at the bottom of every page.
Now, I realize this has only started recently, and if it's just a one-time thing to raise awareness of of said sites, that's fine. I can understand that.
But, with all that being said, it's kind of a stupid non-issue anyways, because I don't have to read the posts if I don't want to, and it takes all of 0.7 seconds to scroll past them on the front page (especially with my revolution scroll wheel). :P

I don't agree with all the SL hate here, but I do agree with removing these Week In Review posts. We really don't need them on Joystiq. If you were interested in SL, WoW, DS, Wii, 360, PSP, or PS3, you'd already be reading the dedicated blogs. It's just redundant to post on Joystiq, unless it's a big newsbit (i.e. price changes, corporate shakeups, new game releases, etc.).

I'm looking at a lot of these comments and I'm seeing a lot of assumptions being made by people who clearly have not spent more than a couple hours bothering to understand what SL is about.
SL is not a conventional game - there are no levels, no quests to complete, no giant monsters to slay - HOWEVER - it is a platform from which people can create games if they wish.
A *great* example of this is the I Am Legend movie tie-in game Akela posted about in his last post, also covered *and considered a game* by IGN. http://blogs.ign.com/Indices/Blogs/Channels/ign/index/771901/
SL is a great platform for machinima - which is also something some gamers take part in.
Furthermore, a lot of the subjects discussed by this and the previous posting involve technological advances related to console gaming too! (See avatar control link via brainwaves - Akela's second to last link)
Seriously people... take off the blinders and make the effort to understand before you criticize something you dislike only because you're told to.
Sure, there is a lot of riffraff on the grid, but there are a lot of gems in the raw in Second Life too. If you take the time to search them out, I think you'll find that in itself far more rewarding than the next tough boss or that next elusive level-up.
Word of the street(IDF-Digital Ruler). @ Oct 22nd 2007 4:26PM
I don’t hate it, I don’t like it and is over rated and you people make it sound like if it was the big deal when is actually a big *yawn.
Here it goes my description is like the Sims but with crappier textures but is somewhat free so Okay, most of the people in there suck, progressing takes time, you can spend real money to improve your things but other than a time waster there isn't much to do and some Sickos make the game look like if it was a perv fest when is actually quite a bore.
Now something you have to understand, it is a game well it suppose to and for machinima The Half Life editor(I forgot the name) is better, forge is better I mean some guy did a Ninja machinima using halo 3 forge.
Playing it doesn’t make you smarter, don’t make you a better person, it doesn’t improve your taste on games and if you people think SL is with the Mac and the Hybrid cars you are wrong it doesn’t count as a symbol of status and I think Hotel hobo or whatever is called is the same.
Now stop talking about SL like if it was the human kind savior that will descend from the heavens in a golden chariot and take everyone to candy land (No candy mountain charlie).
BTW control link via brainwaves was seen before; it used in an atari 2600, I’m glad is making progress tho'

I have spent much less than a couple of hours trying to learn about it. I only hear about with regards to business tie-ins (wow IBM has a virtual IT consultancy set up in second life! who cares?). And even then, it doesn't seem very relevant to business except as another form of mass advertisement. The game you mentioned is basically equivalent to the Yaris game on XBL--it is advertising a movie. I don't know anything about SL gameplay but i know that people spend money making themselves look better, building virtual houses, and pretending like a virtual life gives their actual life meaning--and frankly I think that's kind of pathetic. I don't consider it a game, and I don't think it is a step in the right direction for gamers, or technology in general. Also, I don't know what fuzzies are but I am assuming they are super lame.
Then again I don't really get MMOs. If this is supposed to be like a MMO for real life for adults, well that sounds like it sucks too. Anyway, I just wanted something to complain about and anyone reading this just gave my comments relevance. Thanks!

it's "furries". they are horrible horrible people and I wish darwin's corpse would re-animate and murder them all before they can procreate
