Wont forza 2 and marvel UA get counted up from the bundle? That would be 2 others, instead of some of those also rans

Pardon my ignorance, but where's Metroid Prime 3? I know it's already out, but I haven't even seen the thing on any of the top 10 NPD lists. How well has that game been selling? I think that game is a good litmus test for what the wii's real audience is, and as a former wii fanboy, I'm tremendously depressed by that. I think I agree with Chris's assertion that the game might not even sell a million copies (a modest task given how awesome the game is, and how many wiis are out there).

I was rooting for Nintendo this holiday season because of games like Mario and Metroid, but now I'm rooting for Microsoft. On one hand, it's kinda depressing that Microsoft has to work so hard to get the success that it has, given how many awesome games are on its platform, on the other, the 360 has a comically high attach rate, and using that as a measure of success shows that they are kicking ass.

Did this comment even say anything? I don't know. I like to hear myself talk (read: type).

Oh don't get it twisted and all the fanboyz can argue your heads off about Haloz but Mario Galaxy will claim the most sold game this season, like it or not. As much all the kiddies want to say Mario aint nothing anymore, the people who grew up on Mario and owns a Wii will buy it. That is a lot of parents, college kidz and even grandparent who knows the name Mario. Don't think so? Go back and see how many Mario Party 8s sold this year, and that was mini game junk. Next to teh Pokemonies, Mario is printable money in Nintendo eyes...

I'd be shocked if Mario outsold Halo this season.. globally maybe, but in the US only... I'd find it surprising.

They easily got 7 titles for million sold. The big three, Haloz, Mass Effect and BioShock, easily. The question is what other four. My money is on COD4 (possibly game of the year, sorry teh Haloz!!!), NBA 2k8, Orange Box (the other possible game of the year) and for the shocker that people forget about that sells well every year, freakin SMACKDOWN vs RAW 2008.
GH3 and The Simpsons game may sneak in also. Parents are fooled enough to buy anything with familar characters on them, Spiderman 3 anyone?!?!?, and GH3 will end up being the prefer game over Rock Band because it will be the cheaper bundle. Everything else is proof in the pudding before buying.
Everything else is proof before buying fodder.

I think BioShock will claim GOTY to be honest...

Followed by Halo. COD4 could be it but I don't see it beating a unique and completely awesome gaming experience like BioShock IMO.

But yeah COD4 should break 1 million...what about PGR4?

Bottom line though is that with the huge install base of the 360 and the wide variety of games there are many games that could find their way onto that list.

BioShock had a lot of good momentum going for it when it first came out, but I am hearing a lot critics now flip flopping on it because of the ending, or both endings. That leaves a bad taste in some of their collective mouths and it opens up the possibility for something else to capture their hearts

Man there are so many amazing games coming out in such a short window, my head is just spinning... I agree completely that there are still a bunch more games coming out that should sell over a million, and the 360 will make 7 million EASY.

As for Bioshock, this is my GOTY thus far, hands down. As far as what it delivers, an amazing, long, immersive single player first person experience, it does it better than anything I've played in... Dare I say ever. The only disappointing thing about Bioshock is that there was no co-op in the game. I agree that the bad ending was just that, bad. Its message was "god you're a dick, play over again jackass, you don't even deserve an ending." But the good ending was just... Afterwards I thought to myself "now THAT'S an ending" (quote stolen from a GFW radio podcast).

For me, the difference between Bioshock and Halo 3 is that Halo 3 is the sum of its parts, you get an amazing multi player package with a mediocre single player game supplemented by an amazing co-op experience. Bioshock is greater than the sum of its parts, in that all of these game design decisions that make it so awesome and immersive, that aren't new, has popularized them in such a way that if nobody follows up on what they created, it's going to be incredibly stupid.

Sorry for the tangent, but I'm on the Bioshock Defense Force (BDF). Bioshock is greater than anything at this point.

Well I missed the boat on my picks on the "7" million sellers. As of November 28th, the million sellers would be Halo 3, Madden, Assassin Creed, COD4, GH3, and Forza Motorsport 2 (if you count the bundle) Smackdown didn't make it, cause a lot of people are sticking to their PS2's, Simpson flopped, Bioshock and Orange Box audience has dried up, and NBA 2k8 hasn't made it past 300k, according to vgchartz. Looks like if you don't count Forza because of the bundle, they are shy of two games. If you do count the bundle, then they are shy of one, which either way is still impressive.

Clearly this could easily happen.

It sounds like a huge number but I think given the games MS has lined up this holiday and the current greatness of most of the games I feel comfortable with them making that ambitious statement.

Nintendo's on the other hand was a lil out there...lol. I love you Nintendo!

Definites: Halo 3, Guitar Hero 3, Call of Duty 4, Mass Effect.
Probables: NFS Pro Street (The other 2 360 versions have broken 1 million), Orange Box (350K in first week), Assassin's Creed (depends on the reviews), Rock Band (depends upon supply)
Late summer releases he may be including: Bioshock & Madden 08
Sleepers: Lego Star Wars complete saga (LSW2 sold 660K for 360 and this is only $50), FIFA 08 (320K sold worldwide for 360 so far)

i doubt the new lego one will sell as many as #2, most people (myself included) just wanted the original trilogy and sort of want to forget the new one. Plus, we've already bought half of that game (and I only paid $50 for #2 anyway, since i got the xbox version. b/c outta the box and $10 cheaper! woot)

Yep, this week in PAL territories (the 28th), but I was surprised to see that it may not be out until mid-December in Japan. I wonder what the delays there are about.
